[TC18] Porsche 911/964 AWD
jorgeopesi replied to Limga's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The Muscle car from Zerobricks uses a very similar front axle but he fixes the problem using 2 axles 3 with stop between the gear rack and the connectors, when Lego uses independent suspension always uses Technic links. As I said I know there is tolerance between parts but it is something I can´t do or value. -

[TC18] Porsche 911/964 AWD
jorgeopesi replied to Limga's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I have seen this front axle and I have to say that I couldn´t use it, when the wheels turn the gear rack and the connector haven´t got a natural movement, too much for me. I know we have tolerance but I have very little. -

First aproach to a big fake working engine small enough for a small car... a little double V8. -

I know it but the front part of the car would be in the end too much fragile for my taste. -

You are right but if you hate sliding axles we only have a few solutions using the 5.5 axle. I do not know very well what to do yet, I just build as strong for the size as I can and then we will see what fits . I have seen a lot of front axles but I will use a strong one even losing the suspension, I have to start with the outside part that in my opinon is the most important thing working with these scales well in all scales . -

The good thing about these contests is that I always get something useful for the future. My two posibly rear axles, I like the one below because you can not take away the axle the upper one would be the everybody´s normal axle. -
It is a great MOC to learn about building in small places, very kind of you to share it with everybody.

You have done a very good work and the best is that you have a lot of time to improve details, I like a lot the rear part.- 52 replies

Another thing that I won´t use but this is about share ideas and I am watching a lot of good stuff so I share too. An even wider tyre using two small ones, they fit perfectly in the wheel. -
Just a few thoughts at the moment. Despite I usually like to build complicate MOCs I think this is not the time. My first front axle was this one and I do not know how this suspension would be called but I think I will not use it. Maybe will be better for once in my life to build as simple as I can trying to do a beautiful bodywork It will not be my style at all but I do not see any suspension enough good for my taste. If I get a car with HOG steering, fake engine, some openable parts and a recognozable bodywork I will be as happy as we can in these days...

I thought the same but in red, good luck. -
It is quite well for a two weeks work, It would take to me more than 3 months to get a decent car... The real car it is so ugly for me that I can not really apreciatte yours, just one question, why the rear wheels are displazed half a stud. I was using the same wheels, they are very good because now we can do narrowers awd cars.

[MOC] Mini Ural

My solution could be improved by adding the actuator piece and putting an axle to one of the pairs of triangles to operate the steering so you eliminate the gear rack. -

I would do it something like this but I suppose someone has already did the same. -

I will think about it . Thank you, looking for old pics I discovered that I already had done something so this will help me it is just a reverse own work using new parts if it is possible. Removing the awful steering system it is already a triump. -

It is a nice pic, if you look carefully the bonnet is too down in the center part I do not know why, the new one allows a better suspension and steering system and I think that one stud more of height on the roof would not hurt, we will see... It is hard to apply my minimalistic style to an aesthetic MOC but it would be good on the inside. -

I hope it is not a bother to reopen this thread. Due to our special situation I will have time to do something and I already have been working on the F40 rebuild, using the new pieces for maybe a Competizione version. It is almost the same but improving all the bad parts, better steering wheel system, improved bonnet, better suspensions, reduction of the number of pieces, I still don´t know how did I use so many... and more things like put or not to put the gearbox. I do not think it will be a very evident change on the outside but the inside it is quite different. -
