Absolutely seconded: It's all about the cool double-barrel gun. The minifig itself is nice to have, besides the helmet/face letdown you already mentioned. I'm still a bit undecided about the trans-orange cones. They should be on the downside (representing flames) rather than on top of the wings. But than again the fig cannot stand any more. It's the same here in Germany: Spend more than 35€ on AC sets and receive the dude for free. The latest Lego Club magazine came with a coupon to get one of those for free as well. So we got three of the lovely polybags. Currently they are on sale for just 2€ at amazon.de. A recommended buy if you ask me! Join us in Billund next year and I'll be happy to give you one of those...

Lego Milling Machine
Holodoc replied to paul_delahaye's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Absolutely seconded! I had a look at the video. First I thought I knew what the machine would do, but at the end I was a bit disappointed... Until the vacuum cleaner went to work... This was even better than what I expected. Very, very clever! Think of all the things you could do with that machine. You'd never have to buy birthday presents again. Yep. And it's definitely not the original Lego program! -
Wonderful and very inspiring! And you adapted the interior as well - great! Thank you for sharing your terrific idea. I would tear my heart in two pieces if I did that with my modular street though.

How to Build a Lego Monorail (Without Monorail Tracks)
Holodoc replied to DLuders's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Thanks Dluders and FONIX for sharing those incredible MOCs. I always like to see what others come up with concerning a self-made monorail. I've got plenty of original monorail stuff, but the MOCs are really tempting to try something completely different. @FONIX why did you build the track upside down? Would't have had tiles the same effect, or is there a special reason behind it? -
Is it better to buy from the Lego Catalog?
Holodoc replied to foolio93's topic in General LEGO Discussion
So you have 10% at Target's versus VIP points, which make 5%. Questions? The only reason to buy off the catalog are the sets that are S@H exclusives (like the pet shop, etc.) If you do so watch out for double VIP points and something like that, normally offered around 2-4x/year. And one more point: Always consider shipping costs! They always ( ) come on top of the S@H costs in contrast to other big internet shopping sites. You know what/whom I'm talking about... -
You can also find the original instructions of set 7888 at brickfactory.com

Hi harmacy! Very smart use of the diagonally laid tiles! This scene is so wonderful, I cannot stop looking at it. That chain fence impressed me a lot, too! I didn't know those short chains existed. Thanks to Bricklink I now know these are new within the Ninjago theme. Very clever! The chain is attached to lightsaber hilts, part 577 . Taster bricks? Is that you? I think we have met before...

A wonderful creation so far. This is the first time I stumble upon your brilliant modular street. But be sure your name will be listed in my "have to look at" list. I especially like the look of the houses side by side - they all look like they were build in the same time. Just like a well preserved street from the last century. The different widths add to that great feeling. Very well done! Are you planning to make the river underneath the last house more visible? It would be a pitty if it gets drowned ... Although I had to lough seeing the "pets" and "bets" sign/house next to each other I would prefer to seperate them.

Forest Rangers / Policemen + Me = Money still in my wallet to spend on other things! But I'm happy with it. The brown bear sounds interesting though.

If only I could see something. Am I the only one to see the text above instead of photos?

How cool is this thread? and a big boo to myself for not recognizing a lot earlier... Very inspiring, indeed!

Thanks for the info. It's always nice to read something from a different angle. Aaaand downloading!

Maybe I can jump in here to answer a few of the quetions. As far as I know there is either a camping site (card probably required) or the chalets (no extra card). And the chalets are for 4 persons. So if you would like to stay with just you and your beloved one that would be quite expensive, but sharing with another couple could be an option then. Beware though: it's just my rememberance, for official answers please wait for Boney.

Thanks for the heads up, TaltosVT! And .... downloaded (yesterday). Hooo - right on time as I see now.

Well I've got two copies of the train and found it hard to see (the 90° issue) in the instructions. (Maybe they made new instructions, too?) But even when I realized to put the wheels the right way there were still the other problems. So for a smooth run it is necessary to make the modifications.

You may want to add my small train station I built some "days" ago from set 4954 - Creator Model Town House.
-
Just to keep this topic updated - there's a fix of the known problems published in Railbricks magazine no. 7, page 31-33. I've done all the changes and it runs very, very smoothly. I will do a longer run of the engine on sunday, so I'll keep you updated.

Ouch - I didn't answer to this topic! Shame on me. Such a beautiful creation! But, to be honest, I didn't expect anything less. Now on to the SantaFe! Hilarious!

I think there are waaaay to many question marks to comment any further than what I just did. But speculation ON nevertheless.

Happy birthday my fellow! Hope you didn't have a hard working day today. So just relax and celebrate. Party ON!

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 5 discussion
Holodoc replied to eiker86's topic in Special LEGO Themes
It says so in the official 2nd half 2011 catalog in Germany: That means almost any shop is going to sell them for exactly this price. They started with extra parts in series 1, then they stopped including them in the bags, now they rise the price. I would never ask for anything like that in normal sets. And if they just would do what they did in series 1, wouldn't that be more fair? Giving something in reward for asking more? -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 5 discussion
Holodoc replied to eiker86's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I don't have any issues with doublettes, so far I have just one viking from series 4 I don't need. But all in all I spent around 300€ for all 4 series. So we are not talking about cent-issues. The thing that upsets me the most is that TLC is squeezing us like citrus fruits. And for what reason? There is none besides the fact that they make more money that way. No single improvement on the figs themselves. It even got worse . I'm talking about the not any more existing spare tools and the existing color problem (see my post above). And I wouldn't be angry if they rise the price and give us something in reward for that. - double sided torsos all the way - better white printings - more tools It's business after all and we all want TLC to make money to a certain extent. But in this case I feel like being robbed. 25% and noboy here raises his voice? I still don't get it. Wouldn't we all be upset if they rose the price of normal, let's say city sets by 25%? Why not here? *cooling down again* Thanks for the reminder of 3000 posts, by the way. If you hadn't posted it, I would not have realized. I'll come back to the hot chocolate and the buiscit whenever I'm close to Hamburg. -
REVIEW: 8805 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 5
Holodoc replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Thanks for this great review in general and special thanks for the excellent photos with the comparisons to other (older) collectible minifigs! I will get this series again for sure (somehow I'm still NOT thinking it's the best series yet - it just finishes (or continues) the lines that have been brought to the market before), but there's one thing that really pisses me off (and although you were asking for not commenting here, I still do it): NO! This is NOT reasonably priced (come on 2,50€ for a simple minifig??? Look at the royal guard and the woodcutter: That's no white printing on the torso - it's reddish white (like Bonaparte already pointed out)...just like the poor quality on the PotC army torso's ). One tool (again), where there used to be two (in the first series)? I will surely get less minifigs that in the other series. I have the strong feeling that these figs are selling so well up to now, that this lead to the conclusion at TLC: Hey, we can ask another 25% more for the figs! Why don't we just do it? Lousy greedy TLC people! I really hate you for raising the price. May you choke on your greed! -
