On the Inside Dimensions podcast, the info they shared was that there was 400+ pallets of cases of Dimensions that were at a distributor. And that stores like Dollar Tree, Big Lots, 99 Cent Stores, Ross, etc, bid on the pallets. 99 Cent Stores won, and that's why they got it. It's a similar model to how those store get other products. It was a one time distributor liquidation, so don't expect it to happen again. (All of that is attributed to Inside Dimensions)

Michael Cera doesn't appear to be doing the McDonald's commercials - but Rosio Dawson and Will Arnet are. Maybe it's the contract that Michael signed. Maybe he didn't want them to license his voice outside of the movie.

I was just thinking this morning, "when is the Ideas announcement coming?" as I'm getting anxious to hear the results. Ideas posted this today: -
LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham (Video Game Discussion)
Alpinemaps replied to The Joker1's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
Never mind. I restarted the game, and did a "Save & Exit" instead of a "Save & Continue" first time through. This time, it saved. And continued saving. -
Doctor Who Ideas set is showing retired on S@H as of this morning.

LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham (Video Game Discussion)
Alpinemaps replied to The Joker1's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
Don't mean to resurrect an old thread, but, I'm having a bit of trouble. I'm an old guy, and I've got young kids with an XBox 360. We started playing twice, over a year ago. Used two "Save Game" slots. When I'm at the start up screen, it shows that both of them are at 0% complete, and both were saved at different dates in 2015. Those are accurate, in that we only got through the first screen (not first level, first screen) before giving up and putting it aside. Yesterday, we decided to pull it out, and decided to look up walkthroughs, and start playing the game. We spent a good 5 hours playing and enjoying the game. Got through quite a few levels - we were somewhere on the Watchtower (past the Hanger) when we decided to stop. We used our "Checkpoints" throughout the game to save progress. Used "Save and Continue" every time. This morning, we went into the game the same way we did yesterday, and the save game from yesterday isn't there! It's just like it was yesterday, with the two save games from 2015. What did I do wrong? Where can I pull up the game? I was just finally enjoying the game yesterday, and I'm completely frustrated with it once again. Any suggestions? -
Sorry. Should have mentioned it was at Legoland California.

Bought this yesterday - 30496 U-Wing Fighter polybag!

Be curious to see how different the City Jungle is to the Friends Jungle theme from last year. Will they complement? Will they be copies? (Obviously, not talking color wise).

Last day. I checked a couple of things the last few days, but nothing new that I can see. Guess we're waiting until February. -
^ I want to believe....but won't until I see it.

LEGO Elves 2017 Discussion

My 8 year old has been collecting the dragons and Pegasus Sleigh so I can hang them from her ceiling. She'll be thrilled with the airship and the newest dragon. Those will look great. -
I just saw someone post on Reddit that it was also going to be in the UK. Can't confirm for sure, but I hope so. Wow....you're making a *whole* lot of sense. lol. I was just going to pick up a fun pack (another Doctor Who since I can't get enough Cybermen and Daleks), and wait out Supergirl coming out later (hopefully). But now....I may just do what you're suggesting. Even if I sell it for ~$20, that means $20 for both (so a little more than a team pack). I'm okay with that!

A fairground theme. A true fairground theme. Not partial theme. Not a Grand Carousel years ago, and then two years of a single item, and then a Friends subtheme. I want a dedicated Fairgrounds theme were we get a couple of items each year (maybe a big set, and two medium sized, and three small sets).

You may want to take a look at this thread: I've learned a lot about packing PAB cups from that thread. I'm still a learner, not a master, but I've recently been able to get about 125 4x4 plates into one cup (along with about 400 other pieces). I'm sure you could easily get 150 4x4 plates in there. So you'd only need two PABs for that. The 2x2s should be pretty easy too. You can either just throw them in there, or spend the time to stack them. Overall, I think you'd be able to get everything into two cups. Both San Diego stores have 4x4 and 2x2 plates (since you said you were in SoCal). The benefit of course is that you won't have to wait for an order to come, or pay for shipping.

