You mean there are players who don't go after Goblin Mages at Level 1? Personally, remembering the times when I started with nothing, I think the Undead Hobbits and Hobbit Mages are more dangerous. They shoot bullets in all directions, so if you walk over them as they fire and you don't have good Def, you can get shotgunned and one-hit killed. Goblin Mages have a horde of minions, but you can stay back and mow those down faster than they spawn, and then go after the mage itself, which really just wanders around and shoots one bullet. Also, if you get up close to an enemy so that both shots hit, DBlade does more damage than megablocks, and CSword's range is longer than any of the others', so it really depends on what you're facing. Also, against most enemies, Def only absorbs up to 85% of shots, so you'll still get hit with that stuff in the midlands. Not that it'll hurt you that much, but you will take Damage.

Actually, no classes gain any Def per level. Def as a stat apart from equips can only be increased with Def Pots. Comparing Shields and Helms, Shields have 2-4 more Def at each tier, except at T1 and T4 when they both have +2 and +8 Def, respectively. Unless you run around the low- and midlands and take a lot of lower-powered hits, 2-4 Def isn't going to make much difference. If you don't plan on maxing, Knight really isn't that much better than Warrior, and it comes down to whether you'd rather have the helm's Berserk (temporary increase of Spd and Dex) or the shield's Stun.

It's hard enough to manage my eleventy gazillion documents on my notes for QMing without having to keep track of my roleplaying. XD
-
To be honest, I have no idea who my character has or hasn't met. Roleplaying's definitely not my strength. :-P

We've been PMing each other to decide who gets which players. Zeph hasn't PMed his list of players signed up for Q30, but comparing JimBee's and my lists, it looks like there should be enough.

I agree with Cloney O'; the connection isn't as obvious as it was for Toy Wars. (no real opinion on HogWars, as I know practically nothing when it comes to Harry Potter) That being said, they do make sense, and above all else, the connection between Riddler and Yoda made it all worth it.

I hand Arthur 50 Gold."No problem. Arthur, right? Good luck." I mutter to myself, "I swear, it seems like I spent a really long Quest of 90+ pages epic proportions with that guy." I notice that the Mage seems engaged in other conversations now, so I head back to the bar, nodding at Skrall and Cronk as I pass.

None of the above. Buy a Magic Compass. Those things drive QMs crazy. It's funny. (even if you've signed up for my Quest )

This is one of those times when I love how easy it is to get back on your feet in this game. I got on a couple hours ago, decided I had nothing to lose, and equipped Horror, Master, and my last Sup HP, with the starter Skull. (since I had died with all my T3s) Got to Level 20 with a pretty bad roll, so I won't be putting the good stuff on this one, but I spent Levels 14-20 in a pretty much empty section of godlands. I think the one-day break did me some good. Wearing a set that's worth 2 Spd more than my normal Leveling set, I was planning to Nexus out at the first sign of trouble, but I seemed to be focusing and avoiding hits a lot better. Using a full stock of HP/MP pots and a T1 Skull, I spent about ten minutes there, and was fortunate enough to get 2 Def and 2 Spd. I saw a UDL, so I went into that, and I was taking things nicely and slowly, and in addition to the Wis pot, I got two T3 skulls in the second and fourth rooms, only once coming close to threatened. (when I ran into some Brown Slime, but I backed out at 250 HP) Nothing not to like for me in my half hour of play tonight. I also ended up getting a free T3 Skull in the Nexus while trading from someone who was desperate for Spd - got the skull and 1 Att for 2 Spd - so that was good, too. By the way, if anyone has Sup HP rings, I'll trade Sup Def, Para Vit, Para MP, Para Wis, Para Att, and/or Para Spd rings for them 1:1.

I intercept the Mage with the pointy hat on his way to the Library."Good evening. My names Docken, Bartholomew Docken. Do I know you from somewhere? You seem vaguely familiar, and you gave me a look earlier as if you recognized me. Forgive me if I've forgotten you. Anyways, I couldn't help but overhear that you were in need of cash. I'd be willing to lend up to 50 Gold, with no interest."
-
I'd be willing to lend Arthur money, Flipz. I'm set for the next Quest.

I notice a Sage accompanied by a servant aura turn to me and tip his hat as I pass his table. I wonder what is with all these people acting as if they know me from somewhere. No matter how hard I try, I can't recall where I have seen the Sage, though I note that he seems rather fond of Miss Alexis. Shrugging ever so slightly, I continue to the bar to enjoy a hot meal before I have to leave for another quest.

Happened again about three minutes ago. No change in the two error messages from the two I posted above.
-
Yeah, I can't seem to keep things short. Hopefully, Quest 31 will move more quickly.

