Cool legs at least. I always have trouble making the torsos for my mechs too (usually they come out square or or if I do manage to make a more interesting shape, there is no room for a pilot).

Nice mech. Not familiar with the series it's from, but the MOC looks good. Putting a transformation feature in is always hard, so nice job there especially.
-
I'd just try putting the printing on normal fabric. That should work well.

my 8070 Supercar Project
brickmack replied to Seluryar's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Wow. When the page first loaded, I thought that first picture was supposed to be the real car until I looked closer. Incredible detail. -
Nice ship. Looks a lot better than when I last saw it a few months ago. Good progress.

I've had problems with Pic-to-Brick also. It said something about Java virtual machine didn't have enough memory or something like that. It worked fine for smaller images with less detail in the mosaic, but larger ones froze it.

HMS Surprise and USS Constitution by BlaketheAdmiral

Impressive ships. The sails need work, but the rest of them are great. -
Target and WalMart both have reasonably good amounts of LEGO. Meijer's doesn't have a lot, but they put stuff on clearance a lot and reduce the price by about 20%. LEGO Stores of course have a good selection. Walgreen's stores might have LEGO, I know they used to have a few small sets there, but I haven't been to one for years. The sets they had were usually small and easily found at other stores though, so you would be better off going to another store. Hope this helps a bit.

Well I hope I don't get in trouble for bumping, but... ...You can tell the difference between a collectable minifig and a normal one by texture BLINDFOLDED (Actually did this a few weeks ago because someone didn't believe me) ...You can talk for hours about a single set, and still have stuff to say even after the other person walks away ...You are willing to stand in line for 2 hours just to go to a LEGO Store Grand Opening ...You can identify an in-the-closet AFOL at TRU without even talking to him/her

Nice bike. Been a while since I saw a good NCS MOC. Great usage of that blue curved part on the back in particular, and almost every other part used.

Well it was actually Saturday, but I forgot to post it here. I went to the LEGO Store Grand Opening in Indianapolis, Indiana, America, and got: 10214-1: Tower Bridge, 8066-1: Off-Roader, 8301-1: Urban Enforcer, 10197-1: Fire Brigade, 3658-1: Police Helicopter, 3178-1: Seaplane, 8052-1: Container Truck, 55000-1: LEGO Universe (got it free for spending so much), 1 new brick separator, 1 new blue baseplate, 1 set of 3 custom minifigs, LEGO Store Indianapolis Grand Opening minifig set, and 1 PAB cup. I think that was possibly the greatest day of my life (other of course than Christmas 2007 when someone gave me a LEGO Star Wars set, resulting in many hundreds of more sets being made, and me being here right now.)

When did your collection reach critical mass?
brickmack replied to Arigomi's topic in General LEGO Discussion
My collection got to the point where I think I can build MOST things with the parts I have on Saturday, when I got enough sets and parts at a new LEGO store that my collection exceeds roughly 80 000 parts. I think I'll be able to build truly anything I want to once I get up the 1 million parts mark, but that might take a few years more -
MOC: Adventure Offroad Vehicle
brickmack replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Nice truck design. The musket looks a bit odd though. Eh, some people just prefer older things anyway. Holding the motercycle is kinda cool. And the front horns look nice. -
Cool. Now I want to do a ship in a bottle...

Hmmm. I have the opposite guilt problem with these. I often feel guilty that I'm getting a 5-6 dollar set, and I usually get around 5-10 per year (I'm including those tiny Racers sets here, since they are the same size and I get both types of sets just for parts usually), which means that I could be getting a much larger set with the same money if I could stop buying the small ones. Also a bigger set would likely have better price per part, so that's more parts I would get, and I find the bigger ones often have better parts anyway.

Until recently the polybags weren't available around my area in America either. Even now the only polybag sets sold around here are one of the Toy Story sets and a few microscale Star Wars ones.

Yea but I also got the itchyness when I first reached into the box to look at the new "LEGO" I thought I was getting, and I was itchy before I even noticed that it was non-LEGO. Also, I'm planning to sell it all at a garage sale this year. Might be able to get a few dollars for real LEGO.
-
Why? As long as I don't touch them, there is no problem, and I have carefully labeled the box so I won't mess with anything in it.
-
I had a reaction to some older megablocks that I got (it was at a garage sale, and the box was marked LEGO, and someone got it for me...) and whenever I touch them (even after washing them in extremley hot water to see if it was from dirt) I get really itchy and sometimes even red marks on my hands.

Saw this a few days ago but didn't notice the shaved off studs... It's an interesting concept though. I wonder if anyone has ever done a realistic (as in based on the design of a real camera) camera that really worked with film. I've seen some great models of Leicas and a few other camera types, but I've never seen one that actually worked. *Goes to study internal workings of real film cameras and figure out what parts are required*

Usually when I have builders block I just take an official set (usually space) (or if I don't have an official set available that is put together, I go buy one) and either take it apart and make something new from the pieces, or play around with modifying it until I come up with a cool design.
-
Nice. At the last place I lived, I found what looked like a large box of LEGO. When I got closer though, I noticed it was all Megacrap. At least it's easy to understand why they left it...
-
Doctor Who. Too bad LEGO probably will never make it because it isn't very popular outside of Britain (Or so they say, I know at least 10 people IRL that watch Doctor Who, and 3 of those people also watch the spin-offs like Torchwood. This is one of the few major things the I disagree with LEGO about.)
-
Nice ships. The red and white one with the trans yellow windscreen looks like a minifig scale medical ship someone made a few months ago kinda (but I cant remember where I saw it...)
-
Oh megablocks someone made this topic before me... Oh well. Certainly doesn't look very comfortable, but I imagine she probably had something on underneath so it wouldn't be so bad.
