  1. Well, obviously there would be at least one place to dock a ship. It would probably have a few market stalls also so the sailors could buy things, perhaps a few cannons around the edges to defend the port from pirates, and possibly extra sleeping areas for the visiting sailors (or perhaps they would just sleep on the ship).
  2. I agree there. I was thinking about how to make a roof for that area, but LEGO never made any non-inverted ones of that pre-fab part I used on the back in old grey or brown. I have been experimenting with making a roof with the same part I used for the bottom but flipped and connected with technic parts, but I haven't finished yet. I'll post pictures if I do get a roof added.
  3. Hmmm. Looks a bit boxy, and the driver isn't well protected. What are the treads from though?
  4. I'm not either, but I couldn't think of any better way to make the curved shape I wanted for the back area, and make the front section without using up a lot of space for the bricks, so I made an exception.
  5. Nice room. The monster looks a bit like a ghost from Pac-man (except they didn't have noses).
  6. I havent had time yet to find a real spot for them, but as soon as I get the time, I plan to clear off part of my bookshelf in my room and put them on there.
  7. Happy birthday everyone (and me, yesterday)! BTW, is that cake made using a mould, or did you make it using something else?
  8. Ok, so this is my first steampunk creation. It came out pretty well for a first attempt I think. Captain's quarters/cargo area/map room
  9. Well, it would probably be the opening of the LEGO store in Indianapolis, Indiana (in America). I guess it doesn't affect most people on here, but since I live only about 1 hour away from there, it will be a lot more convenient than having to go 3 hours to the store in Chicago. Also the fact that it's opening is right after my birthday makes it a nice excuse to get a lot of sets.
  10. I read somewhere that LEGO has trouble moulding the red parts (something about the pigments used causing the bricks to crack more easily or something like that), so perhaps the discoloured parts was a result of LEGO attempting to correct the problem with a different pigment, but causing the colour difference as a side-effect? Or possibly they just have a problem mixing up the right amounts of pigments to get the red right. Either one is possible.
  11. Well, if you want to make a village or building, it's got a lot of good parts for that. It has some good parts for making ships also. If you don't plan to make anything very big though like a large ship or village, it would be better to buy the parts individually probably.
  12. Nice. Looks kinda like the shuttlepod design from Star Trek Enterprise. Good design.
  13. I think there might be a slight difference in the density of the parts. When I take two identical parts (other than the printing, because I was using collectible minifig torsos and normal torsos), and I tap each one, the collectible minifig one sounds slightly different (it's a bit hard to explain the difference though).
  14. I tell just about everyone I know, family, friends, etc.
  15. Very cool. I like the cargo area a lot. The single engine seems rather small though for that whole ship, especially with the cargo area attached. Also, that yellow flap part seems a bit odd, might want to replace that with something that fits the Octan colour scheme better. Otherwise,
  16. Interesting song ideas. I think the first one is based on a real song (But I can't remember what), but I'm not sure about the second.
  17. I hope your attic is air conditioned and sealed. In most places, the temperature changes in an attic will accelerate the "brittleizing" process (Temp. changes can cause LEGO to crack easily), and if you get mice or rats or any other animals up there, they will chew through the box very quickly.
  18. OK time for a few more: ...You have a LEGO screensaver. ...You build during meals. ...Eurobricks is your homepage. ...You have more pictures of LEGO on your computer than pictures of yourself, family, friends, and pets combined. ...You dream about LEGO at least once a week. ...Upon seeing a new set in a store, you feel compelled to jump up and down and scream. (Fortunately, I have never acted on this)
  19. Well, here is how I do my pictures: I use a white background (Just a big sheet of white paper I taped to the wall and my desk), and I have the main light source to the left. I also have a second lamp that I use sometimes to balance the lighting better, but I usually get the main light so I don't have to use that. Occassionally I use paper filters over the lights, but most of the time I'm to lazy... I usually take the pictures at night also, so as to avoid added light from the windows (Or people upstairs yelling and disturbing me ). Then on Photoshop I do basic stuff like cropping, color correcting, brightening, removing dust spots, etc. Sometimes I also remove the background and add in my own (But I won't go into all of that here). Hopefully this has been somewhat helpful.
  20. Nice. Probably the best functions I have seen in a MOC. Lots of nice detail.
  21. Interesting. I like the design of those machines around him, but the "Improved Squidman" seems a bit... blocky/robotic.
  22. Yea, I have been thinking of how to go about putting those further up front. I can move them a single stud forward without changing the design much, but that's all. I have been considering the possibility having the bridge be a two deck thing, with a connecting ladder, and the top section would have windows further forward. This is probably the best option so far, but I will have to modify my plans for the top deck (Mainly, moving the crew quarters a few studs back, moving the kitchen somewhere, probably at the back near the escape pods, and changing my design a lot for the bottom bridge.) I would like to do this a lot though, so if I get the parts required, I will add that.
  23. Yea, I plan to do an update soon. I'm deciding how I will go about finishing this, because I have nearly run out of grey/bley bricks (and the sides are mainly basic bricks and slopes, with a few plates added on at different angles for detail and extra shaping). I'm considering taking apart a few other projects I was working on for the parts, unless I can get a lot of bley parts at the PAB wall in Indianapolis. (The lesson here: Never work on 5 different projects at the same time if you have less than 100,000 parts in your collection) Anyway, I should have the update up in a week or two, I haven't really made much progress since the first post, other than adding to the height of the bottom deck.
  24. Nice ships, especially the space police ones. Lots of nice detail, considering the size.
  25. The thread had been unanswered for 2 months when I replied, so that was a minor bump, but I think I get all of the blame if anyone is in trouble.
