:-D Yeah, I'd noticed that too.

Just got back from seeing it. Great film. The ending got the spectacle it deserved, and Imelda Staunton as Umbridge was a piece of great casting, as was the girl who played Luna. I think it helped that I've not read the book for a few years, so it allowed me to see the film with less of a preconcieved idea. Talking about the books, with the last one out later in the week, I thought I'd point this out. My friend e-mailed me this link earlier: http://blogs.guardian.co.uk/books/2007/07/...n_is_the_p.html Firstly, as if anyone would actually buy it at full price when it's available for less. Sure it's 'the right thing to do' but no-one will. Secondly, perhaps some of the language is repetetive, but overall it's the story that matters. A good story should win, and here it does. And thirdly, his opinion is clearly wrong. So there. :-P How miserable are you? ;-)

No, the Bumblebee's having problems were the Deluxe 70s Camaro. The tab at the front that locked the front of the car in place in vehicle mode was too thick, thus stopping the section from locking. This only happened on some toys though, and I heard you could tell through the box if you looked properly. As far as I know, this one's fine.

Oh yes, of course. Should've known that... :-$

You know, you've just reminded me of another cool species, Ysalamari, who have the ability to repel the force by creating Force-neutral bubbles.

Review: 7786 Batman - Batcopter: The Chase for the Scarecrow
Brainbox replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Licensed
Thanks for the review. I'm definitely getting this, mainly becasue it's Batman. I love the blue Bats, the Scarecrow is good as ever, and those new pumpkins are just *wub* . There's a few things I'll MOD, but nothing really major. I'll have to wait till I get this to decide properly though. -
I looked it up for you, Roron Corobb. Is that him?

:-D Here's another one. There was a secretary that used to interfere at board meetings, trying to do everyone else's job. And while she was sat at the table, she used to take her shoes off. Everyone was really irritated by her, so one day my grandad managed to take her shoes and hide them. They came to leave, and she couldn't find her shoes. No-one ever suspected it was him. And at another meeting, someone glanced out the window to see a load of pigs running down the road. No farmer in sight, nothing. Just pigs. *wacko*

I caught a report of the spectacle on Richard & Judy yesterday (no, I don't watch it). It looked to be quite a good time. Anyway, the presenter of the report, Danny Wallace, bought a small Vader minifig statue built from Lego, and got Dave Prowse to sign it. It's being auctioned off for Build Africa, and I just thought I should bring it to your attention. It's not a maquette, btw, but an actual statue built from bricks. Anyway, details can be found here.

Let's not forget mine... Very nice Riddler, and all instantly recognisable. First, Second, Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, Ace (?), Tenth. ;-)

Various household items! (ipod, pencils, etc!)
Brainbox replied to SirNadroj's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Oh, those pencils are great. Simple, but superbly executed. *y* -
Y'know, that's just what I was going to say. :-$ I suppose I kind of like Wookies as well. Partly becasue of their reliance of quasi-organic technology, and partly becasue they just are.

Problems with BS / Is BrickShelf no more ???
Brainbox replied to john cleese's topic in General LEGO Discussion
They did on the old hompage. -
Just came across this, and thought of this contest. It would appear it's from a Simpsons episode which parodies the Star War Mustafar battle. These are the end credits for the episode: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vueEpDFllk4...related&search=

The person above me is experienced. No, that's not what I meant. ;-)

I thought that with the recent news of BS vanishing, that we all needed ceering up. So I thought of this topic. The funniest thing I could think of were a few stories of things that have happened to my Grandad. You may find them funny, you may not. But hopefully, it'll cheer some of you up a bit :-) . 1. He used to work at Triplex, as some department head or something. In case you don't know, Triplex manufacture glass and stuff, but that's not really important. He says that the forklift truck drivers used to drive down to the canteen for drinks, etc for their colleagues. But when stopping, they'd put the brake on, and jump off the truck while it was stopping. So, one day, a guy did this, and walked into the canteen. Next thing he knew, he heard a loud crash, and turned to see his forklift smashing throught the new glass wall/window of the canteen! :-D 2. He was talking to someone who worked at the shopping centre in Telford (where he lives) about mobility scooters. Here's what the staff member said: "yeah, we've just got two new scooters. Well, we've got one new scooter, the other one was being used by a woman who failed to stop when going through a shop door." :-D 3. Recently, he was backing into a parking space, when he heard a thud and a creak. Looking in his rear view mirror, he realised he'd backed into the parking charges sign. He proceeded to drive away, quickly... 4. Him and his wife were asked by a friend to look after her garden while she was on holiday. So they said yes, and did so. Towards the end of the time, they were getting ready to set off, and backed out of the drive. Unfortunately, on the way out, they ran over a small tree/bush, and I mean ran over it. They stopped the car, replanted the tree as best they could, and went home. Strangely enough, their friend never knew. There's plenty more where that came from, but this is all I can think of at the moment.

