I'm glad we're getting Simon Baz, that's fine. But I still want a Guy Gardner mini. -

Which Red Tornado are we talking about? The robot or Ma Hunkle? You may be joking about Bat-Mite or Mr. Mxyzptlk, but I'm very serious for my desire for a Bat-Mite fig. -
Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
Alpinemaps replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
I love it when people post their "interesting parts" list. B&P can be overwhelming sometimes, so just seeing what someone else has focused on, and has found interesting, makes me interested in some of those parts. So thank you for posting. -

Just a guess that they didn't have the design finished by the time they printed the boxes for the others.- 238 replies

Ideas for new powered up app alternative?
Alpinemaps replied to PF Remote's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I'd like the ability to add a sound library. So if I want to use the motor in a theme park, for example, I could add sounds that relate to a particular attraction (e.g., the Roller Coaster might have screams as the riders near the top) -
What did you use for Brainy? I know the face and the hands are from the Mighty Micros set, but where is the torso and hair from? I really like the way that came out.

Where should the next People at the ____ take place?

I definitely like the idea of this line expanding to include seasons or other places. So a "Winter" or a "Summer" theme, etc. -
Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
Alpinemaps replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
I placed an order on March 3. Yesterday, I was looking at the order, and the line item on the parts said "Shipped" but the status of the order was "In Warehouse." Today I checked, and it shows an order status of "Shipped" (with no individual line item status on the parts). -

:( I'm guessing that's the "issue." Lucky @Pchan1983! -
Great! Glad to hear the good news. The 3 month one was hard. I should have listened to my gut, when I placed the order, because there was one or two neutral feedbacks about long shipping times. But everyone was overall satisfied that they got their orders and got what they ordered (and this person had a part I really couldn't find anywhere else). Shortly after I ordered, within about a week or so, the complaints started coming in. There were quite a few of us placing complaints. I even went so far as to post in their forums about this person. Eventually, that person was shut down by Bricklink, and they aren't on the platform anymore.

Were the heads available? I checked an hour ago, and just now, and didn't see the heads. They're showing out of stock. -
Well, we're both entitled to our opinions. I would imagine that you being in the UK, and me being in the US colors our perceptions of media push as well.

No problem. I know it's easy to be disappointed, but I've participated in hundreds of transactions (both as a seller and a buyer), and I can count on one hand the truly *bad* experiences. Like I said, mistakes have happened, but 99.9% of the time, for me, they've been resolved to my satisfaction. I've had one seller send me some baseplates, and when I opened the box, I was literally knocked over by the cigarette smell. Of course, nothing in his store terms mentions a "smoking household" and I was sorely disappointed. Seller offered a refund, which I accepted. In that case, I left a neutral feedback mentioning the smell because it was something I thought other buyers should know. I've had someone drag their feet for three months to get me my stuff, in which case I posted a negative. On the other hand, I had a seller that seemed to drag their feet, but as it turns out, the day after I bought from them, they got a huge order. I sent off a note asking if everything was okay with my order, and they apologized profusely, promised to post that day, and were very nice about it. And sure enough, my package arrived shortly after that. So they get a positive for correcting a problem, and communicating well. Let us know how the transaction goes with this seller, and definitely don't be discouraged.

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces

What I do is have my bricks loading into a Bricklink wishlist. Then I note the prices on B&P and put that in as my "Max Price" on Bricklink. That way, I can do a quick check and see just how available a part is above or below the B&P price point to decide which marketplace I'm buying at. -
First thing is the contact the seller, and be objective about your order. Review your order sheet and make sure you ordered new (and didn't mistakenly order as used), just to be certain. And as long as that is correct, let them know that you didn't receive what you ordered - new figs. Give the seller (especially one with a remarkable selling record), an opportunity to make it right. It could be an honest mistake. I sell on Bricklink, and it's happened to me before. I somehow got some weapons and helmets wrong on two different sets of Clone Troopers. The buyer contacted me and let me know. I told him to keep the figs, and dispatched the other figs that were part of the mix up, and all was good. If for some reason the seller doesn't make it right, you are still protected by PayPal (assuming you paid that way). You can dispute the transaction with them. At that point, you can also leave a negative feedback. With Bricklink, you have the opportunity to comment on a piece of Neutral or Negative feedback, so if there is any retaliatory feedback, you can. You can also appeal to Bricklink admin's on feedback and get it removed if it's inappropriate. But I would caution anyone in this situation to remain calm and objective, allow the seller to make it right, and then, after exhausting that avenue, following through on the PayPal dispute and negative feedback.

Well, honestly, that's splitting hairs a bit. That's a total of two episodes, right at it's release. The entirety of 2016 was a wilderness year, and Series 10 didn't start until 15 April 2017. Per Brickset, the set was retired Nov 2016 in the US, and Jan 2017 in the UK, still 3 months before the show would return. I wouldn't classify one episode a couple of days after the release, and then a Christmas Special three weeks later as an active promotion of the product. If the set had been released timed to the start of Series 9, then yes, that would be the case. But 3 weeks of promotion, with 16 months before the next episode didn't help sales on this set at all.
-
All good points mentioned so far. One point not mentioned, and I think this hurt the set as well, is that there was no show to help promote it! The set was born, lived, and died, in the wilderness time between series. To me, Ideas is also a chance to spring board, well...Ideas! About the only set that really did anything significant on that front was the Minecraft Cuusoo set. Well, I'd guess Ghostbusters would fit that mold, too, since there was the Firehouse and the new movie set that also came out. I had really hoped that this set would have launched a whole Doctor Who line. At one point I even came up with a list of sets that would be perfect for each Doctor, along with appropriate monsters and companions. I know I personally would love to see a whole line of at least minifigs. But it doesn't look like that will happen anytime soon. I was even hoping for a Doctor Who Brickheadz (especially of the 13th Doctor), but that isn't likely either.

I've already gotten my first order of track and pieces to start working on an elevated train for a theme park. I need to put in a couple more orders for more parts before I start working on it in earnest, though.

Future of LDD on MacOS?
Alpinemaps replied to NathanR's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I've been a Mac LDD hold out for awhile, but just this week, I installed and fired up Stud.io. It took a few minutes to get used to it, but I've already converted over a bunch of my LDD files. Really easy to do. The features you mention are pretty cool. And at least OOB, right there on screen - like the number of parts, and the cost even! Quick one button upload to a BL Wantlist as well was really useful. I haven't tried the rendering or the instruction making, but look forward to it. -

I was gonna say...you're missing the stickers! I built him myself, too. The stickers from the creepy Geoffrey set work really well. You can get away with just one sheet if you're careful. It's a cool little build. -
[WIP] Lego monorails. [Custom Rail Systems (CRS)]
Alpinemaps replied to Trekkie99's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Supported! That's very nice. I'm glad the submitted got permissions from JK Brickworks. I knew I recognized that set up. Very similar to what I'd like to set up for some sort of small fairground ride. Very neat! -
The JK Brickworks version has the steep slopes because he only had the Pirate Rollercoaster set available to use. The concept would still be the same with no slope tracks - he mentions in the video that he wanted to get more straight pieces.
-
Thanks for reminding me of the JK Brickworks setup. That's the set up I wanted to go with for motorizing an elevated train setup, but had completely forgotten it. I put together the list of parts that I need from his site this morning, and will be placing an order this weekend.
