Other GM's Note:Yeah, it hasn't been changed, though it has been proposed many times. Personally, I think that if a player has poured enough resources into his equips such that SP makes him invulnerable, then he deserves to be invulnerable. But that's just me and my SP: 15 shield talking.

Mafia School: A Bedtime Story
Brickdoctor replied to Sandy's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Whenever you double-post and the second post comes within half an hour (?) of the first, I believe. It's been in effect as long as I can remember. -
Other GM's Note: SP is still calculated after Rows, so it would be 5/2=2-1=1 Damage, if he could attack.

It's been a while since I read Golden's last book, but I remember that I didn't really like it. She's new to Star Wars, and I think it shows. Of course, in my perfect world, all Star Wars books would be written by Zahn, Anderson, Reaves, or Perry...but that's not happening. In Denning's defense, he did have to tie up all the loose ends set up in the previous eight books, but I think a lot of the mystery simply wasn't set up well. Good mysteries are not based on "Why does this character have ridiculous amounts of power?" A good mystery would be, "Why is this military genius always two steps ahead of us?" or "Who assassinated this person without Force powers and didn't leave a trace?". Indeed. And stop trying to radically transform characters. You don't need to transform a major character to have an interesting story. You don't even need major characters. Death Star was a great book, and all the main characters of the saga appear in that book only as minor characters.

You misunderstand; no one's touched Yoda, and I use that as an example of what could have been done - what was done for over two decades - with the Force. Leave it unexplained. Don't tell us about the Ones or explain the Celestials. It wouldn't have made the Force any worse.
-
Well, I think the book does explain them - explains them too much, in fact. If they were never explained - never introduced - Centerpoint Station would be the only relic left, and it would be technology, not magic. Now that things have been explained, everything's been explained, as I said, in an "Magic did it!" sort of way, which is an excuse, not an explanation, and doesn't fit into Star Wars at all. What wasn't explained was all the motives. I get not explaining those to keep the beings mystical, but if they want the Ones to be mysterious, they should just not tell us about them. Let the fans draw their own conclusions. The fans of magic have their magic, the fans of sci-fi have their sci-fi and the non-magical Force, Lucas has...whatever it is he believes about the Star Wars universe now, and everybody's happy. There are other mysteries left unexplained - I'm looking at you, Yoda's past.

Heroica RPG - Quest #28: The Breakthrough
Brickdoctor replied to Waterbrick Down's topic in The Heroica Archive
"Okay, we can take a chance and try to drop all three enemies within two Rounds, or we can concentrate all our attacks on the tanks. Lord Boomingham and I can take the Free Hits, and we can't get the loot from the Repositories if we're Knocked Out. What do you guys think?" Order of Actions: Bartholomew Docken Lord Lawrence Boomingham En Sabah Nur Jess Islanti Haldor Skovgaard Once again shielding myself from the heat with my shield, I whip an arrow out of my quiver, draw back my Briar Bow, and attack the Flaming Storage Tanks from the Back Row. -
So I just finished Apocalypse, and...wow, I have so much to say about this book. Not much of it good, I'm afraid.

"Lord Boomingham, if we can disable the source of the lightning, then Nur can douse the whole thing in water before we dismantle it." OoC: Or do you mean we have to approach it physically to stop the fire? -

I look to see if there is some sort of tube connecting the tanks to the rest of the machine which I could shoot open with my bow(s). -
CStaff can be sold for 2 Def, actually. If you don't need the extra range and faster firing rate (in other words, if you don't have trouble aiming), you can get two Necrotics for the price of one CStaff and deal more Damage. And CStaffs drop from a dungeon that a skilled Level 5 non-melee class can rush in under five minutes, whereas the lowest dungeon dropping Necrotics is a the Snake Pit. (well, Stheno can be killed by any class at any level if you know her patterns, but I'd recommend at least Level 10 non-melee to get through the rest of the dungeon) Really, if any of you guys have any needs of mid-tier items, list them here. I throw away Illusionists, Obsidian Daggers, Double Bows, Golden Swords, Studded Leathers, and other T7- items everyday.

