  1. I am loving the look of this. It looks super! I really appreciate the playability on this, and it's appealing for me to see that it's been made with accessible Power Functions in mind. The designer video does a great job of selling the set's compelling features, and Jamie's enthusiasm for it is palpable. I must admit the price makes me a bit uncomfortable, because for only $10 more, I could be getting the Parisian Restaurant instead. Different models, I know, but seeing as I was planning on buying my first modular later this year, I'm not sure how I can fit this into my plans too. But man, the charm of this set is very enticing. That was one of my first thoughts when I saw this. I kept thinking how well it would jive with the Winter Village set! I definitely want to pick it up now (even more than I already did), but I'm hoping it lasts for a while longer as I'm not willing to buy it until the next VIP event. Or who knows, maybe it'll be retiring soon and I can get it at reduced cost.
  2. Yes, thank you for reviewing this set! I've been going back and forth on whether or not to buy one (especially during double VIP points). I was in the same position of wanting to find feedback on any of the sets but what I found wasn't very helpful. I've ultimately decided against it for the time being. Anyway, the build looks better on the box, to me, but the design function is something I didn't know about before and it seems fun. And just as an FYI: We do have this and other MBA sets here in Canada now (have for a few months), but you just won't find them on the website. Boy are they pricey!
  3. Yeah, perhaps with Mr. Murakami's shop as a backdrop?
  4. Nicely done! Inspires me to explore power functions. Look forward to seeing more.
  5. Thanks for sharing. Chances are, it's the Carnival/fair-themed set we've been hearing about.
  6. Oh wow. This is a very nice surprise! Question is, when are other territories (US/Canada) getting this? Hopefully April, seeing as I'm already planning on purchasing the new Guardians of the Galaxy sets.
  7. Yeah, I'd much rather have the minifigs supported by small builds in this case.
  8. I can't see them doing it, but that is a good idea — one I hadn't considered before. I'd definitely want the Kraang represented in their robotic forms and be equipped with functional blasters. Not sure how the reverse would work for the ninjas since they're more melee-focused in combat, but I suppose interactive components aren't essential.
  9. In any event, I'd expect a Frozen set to turn up in the next wave.
  10. Yeah, it's an eyesore compared to Shredder (or really any other minifig from the TMNT line).
  11. That's how I'm seeing it. Still find the list a tad dubious, but I can see how one or two would be impacted under these terms.
  12. Well done! Thank you very much for sharing this. I too am still bummed that LEGO Games didn't take off and has since been discontinued, but I never considered doing a Friends-style board game. What a great idea (or in my case, another excuse to look into Friends sets). As someone who used to design custom board game prototypes, I thank you for the inspiration! Please do share more creations in the future. I would love to see them. :)
  13. It is, but for the current period (still open for entries).
  14. Ah, yes! That's where I remembered it: Creative Ambush. I thought so.
  15. Considering the deadline for the current window is May 5th, should we expect results from the previous one before that? Maybe the beginning of May? Side note: Really hoping they see the potential in an Adventure Time theme.
  16. Sounds interesting. I imagine you used some extra pitcher/mug pieces for that, like the ones I've seen in the Lemonade Stand (Friends). Has LEGO done a printed dart board part yet, maybe with an older CMF?
  17. Did you just change the exterior signage from 'Pets' to 'Bar', or did you accompany this with interior modifications also? Pictures would be welcome if you have them. A convenience store mod wouldn't be a bad idea. Thanks for that suggestion.
  18. A follow-up/companion piece to Brent's Ghostbusters creations: http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/62418
  19. Okay, so maybe I wasn't 100% accurate because the price holds me back as well. It's $60 here in Canada, and it's harder to justify when I only care about one of the two main attractions. I'll probably have to hold out for an eventual sale. Thanks for the comment.
  20. Can't verify the truthfulness of this, but the mystery VIP set coming May 15th might be the Carnival. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=108409317&postcount=9481
  21. That's a tad reassuring. It's the only thing holding me back from picking it up. Everything else about the set — the colour choices on the roller, the spiffy Joker minifigure, and Batgirl — are all inviting. I wish it was offered on its own without the plane, but alas, I know they had a pricing scheme to adhere to.
  22. What a pleasant and organized work space. Well done on the table also.
  23. Good to know. I plan on buying Palace Cinema (or Parisian Restaurant) as my first modular building whenever the next triple points event rolls around. Given how enticing the exterior looks, I think I can live with some interior sacrifices, especially if I can spruce it up with my own ideas. I was contemplating the Pet Shop, knowing that it might be next on the chopping block and because it essentially offers two buildings for the price of one large construction. However, the exteriors don't have the same pop as PC or PR — at least from what I've seen. So in that case, I'd expect the interior to make up for that (in theory, a reverse of PC). Perhaps between now and later in 2014 if the Pet Shop is still around, I may read opinions or see something that sells me on it as being worth a purchase ahead of the other two I'm most interested in. But given the discussion I've been seeing, I don't expect it to last beyond 2014.
