Robbers, bandits and the bad space-guys all had smiles up until mid 90s or so, and there were some very happy looking prisoners...

Great expansion on the original. I'm not a fan of how TLG put the prison pods out to the side like that, the 2 you've added look really good. Having multiple pairs of them longways behind each other would be better than how they did it, I think. Separate modules from the cockpit area, so that you could have 1, 2 or 5 identical sections between the front and back, still allowing for the separate ships function.

LEGO Ideas Discussion

In addition to that but not as drastic, 10c per part is less likely in an Ideas set because of a potential licence fee, special boxes & booklets, limited production and the "royalty" for the designer. -

I see now! That is interesting. Can you make the lever work from the top rather than bottom? The other assembly here you'd have to pull the pin up to turn off the light, it would be nice to toggle it easily from above, like the old 9V battery boxes.

It's a big hangup for some, but for me the scale difference is only really apparent when you can't put minifigs in something. In this case, you can't put minifigs in the TIEs, and they are far from the same size as the "system scale" TIEs, so it is noticeable to me. If it didn't have the TIEs, I probably wouldn't care one bit. As it is, I care a very very small bit. -
To add to my previous comment, her helmet is a different colour now too. So that's 2... (and we never got the pink helmet yet...) I'm guessing we'll get a new Rex as well, but I wonder about the 2 new inquisitors. Probably! Yeah Rebels is going well so far, and improving. I guess it's going to be axed next week then, that's how things usually go isn't it? I still don't like Chopper.

I was originally not going to get the Carrier, but did in the end. It's far from being in scale with everything else, but I like it. The minifigs are all nice. -

I thought it was last year's calendar, I thought "$30 is pretty good even if it's an old one - and it's the one with a jawa, stormtrooper & Hoth rebel" then when I get home it turns out it's the new one! -

I hope that the Corvette failed because of the "we're making something too similar" or "we have too many cool cars that this would eat into our sales" explanations. I can accept those. Not that I would've bought it anyway, but it looked nice, marketable and fairly reasonable in size, unlike most proposals. 0/13 was a surprise, but not entirely unexpected given the actual projects in review. -
I agree, it's the same as the first wave.

The cannon is nothing special. I got all 3 sets for the minifigs, but BL might be a better choice for the AV-7 set clones, considering you have little interest in the cannon itself. -

What happened to the stormtrooper? It's not coming up for me today. I don't want a smegging Christmas train... -

Wow. Thanks for that. The movies & TV shows from the mid 20C were typically "cowboys (in general) are good, indians are bad". I had some plastic army-style men as a kid. I think the political correctness movement (or perhaps, anti-racist) has made the western/frontier theme (I don't mean Lego, I mean over all) a warmish potato in recent decades. Some good movies here & there but generally left alone. It's the most recent real-world conflict that TLG touches, and they don't like to go close to modern-day conflict, but this could perhaps be pushing the limit anyway considering it was certain people groups being attacked rather than location-based victims of pirates and castle knights. Probably best left alone as it's a sore spot for many alive today.

Likewise, I only saw the competition the other day and forgot about it before too late. Some cool ideas! -

You could add the Jek-14s to the list of arm-printing. When all the regulars read the thread's new posts, all the questions get seen by many and answered in good time, and don't get buried under moc topics. It doesn't matter that the same questions get asked now & then. In regard to your question, I don't have any old Boba Fetts but I do have one of the new helmet-moulded ones (from Desert Skiff a few years ago) and I think that one is quite nice, and with the separate helmet and jetpack makes it far superior to the rare old ones. The latest one from UCS Slave I is an upgrade even on that one, well worth going for instead. I think the latest one is the best, what with the leg & arm printing as well as the nicer colours & moulds. -
Plus Hera is only available in the full-sized Ghost until now, and that set has been available for over a year. Also, I have a billion TIE pilots from OT, yet very few storm troopers. (I have enough of both from Rebels without hitting BL or parting out sets.) So these new ones, people are concerned that there aren't any cheaply available TIE pilots, and who wants more snow troopers (that are available in a smallish set) in a microfighter? It's like getting those orange bomb squad guys instead of more useful plain white clones. Cheap stormies, people! Can't go wrong!
