Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
Artanis I replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I always spend the $200 when I place an order. This time was hard though, because there wasn't much left of existing releases that I wanted. That is why I didn't order anything last week, the R3 promo is more important than the R2! And I used VIP points, so it didn't matter that there isn't a discount or bonus at the moment. If you are referring to the tracking link sent from S@H, then that is customs or the airport or some warehouse. Some kind of processing is required before sending it on, and the next tracking entry won't occur until the morning of delivery. Not sure about you, but it takes a few days to deliver to me from Sydney. Depending on where you live, S@H orders will almost always take @10-13 business days. So if I were you, I'd be expecting it early next week if not this Friday. You probably know that already -

I'm not absolutely sure, but I can't think of any occasion where a promo minifig has been released at Lego stores/S@H in "Not-USA" (ie Europe, Asia etc) and never in USA at some point. Usually if it isn't a worldwide promo, then it happens the other way around (comes out there first, then everywhere else months later). I don't think Americans will miss out (and as has been said, it's available at some physical locations there), but it may be a bit of a wait this time. If it was me, I would imagine I'd be picking it up with sets from either of the next 2 waves. -
Thanks for the pics, guys. I forgot about the tank! Looking forward to a few of these new sets. The quadjumper looks better than I thought it would, but still a pass for me. I have all of those minifigs already, perhaps I might get the ship separate on BL? I got the R3 polybag from S@H with a keyring (and GOTG sets - already have everything SW I want that's out) so I'm happy with that.

How long does a bricklink order usually take?
Artanis I replied to Brikkyy13's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Yes, just postage time. I forgot to mention those times don't include the things like invoice, payment etc part of a BL order. Well, Australia Post is effective but not efficient. I once received a letter from a building 2 blocks from my home, it took a week to arrive because it went via the capital city. Their methods ensure that everything gets where it should at the expense of taking the long route. If you lived closer to civilisation it would be quicker. When I say 1-2 weeks it's probably more like 3 to 6 business days, but Murphy's Law dictates that if delivery could possibly be delayed over the weekend then it will. -

A decent shadow or outline effect (if that is possible) should help to contrast the text etc from the background image. -

Never order from Canada if you're in a hurry. At least not to the other side of the world! I've bought lots of stuff (Lego & other) from all around the world over the last decade and the times seem to go like this: Australia (local): 1-2 weeks (usually not cheap postage) East Asia (China etc): lottery, good luck (could be a few days or a few months, cheap or free) UK: 1.5-3 weeks (Royal Mail air mail is quick and cheap, bigger stuff is slower and expensive) USA: 2-5 weeks (you usually have a good idea of when it will arrive according to the seller's approximation, usually expensive) Denmark (Lego S@H): 3 weeks every time (very expensive if it's not free) Germany: 2-4 weeks (price varies) Other Europe: 2-6 weeks (not cheap) Canada: 4 weeks nearly every time I prefer USA & Germany due to the cheaper items & higher availability. But the postage costs can get crazy from US. As far as small BL orders is concerned, UK is often better. -

So, results of the current batch (of 12+1) are coming soon... and we have 11 projects for the next one. Must be time for a new poll! -
Aussie sales! Share the news of LOCAL sales!
Artanis I replied to Darth_Legois's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Got this in an email from Toyworld: Couldn't find anywhere what the "free gift" was. In the past Toyworld has had sought-after promo minifigs, I am wondering if it is that new astromech or whatever. Does anyone have any info? Would be nice to know in advance if I need to make arrangements, what being only available for 1 day. -

That looks good, all fleshed out instead of 2 or 3 of this, 5 of that, 1 of everything else -

North America S@H tends to have its own stock of everything, so you're not missing out. Rest of the world gets theirs from Denmark -
I can't speak for everywhere, but the wave 2 sets sold badly here too. Rather than have big discounts for wave 3, we had very limited stock, at the retailer's request. I didn't even see any of it, it sold out that fast. (I had to order from S@H at full price) Perhaps it wasn't a poorly received film that caused your ASDA discounts, but rather your suggestion. (off topic, but we were talking about it) From what I recall, though, the 3rd movie wasn't considered nearly as favourably as the other 2. The extended edition was much better, but obviously way too late to save the Lego sets, and general public perception. For me personally, I thought the cinema version looked amazing but was over-the-top in action and the cut wasn't executed that well, it was like they rushed to meet the deadline and handed in a substandard unfinished effort. (Anyone who wants to use the argument "it must be good/well-received because a lot of people went to see it" just needs to remember The Phantom Menace) But regarding %-offs, there's "let's give them an incentive to come in and buy stuff" sales and "let's get rid of these liabilities clogging up shelf space" sales. It's usually pretty obvious when it's the latter! (even though not always warranted - especially with Hobbit 3 sets, I didn't think they were that bad)

What would you like for the next Castle line?
Artanis I replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
The accents could be in any colour, but apart from the Kingdoms dark green, TLG seems to fall back on red & blue every time. I would like to have a different accent colour and a not lion/dragon/crown crest. If they can manage that, I don't care if the sets are the same as every single previous theme release... humans v humans I wouldn't care. Just give me some normal knights in normal castles this time, new colour & crest and I will be happy. -
Exchange rates are irrelevant in this business. Especially to/from USD.

All very true!

The ring is bigger than I expected. Don't think I'll be getting that set. I thought the same as soon as I saw the pics. Not that it bothers me, just an observation. No rumour, just dashed remote hopes.

Too bad it isn't the May the 4th minifig

The Future of Lego Space. (opinions, ideas, discussion)
Artanis I replied to Trekkie99's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Yep, me too... Although I have bought all of the sets from the modern Space themes & a lot of the late 90s, I still consider the last "real" Space theme to be Exploriens. After that point it gets difficult to mix the factions together in one big cohesive display. 1996! Yet the last "compatible" Castle release was 2013. I think time has well and truly left us CS fans behind, going forward it's tribute sets or nothing.- 991 replies

It isn't in all of the photos... it must be optional It is quite likely either a bent hose or a whip piece. Not sure that there's a tail(ish) part that long and thin.

[HELP] Embedding Youtube Videos
Artanis I replied to teos's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Following on from Jim's post, sometimes when you copy & paste there is a "paste with/without formatting" type of option. Try seeing if one of those makes a difference. If a message comes up below your post "You have pasted content with formatting. Remove formatting" ... simply click on "Remove formatting". Your text may turn into a hyperlink in the normal posting font. If you then add a line break after it, in a brief moment the video should appear. -

That is b&w Disney movie stuff your grandma listens to all day, except without the horrendous early gramophone (inconsistent speed, no bass, no treble) sound... Could you imagine, a monument to 21C Earth culture being Justin Bieber or something

They are summarised from multiple sources, a few of whom are reliable. When I saw that hyperlink my brain saw the words "Celebration Lando" as in a new Lando Calrissian minifig with a medal