"Alright, I assume that that means that the tanks are also the source of power for all that lightning." Using my shield to shield myself from the flames and the heat, I get as close as I can without getting burnt.* Using the spear, I open holes at the very tops of the tank, so that the holes are above the level of the fluid, taking care to angle the spear so that any bursts of air or fluid coming out of the pressurized tanks will be directed away from me. OoC: *In terms of stats, let's say that I'm willing to get as close as I can without taking more than, say, 5 Damage. "Nur, wait to see if this works before you do anything. Haldor, be ready to do some healing if my Health starts to drop." -

Weighing the spear in my hand and contemplating how best to use this weapon which I am unfamiliar with, I turn to Master Szalinski. "Are there any valves I could open to release the pressure? And what, exactly, is contained in the tanks?" -

I assume that that means that I can't use my bow to crack the tanks open. I run up to the guy who was holding a spear. "Excuse me, sir, could I borrow your spear for a minute?" -
MegaBloks. I knew I shouldn't have gone to O1 with the lag I was experiencing, and I knew I should've Nexused out when I rubberbanded during the dancing phase. But, no, I had to stick around until the second "Be silent!", and let myself get hit by three consecutive grenades before lagging into a Ring Element. While carrying a Spd from godlands and a Def from the blue Stone Guardian. ...which means that I am again in need of some equips. I've got staves and robes, but if any of you has any Para HP rings or ETap skulls, I'll buy those at 1 Def and 1 Spd, respectively. Still looking to trade for Sup HP, too.

I instinctively duck as flames roar above our heads. "Nur, see what you can do about that!" I turn back to Master Szalinski. "Are there any moving parts that could be stopped in order to make these flames more manageable? Or an external source of power?" -
Wow, Mood - you took a small and cute Ewok and made it even smaller and cuter. As Legostein said, the 1x1 plate with tooth is perfect as the helmet tops and headdresses. I also love that you've managed to make the 74-Z look small and appropriately sized, even though it's still 2-wide. Great work.

...and that is why I don't carry WC Tops and why my EP is for HP/MP pot farming and for showing off to the newbs in the Nexus. Died my own really stupid death earlier. I had stocked up on pots and was godhunting while waiting for the realm to close, and I saw a SB dark blue bag drop in the middle of a pack of gods. Kill the gods, run in, get killed by Sprite God trying to do the pick-up-and-Nexus thing. Turned out to be just a Spd, too. Got a +33 HP roll on the next char, though. Threw on the good stuff...and lagged out of two O1s in a row. (the first during the artifacts stage, the second after the realm closed and I was waiting to go to the Castle) The lag is awful for me today.

It was supposed to be. Turned out even longer than Q4.

No, this one should be normal-length.

OoC: My stats look good. I look around to see the rest of the party I'll be leading: bare-chested Haldor, tall and powerful Lord Boomingham, the Lucky Sorceror, Nur, and my old Dearly Belover Party Leader's Secretary, Jess. "Excellent," I think to myself. Noticing that the inventor's demonstration has literally gone up in flames, I step forward to herd the spectators away from the flames, shielding them and myself from the heat with my shield. "Master Szalinski, I assume that this is not normal behavior for your invention?" Noticing the nature of the flames, I turn to Nur. "An electrical fire. Nur, be ready to use your Garnet to smother the flames with sand." -
At first glance, this appears to be Anakin's pod, Sebulba's pod, and someone else's pod, though looking closer, the engines don't really resemble those of any 'real' pods. That being said, I realize that the blue droid body is the required Iron Builder part, so I understand why you made the pods look this way. The micro buildings are very clean, too.

Wow. Stingiest O1 I've ever seen. We close the realm and go to Castle with two groups. I end up in a group that has no Priests, and the other group has, like, six. (ironically, we beat the other group to the courtyard) Go to Stone Guardians, get Drake+Magus. Okay, nice. Go to O1, me and two other guys are the only ones getting in Damage in all phases. (I was feeling pretty good after managing to drink two HP pots while dodging grenades inside the ring of bullets during "BE SILENT!", on a good note) One guy gets Att, the other guy and I get absolutely nothing, and some other dude who just jumped in now and then gets Roc. Did get Wis and Def from Pents and Necrotic from an earlier O1 run, so I've been turning a profit, but...

I had to Google to find out what that was ( ), but doesn't that have the circle inside a whole triangle, instead of just the one point?
