  1. Welcome to EB! I'm assuming it's the 2x2 inverted slopes in the nose that aren't available in dark tan? Doesn't look like the regular (non-inverted) ones are available in that color, either. But the 1x1 regular slopes are available in dark tan, so you could do something with SNOTed regular slopes to replace the inverted ones. Have you tried something like this? Now, this isn't the most elegant of solutions and does leave a quarter-plate gap, but in this case, I think it's actually the least gappy and the most compact way to invert the studs. The Technic half-pins can slip up into the 2x2 brick and the lowest pair of 1x2 slopes to hold the four inverted 1x2 slopes in place.
  2. Host newbs/Base Classes the first time around. Much easier to work with. Prepare your own outline before you start instead of having a jumble of notes or letting Zeph do it for you. Just to be safe, plan the scale of your quest based on the sets you can build; don't plan to build your sets based on the scale of your quest. Keep your sets and your plot flexible. For the players, railroading is not as fun as roaming around freely, and for the QM, railroading is definitely not as fun as penalizing the players when they do something stupid.
  3. There's a tutorial on embedding images from flickr here.

  5. I vaguely remember it being used as slang/abbreviation for 'vaporize' in some Star Wars novels.
  6. I can definitely nail down Docken to a list of numbers effectively.(And no, I don't mean 01000100, 01101111, 01100011, 01101011, 01100101, and 01101110.)
  7. Brickshelf is down right now and generally unreliable. Do not use Brickshelf. Photobucket for free users is easy to use and now offers original res, non-compressed-after-a-random-amount-of-time photos, and flickr of course did the big upgrade offering a TB of space and unlimited res for free users. Pick one of those instead.
  8. I can agree with the wheel bike idea, even if it's a PT idea. The wheel bike was a pretty cool idea in Sith, a concept that fit Grievous perfectly. And the '05 set was...a couple printed trans dishes.

  10. "Perhaps; we have plenty of 'heroes' who simply sit in the Hall enjoying the free food and drink. I'm sure there are plenty in the Hovels who would like that."I smile wryly. "It's good that you are able to find such talent in the Hovels and give these workers this opportunity. To cook the food and prepare the drink for Lord Guffington's parties, that must be no small task, yes?"

  12. Welcome to EB! It's always exciting to see a member start a project like this. If you want to embed your pictures from ImageShack, on that page you were on, you can right-click on the photo, copy the URL from the box that pops up, and paste it between img tags: [img=http://imageshack.us/a/img560/8783/opig.jpg]
  13. What is thy bidding, my master?
  14. I don't know if any of our EB members went to the event and took pictures, but I found these pictures on flickr by Klaus Algreen. Not quite as many MOCs as at the LLCA event, but one of the Danish LUGs was there with a bunch of the UCS sets on display along with some mosaics, some vignettes, and a very nice looking CTT.
  15. Where is this debate? I want to read it again.
  16. We did? I don't really remember any discussion on that, for or against the concept of the immortal elf.
  17. I think it would be easier to adjust the stickers to 6x6 in Photoshop, and then either apply them to a 6x6 tile in very light grey or a STAMP across multiple tiles. Isolate and move the important elements closer to the center, reduce the width, and then you'd probably have to redo the lime green and dark grey areas to shorten them and line them up with the bricks of their colors. I don't think it would be too hard, though it wouldn't be simple either. But probably the best looking solution. Although I think you should be able to swap out the 2x2x2 white slopes just behind the 6x6 panel area for 1x2x2 slopes, which would give you a little more space to work in. Reducing one of these decals to 7x6 will undoubtedly be easier than reducing to 6x6.
  18. You don't need to make the walls two studs thick, as long as you follow the 5:2 ratio when adding 1x1 bricks with one stud on their sides to the outer walls. (Five plates' height is the same as two studs' width, so if you place two 1x1 plates under a 1x1 brick with one stud on its side, then it'll be the same height as a 1x2 tile standing on its shorter side. Likewise, if you place two 1x1 plates and five 1x1 bricks under a 1x1 brick with one stud on its side, then the stack will be the same height as a 1x8 tile standing on its shorter side.) And I would avoid the use of panels unless you absolutely have to have a wall thinner than two plates wide. They're larger and appear more <insert that tiresome argument>.
  19. "Master U'Ordiussum. I was just speaking to one of the servers, a faun, and he mentioned that he and his fellow servers and the chef were hired just for this occasion, that Lord Guffington is helping the people of Eubric by hiring different workers from the Hovels. He mentioned that you handle this nowadays, and I was interested in hearing more about the process."
  20. "I think we must trust Doctor Everstein at this point; even if he does not respect the gravity of the situation, he knows everything about our plan. Lord Guffington and Doctor Daneeka appear to have full confidence in him. "Very well." I look around for U'Ordiussum, leaving the hall if necessary to find the U'Kin.
  21. Order 66*, then King Guts.*With which I refer to the houses, if it wasn't clear.
  22. OoC: For whatever reason I seriously just realized the Thomas/Tumnus connection in name and species. "Ah, I see. Good to hear that Lord Guffington's and U'Ordiussum are working so hard to help those both in the Hovels and from other areas. Well then, I'd hate to keep you from your work. Perhaps you can tell me more about fauns later."I shake Thomas' hand and excuse myself. I walk around and find Guts. "My apologies, Captain Holla; I didn't think it would be polite to come talk to you without even allowing the faun to respond. "If he is telling the truth, and I have little reason to believe he isn't, there're just the three servers and the chef that have been hired just for tonight; the three servers come from the Hovels, and Master Thomas doesn't know where the chef is from, but it's definitely not the Hovels. We can check with Master U'Ordiussum to confirm that; the faun said he handles the hiring."
  23. Excellent, outstanding review. Plenty of pictures, which are all crisp and well-lit, accompanied by a wealth of information and thorough writing. (Maybe other readers feel differently, but I like my reviews with information overload and walls of text; maybe that’s why I don’t like video reviews. ) To me, this looks to be on par with a Reviewers Academy review. The gunship may be a PT set, and I may be an OT fan, but the gunship is such a great vehicle that it's one of those that I think every LEGO Star Wars fan should buy at least once. I myself have some other sets I want to get instead, and I already have 7676, but if I didn't... this one looks like the best official set rendition yet.
  24. "...quicker, easier, more seductive."
  25. There're many things that seem very reasonable. You gotta think fourth-dimensionally.