Yeah, me too. That's a great programme, is it not? And I mean both new and old. Anyway, I like this. I'll probably get it when it finally becomes available in the UK. I think there's a few things I'll MOD, but overall it's very nice. Although it's interesting (and slightly creepy) how much the lights at the front look like eyes... And, as I've said many a time before, I love the motorbike!

... or the UK. |-/

I just meant that they're not perhaps as well known as some other characters, especially the Big Three. And their rogues galleries don't really stand out. Apart from Deathstroke, I suppose.

I did that for my Sonic Screwdriver, making sure all the printing was aligned. I've actually no idea why. I'd show you the MOC, but, oh yeah, it's on BS... I have quite a few models on display, but that doesn't mean I don't play with them. Lego is, after all, a toy. I also play with MOCs sometimes. I believe the word is 'swooshing' ;-)

I'll try and get images for mine back up later by moving them to Maj for the time being. That is, of course, presuming that Maj doesn't disappear as well. EDIT: Done.

Not really, no. Same here. All my friends know, and quite a lot of other people know too. My friends think nothing of it, as a true friend should. One occasionally gives me a bit of jip about it, but he doesn't mean it, and it's all done with humourous intent. When I first started high school, and people started to find out, some people thought it was a bit 'sad.' But as we got older, it started to become less odd, as people got to know me, and came to realise that it was me. Besides, a few of my friends secretly think it's kinda cool ;-) . At the beginning of September I'm starting college, and already a few people know. I went for a day there the other week, and told a few people about it. Nothing more, nothing less. I don't make any attempt to hide my love of Lego either. It's all over my room, I carry two Lego keyrings (Snowtrooper and The Joker), and have an ice cube tray. Yes, Hinckley, I do like it. So, no, I've not had a Dark Age. I got my first set(s) when I was about 4 or 5. They were two promos from Ready Brek, a Pirate raft and a Castle catapult. Unfortunately, my mum didn't keep the boxes or the instructions, and I can't seem to find any trace of either set. It doesn't really help that I don't remember them that much. I'm now nearly 17, and still going strong. And hopefully I'll continue to. The only problem that may arise, is when I come to move out and go to Uni or whatever. I don't know where I'll put all my Lego... Still, that's not for a few years yet. Plenty of time to buy even more! ;-)

Problems with BS / Is BrickShelf no more ???
Brainbox replied to john cleese's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'm away from the computer for a day, and all Hell breaks loose. Thankfully, I've got half my pictures saved on a CD, and the other half still on my PC. So all I need to do is move the important ones to Maj, or set up a Flickr accoun. Or, if push comes to shove, I can host them on Photobucket or Imageshack. Sure, no one will be able to view them there, but I can still post them here. However, that doesn't make it any better for the hundreds of users who don't have hard copies of their pictures. We know they still exist, but we can't get at them. And, not to breed worry, we don't know whether they will contiue to be 'there.' The problem with making BS an obligatory pay-site is that it would divide the whole AFOL community, and distance large numbers of people. And what about all the younger users, or those users who can't afford to pay for the privilige of hosting their images on a site. What about children, or students? That includes myself. Budgetting is very important, and I'm having to work out what I can afford right now, having to take into account food, clothes, transport, magazine subscription fees, phone credit, new Lego purchases, film tickets, DVDs, etc. It's an incredible blow to the whole Lego community, never mind just the AFOL one. I frequently checked out Brickshelf for other people's MOCs/MODs/set pictures, using them as either inspiration, or simply entertainment. The other sites just aren't as easy to browse. MOCPages only lets you upload a few pictures, and people are free to comment on your creations. That's not something I really want, with the exception of people here. Flickr tends to take a while to load the picture you're trying to view, and again there's the feedback thing. Maj isn't really for Lego, and since it's essentially the same as BS, it might be volatile. And Imageshack and Photobucket you can't really browse. But like I said, I've got my pictures saved as a back-up, so I won't do anything with them yet, with the exception of my contest entries, which I'll probably upload to Maj for the time being, just so they can still be used as entries. I'll wait and see how this pans out, and if BS comes back, as it may well do, then good. If not, I'll have to find another route. I mean, I've still got here. -
Maj does moderate content, but all uploads are instantly viewable. It's still up, and my Brickshelf login still works. Thankfully, I've backed up all my MOC photos myself anyway, some on CD, some are still on my PC.

Watched 'Alien vs Predator' with my dad on Saturday night. He described it as "a bit of stuff and nonsense." And I couldn't have put it better myself. And, as cool as the aliens are, the Predators are just so much cooler.
