  1. YAM even went so far as to spoil his costume on Twitter the other day: (No, it's not really a spoiler)
  2. Easy to fix - buy 2, 1 for your lad to build Voltron, and 1 for you, and you can build the Lions.
  3. I think part of the frustration, as well, is that we rarely see these minifigures show up later. Green Lantern might be the only exception to that. Bizarro is, to a certain degree. I'd love to have these figs, but won't wait in line at SDCC, and I won't pay the money. My loss, I get it. But I'd love to see Vixen or the Atom, or Shazam show up in an altered form down the line. If you're a collector and you're serious, you'll want the SDCC version. If you're not as fanatic about it, you'll be happy with a more common version.
  4. I've been thinking that the delay with Voltron is related to two rights holders (not just one). So not only do they have to set up a contract with the Ideas creator, but the US licensor and the Japanese licensor. I'm wiling to bet all parties are interested, it was just the extra time to involve and extra set of lawyers. Here's something else to consider, though - Voltron. Comic Con this week. Maybe they're delaying the announcement until Comic Con? Maybe they want to do a reveal or something cool at the end of this week?
  5. That's Wonder Dog (the dog with the green cape that is)
  6. Nice interview, thanks for sharing. One line from the interview that I thought was good: Two parts that I thought I'd highlight from this quote: 1. Getting the word out (since we're talking about that on this very page of the thread) - finding alternative methods of getting the word out, in the field of interest. 2. "Design something you haven't seen done before." Total words of wisdom there. How many Star Wars sets, and other rehashes are we going to see. Why do you think the Old Fishing Store got approved? It was very unique and not something done before.
  7. If you can get to Legoland, you can always enter on a Shopper's Pass. You pay for parking, buy a ticket, and then get an hour in the park. After that hour, exit the park, and they will refund your full admission price. If you spend $20, they will refund your parking as well. I'm in SoCal, didn't have my annual pass last year, and did it about 10 different times.
  8. Has anyone worked on 853650 The LEGO Batman Movie Movie Maker? Instructions haven't been posted on Lego's site. And I can't seem to find them anywhere.
  9. Who is the guy in purple? He reminds me of Paladin, from the 80s. But it can't really be him, can it?
  10. Very cool dragon. I have no doubt that's going into our dragon collection.
  11. Love it! I love the color scheme, and I'm really looking forward to this set.
  12. I really hope this is true. I missed out on the first one - still in my dark ages. I'm glad LEGO didn't cancel the line. I think they just took the year off because they had the Friends sets available last year. I'm hoping they sold well enough that it helped LEGO decide to keep this line going for awhile.
  13. So, based on the (lack of) discussion...I take it no one has found anything new and exciting since PAB came back? I've done my fair share of looking, and haven't found anything in stock that would be considered cool. A little bummed by it...
  14. Not quite sure what your criteria is. If it's minifigs, then I'll give you BTTF, Ghostbusters and Yellow Submarine. I'm assuming, based on those sets, you are trying to suggest that those sets might appeal predominantly to males vs females. Goint to have to disagree with you on that. My wife would argue she's the bigger Beatles fans. My kids (one male, one female), equally like all the other sets you mention.
  15. I'm not sure why you're disappointed? I rather like the winner myself. I agree that that there are a number of good MOCs in there. But of the other entries you pointed out, I do think the winner is probably the best fit overall. The winning set isn't overly complex. It fits the Friends theme. It's unique, as we haven't had a Friends playground yet. A lot of the others, while good, seem to be thematic repeats of other things we've seen in the line (a nail salon, a boutique, etc). Or, pretty complex in build. What are your thoughts?
  16. How I are these orders that we are talking about? I think Bricklink's fees are 3%. Even if we are talking about 3 orders for $100 each, that's only $9. It might be the principle of it for you, but I'd just pay it and move on. Lesson learned to track your orders and file actions as appropriate.
  17. I think the Tram, the Diner, and the Ship in the Bottle are the most likely.
  18. My problem with that argument (and this is nothing against you @BrickHat, just that I've heard many people say the same thing), is that LEGO inherently is about STEM. Both my son and daughter love LEGO, and their creativity and engineering skills have been greatly enhanced already just by building. It doesn't matter if it's Belle's Castle or Spider-Man's bridge - the engineering to create something like that has inspired both of them greatly. The skills have transferred over to other areas - my kids are constantly engineering things out of all sorts of materials these days. I also think it's a bit of bad parenting if the only way we can get girls into STEM is to look toward LEGO approving an Ideas set that has women minifigures. /rant off Congrats to the creator of the Ideas set, of course. I'm sorry I'm not more excited for it, it just doesn't tickle my fancy. I will most likely pick one up for my daughter (if she shows interest), though. It's quite the accomplishment to get a set into production. I'm sure you've seen a lot of "meh" reactions today, and that's a bummer, but don't take it personally. As for Voltron - I pushed hard for Voltron, and although I didn't see "Voltron" on the card, I'm at least happy with the result. I've said this other places, too - I'm sure there are some additional licensing "things" that would go into Voltron. You're not just looking at US licensing, but you've got to get licensing cleared through the original licensee in Japan. Voltron has cross generational appeal - 80s kids love it, and Gen Y loves it, too. The show is doing great on Netflix. Season 2 just premiered last month, and Season 3 is coming in September. The toys are selling like hotcakes and are difficult to keep in stock. My thoughts are that there's the multiple licensees, as well as the different versions of Voltron to consider. There's the 80s version (which is the Ideas set), but there's also the new version. Maybe there's a desire to get a second set out there that reflects the new show? Who knows...maybe Dimensions isn't dead and they are considering adding it to Dimensions, lol. Anyway, I hope to hear some good news come this summer.
  19. So so excited. I'm just worried I'm going to be disappointed. I don't the no ive ever been as invested in a selection as this one. 20 minutes!
  20. Ack, really? They said they were doing that two or three weeks ago! So that they could get the results up by the end of the month. I hope this doesn't mean we've got to wait a couple more weeks for post production. I'm always going to throw out Voltron. I think it could work really well. EDIT: Clarification - on the LEGO Ideas FB Page, they posted a picture today (27 Feb) from them filming "recently." So, filming wasn't completed just today.
  21. I'm not necessarily waiting on that...I'm waiting on confirmation from some other source It's not that I don't believe J2G. And it's not that I'm in denial. It's just that there are usually multiple sources of info for Dimensions, and none of those other sources have said a word yet.
  22. The waiting is killing me here. It's almost the end of the month. I want results!
  23. Wellllllll.... Instead of 10,000 posts about it, the mods made a sticky (or mega) thread in the sub. That's pretty typical of most subreddits. No reason to have a ton of threads with one or two posts, when you can just have one big thread for the discussion. I didn't see any questioning of CM4Sci's credibility, only J2G. Overall, the problem seems to be that J2G is the *only* source for this information at this moment. People have gotten burned before, believing a single source of info (remember the Sports and Power Rangers themes that were rumored to be coming out this year?). In light of any other information, it's best to be skeptical, no matter how credible a source has been in the past. I do find it interesting that other major Dimensions news sites, like Bricks to Life, haven't made a comment (yet) about the situation. Based on the BtL site owner's participation on the Inside Dimensions pocast, he seems to have some contacts with TT Games. Whether he has any information, or is choosing not to share, I don't know. But until I see more than one source for this information, I'm going to remain skeptical. (I honestly think it could go either way, but have no idea yet which way it will go)
  24. I didn't even think about Minecraft. Well, definitely a good showing for all three.
  25. Is that now the fastest to 10,000? Voltron was the previous record holder, I believe. It was something like 20 days?