Same error presented itself a couple minutes ago. I grabbed a couple screencaps. (click for full-size versions; Photobucket resized to 1024px, but it's still readable) Active Content gave me this database error: While the Index gave me this 404 error:

No, you have to upgrade one level at a time. To get to SP: 22 from SP: 5 would require 60+70+80+90+100+110+120+130+140+150+160+170+180+190+200+210+220=2,380 Gold. You currently have enough to upgrade to SP: 8 at a cost of 210 Gold.

I walk by and notice a Mage in a particularly stereotypical hat staring at me for a moment. Overhearing the name 'Wren', I pause for a second, for the hero seems vaguely familiar. Despite my best efforts, I can't recall from where I know him, so I continue on, focused on the quest ahead of me.
-
Yeah, the later enemies really should've been stronger. I had thought the Elven Guards would be enough, but then K-nut and that horse I gave him got a Magic Burst...
-
Noticing that I'll be going on a Quest soon, I stop by the Marketplace to stock up on consumables. I purchase five Potions, for a total of 25 Gold, leaving me with 93-25=68 Gold.
-
Ah, yes - you're the only player wearing hair which LDD identifies as "Princess Hair".
-
I'm actually glad to hear that you felt underpowered in that battle. The final enemies were, as I said, balanced for around Level 5, so I'm glad to hear that they seemed overpowering to a player under Level 5.
-
Also, Isabella has a dagger in her other hand which can't really be seen in the silhouette from this angle, Alexandre has a shield that's behind Althior, and William is holding his bow with two hands. Helm is the only one holding a torch and wearing a satchel, though. Someone's been reading Irregular Webcomic! recently.

Wow, I didn't notice that. It'll be revealed in the opening one or two scenes of Q31, so I suppose it can't hurt to tell you that Luke and Count Lewis both return. Good point. Roleplaying's definitely not my strong point, so I didn't really know how to include that. (I never really considered it, actually)

...and, Quest 17 is done! So, here are some of my thoughts: Brickdoctor (QM/NPCs) I think I might have made the quest a little too complicated. I know the movement and line-of-sight rules had most of you confused at least through the first Battle, and the Lion Knights were pretty much useless except in the last Battle. I was trying to add some NPCs to help you out that didn't rely on more dice, but I think it was too confusing. I also think that I made some of the enemies too weak, and I definitely made the horses overly powerful. (though I decided that since I'd already given them to you, I'd let you finish the quest with them at full power, since it was my fault in the first place for making them so powerful) I had balanced the enemies for Levels 1-5, and decided that I'd just let Althior and Xander pwn everything they attacked. In retrospect, the three lords at least should've had perhaps another 100 HP, and I should've introduced another more powerful siege weapon for the final two battles to threaten the fort more. The quest also ran waaaaay toooooo looooong. K-nut (Althior) I kind of felt initially that you didn't really know what to do with all the freedom I was giving you, so I think you didn't take that much of a leading role early on. (which is completely understandable - I, for example, fail miserably at writing essays, but I can do pretty well if I have to write within limitations on words: poetry, for example) You tried to do a lot of stuff with magic and not available materials, but I think you got more inventive and more decisive as the quest went on. Good work. posades (Xander) You weren't as active, so you couldn't innovate as much as some of the other players, but you helped where you could and you were a consistent player. No complaints from me. VolcanicPanik (William) At first, I thought you were in this for the loot. (and even though I keep saying that loot and XP are all that matter, it's really not) Once you were told what needed to be done to accomplish things within the quest, though, you had a lot of great ideas and you executed them well. Great work. Capt.JohnPaul (Alexandre) From the start, you were one of the more inventive players. After what happened in the first quest you QMed (Q6, I believe), I was a little afraid that you wouldn't be committed to this one, but you were active and both you and Flipz (and, later, Volcanic) were doing just what I wanted to see in the quest. Excellent job. Flipz (Arthur) Arthur was awesome. Sort of like K-nut, you did seem to attempt to work inside the box at the beginning of the quest. I'm not sure if you weren't yet quite sure of what to do, or if you were testing the limits. In any case, you added so much to this quest, and both you and Capt.JohnPaul (and, later, Volcanic) were doing just what I wanted to see in the quest. Excellent work. Sloop (Helm) You sort of got thrown in at the end of the quest, but you seemed to get the hang of things pretty quickly, and you did a good job filling in for Spag. Ordering the Lion Crossbowmen to throw the trebuchet ammo at elves was genius; too bad Althior (and my overpowering horse) annihilated them before that could come into play. Kadabra (Arasmyth) You were sort of active and sort of not, but you were fairly consistent. There were several Rounds which you didn't participate in. Good work overall, though. Dharkan (Isabella) You really got left out being Flipz's assistant with the catapult, and that was totally my fault and I apologize for it. I hope you got enough action at the end of the quest, and I'd love to have you on another one of my quests in which you can see more action, because when you did get the chance to act, you did so quite well. Kenghis Ghan (Spag) What happened to you? You were fairly active, and then you were gone. I hope everything's okay in real life for you.