My haul from yesterday. Just one large cup. The big haul was 64 4x4 tan plates and 61 4x4 green plates.

I love Jay! The torso is obvious, but where are the legs and hat from?

21306: The Beatles Yellow Submarine (LEGO Ideas)
Alpinemaps replied to Blondie-Wan's topic in LEGO Licensed
My kids want this set. I'm 44. My kids are 8 and 4. Obviously it was my parents that got me interested in the Beatles and I've passed it onto them. My kids even love singing Octopus' Garden at the end of the Coast Cruise at LEGOLAND (and know where it comes from). I haven't seen the movie since I was a kid, so we're all gearing up to watch it when we get the set. -
LEPIN brings out Monster Fighters HAUNTED HOUSE (16007)
Alpinemaps replied to ericb's topic in Community
Completely agree with everything you've said. I agree your statement goes way off topic, but to bring it back to a degree - there are those that argue that this is the only way to (affordably) purchase sets that LEGO has retired. The problem is - LEGO can do whatever they want with an IP. If they decide not to make it available, that's their decision. Sucks that you've missed out, but that's the way it is. I would *love* to own a VW Bus. But VW doesn't produce it anymore. They own the IP. So...should I see if there's a "knock-off" brand that's available? Should I buy a used one at a price I don't like? Or do I have to live with VW's decision not to market that product anymore? -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Alpinemaps replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I'm assuming you mean that the Brick Bank is in the catalog, next to that image? Yes, it is. But so are the Palace Cinema, Parisian Restaurant, and Detectives Office. Those four are all on those two pages in the catalog, next to the image. My point was more that the image on that PowerPoint matches this image in the catalog. Meaning that LEGO is still using this image as their image of "these are the modulars." -
LEPIN brings out Monster Fighters HAUNTED HOUSE (16007)
Alpinemaps replied to ericb's topic in Community
So good and interesting points that you bring up, @Adamskii. There's a couple of points I'd like to discuss: You've been given access to that IP. Not access to profit from that IP. But access to use that IP with the instructions that have been provided. I don't believe it's reasonable to assume that being granted access to the IP assumes that you been granted access to profit from a direct copy of that IP (e.g., mass produce that same set the same way that LEGO has put it into market). You can buy and sell it (to a point - LEGO does come after people who buy from them and resell product, if they catch you). But that's the product you've purchased. Not a copy. Are you creating a new box? Are you creating new blocks? Or are you selling the other one you bought off the store shelf? Those are two different things. In the example that you cite, you are free to do that. You can sell your spare copy. You disposing of property. You aren't mass producing a copy of the item. This statement raises an eyebrow. Certainly, if someone commits murder, they've committed an illegal activity, haven't they? Even before the case goes to court? The question really should be that the person (or company) hasn't been convicted of any wrongdoing until a ruling has occurred. Economy of scale. LEGO can chose to go after (or not go after) whomever they choose. I can't speak for LEGO, I can only guess. I would guess that LEGO isn't going to go after individuals using their IP to make creations and sell them, because it isn't financially reasonable to do so. Why spend tens of thousands on a lawyer to issue a C&D and prosecute a case against an AFOL, who is making a couple of hundred dollars on selling LEGO creations. A company spends money to make money. There's no money to be made going over small potatoes. But big companies that threaten to eat into your profits (e.g., Lepin) - that's who you go after. I've always wondered why LEGO didn't go after companies like this previously. I'm guessing they didn't see them as a big enough threat, or figure out a way to make their case as buttoned up as possible to ensure that they're going to come a financial winner. Who knows? Maybe LEGO is using this as a way to get Lepin to negotiate a licensing fee from them. Or maybe they're trying to get some financial consideration out of them. (In other words, sue them with the intent to force them to the table). Or maybe they truly want to shut down this operation. -

Bottom line - Lepin is using someone else's intellectual property to make money.(without obtaining a license to do so). Is there anyone that can argue against that point?
