Thanks. In the US yeah, but not over here. Season 1 ended about 2 weeks ago, and Season 2 is due to air next year. I'd certainly like to. It all depends on whether or not I can find suitable pieces.

I figured this should go here, rather than the MCW, since it's made with unmodified pieces. But move if need be. Anyway, the other week was the UK showing of the Heroes Season 1 finale. I really enjoyed the series, so thought I'd commemorate the finale showing somehow. I came up with this. It was actually built on the same day as the finale, and he even watched it with me :-$ ! It's just taken me a while to get round to photographing him. It's a minifig version of Hiro Nakamura, the Japanese office worker who can mainpulate time and space, allowing for teleportation, time travel, and time stopping. I'm pretty pleased actually. I feel I managed to capture the look of the character with what I had, in a nice simple way. Of course, he's carrying the sword of Takezo Kensei, over his shoulder as he does in the series. That's a Lego rubber band, btw. The EF hair's not as bad as you might think. As the series progressed, his hair did start to get a bit 'bigger.' Anyway, comments, crticisms and questions welcome.

Okay, so as you know, Christmas is fast approaching. Now, I've known my friends now for about 12 weeks, since we all started college. We all came from different schools, and didn't know each other before we met, but we seemed to bond really fast. So I thought 'well, since we decided not to buy each other presents, I won't bother. But, I will try something as an experiment, and if it goes well, show them, calling it a sort of pseudo-present." I've been messing about with Lego art recently (more on that in the future), and I started wondering how easy it would be to draw a minifig version of someone real. Not real as in film or comics character (a la Star Wars or Batman), but a real person. That's when I thought about combining the two areas. Draw a picture of the five of us, and if it's good, show it off. So, without further wittering ( ;-) ), I present... The Five Maths-keteers! The title comes from the fact that the five of us sit together on in maths, and is obviously a pun on The Three Musketeers. The trick is to seize on a few significant details, and characterise them. So, from the left, we've got "Pilch." That's a nickname, btw, but don't ask me where it's come from. I don't know and neither does he. The distinctive characteristics here are the red hair, and the not-so-much-of-a-smile. Moving on, we've got Kelsey. I'm particularly pleased with the rendition of the official ponytail piece here. Really, that and the iPod are the distinctive aspects. Next up, there's me. You've all seen my sigfig, but here I decided to go for a 'more accurate' jacket, perhaps a bit of a trademark. My distinctive features are the rectangular glasses and the long(ish), blonde hair. Alex now. Again, glasses make him look realistic, but there's also the slightly cheeky grin. Add that to his 'hand on chin' photograph pose, and his man-scarf undereneath his jacket. Finally, there's Kim. I suppose it's the haistyle (again) and the wide smille that make her accurate to the real thing. So, all in all, a successful endeavour. I'm aware you don't know these people, so can't draw any comparisons or anything, but I just thought it'd be nice to share. I've not shown the others yet, but I'll try and show them tomorrow, so I'll let you know what they think. Thanks for looking (and for reading my very wordy post), and as usual comments, criticisms and questions are most welcome.

SW Rogue Shadow and all Indy sets now available in the UK
Brainbox replied to Vader's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Hmm... I may have to go after Christmas. I'm not going to go before, as firstly I don't really want duplicates, and second I don't really have time. Some of the prices are a little high, but what else would we expect from the UK? -
Ooh, liking the cloak on Mace. Nice work.

Ah, touche! Ver nice work though, and they're all very nice.

Personally, I tend to see him as 'so insane, he's almost sane.' He's unpredictable, and somewhat inhuman(e), but just a little bit suave. And funny, he should always be funny. And then there's the occasional allusion to his metafictional awareness. As in, he's so insane he exists in a slightly higher mental state and knows of his fictional nature. BTAS did it a bit, as do the comics. No, it won't work for me either.

Maybe the dye/paint is fused into his face, or becomes that way during the film. Anyhow, it really does look fantastic. It seems to be really focusing on the 'dark' side of the Dark Knight. Sadly the new Bat-garage looks a little threadbare. Maybe he should get some... new Batmobiles :-D ;-) "Evening... Commissioner."

Ah yes, the posters. I was going to post those, but you got there first. That middle one with the Joker in his purple suit is quite good. Really? I've always preferred green Ivy ... yes, a very good point. As long as it's the blue Az-Bat, rather than the later red version. That said though, I'm not really fussed on Azrael. I never really took to him as a character. The Youtube video's gone, btw. The myspace one's still there though, and I have to say... wow. "Why so serious?" :'-)

new impulse sets are out

Bear in mind though, SlyOwl, that the cost of the box, the instructions and the polybag have to be taken into account as well. -
Mine doesn't really have a story either. Then again, I don't suppose it really can, seeing as how my sigfig is me. The Brainbox sigfig is the same as the Sam sigfig. As for choice of outfit, it's just the closest Lego design to something I'd actually wear.

Watched Bionicle: Mask of Light this afternoon. Well, not a classic, but it's a Lego film, so what more can you ask for? Besides, I wanted to get a good look at Turaga Vakama's movie design.

I can't as I don't actually own the set, so I'd quite like both- a regular Batcycle, and a Batpod. What? No! The Riddler is a fantastic character. Definitely up there with Scarecrow and Joker as my favourite Batvillains. He's just such a fantastic character. And then there's Frank Gorshin's giddly, giggling Riddler... It's different, I'll grant you. But so was the Tumbler, and people didn't like that until they saw it in action. Give it time. You make me sound like a parrot! The iconic costumes (not counting Elseworlds) are really the Golden Age, the Silver Age (dark blue, with and without yellow oval), the 60s suit (complete with eyebrows!), the long-eared, the fabric-like Alex Ross costume, the short eared, the BB batsuit, the Keaton batsuit, and the new TDK suit. Speaking of Elseworlds, it's be quite nice to see some don. Maybe Gotham by Gaslight, DKR/DKSA, JSA: Unholy Three (WW2 Batman) or Batman in Bethlehem (Damien Wayne Batman). Oooh, or maybe the vampiric Red Rain Bats.

Hmm, if only I lived near a Lego store. Anyhow, that means it won't be too long before they're out in general retail. Thiose 5x5x2 boxes sound really cute though. -
Had a full day of mock exams today :-| Sigh, it's been a long day. No, scratch that, it's been a long week. Still, easy week next week. Monday morning off, Tuesday afternoon off, then finish for Christmas on Wednesday. :-D

Something a bit different actually. I'm currently working on a piece of Lego related 'art' as a sort of joint Christmas present for my friends... that I'm keeping. I will post it here, yes, just to show off my work.
-
I've been quite busy lately actually. On Saturday, I went Christmas shopping with some friends. Bit wet, but enjoyable nonetheless. Sunday, I did some revision... ...for yesterdays mock exam. And today, I spent all afternoon trying to get the computer to turn on.
-
Hmm, I appear to have a bit of a backlot to discuss, my computer's been a bit temperamental lately. That said, I can't remember which day I last commented on, so I'll just skip ahead to today. So, the second set of the harbour theme. Pretty nice actually. But I have to ask, what happened to the ridiculous numbers of spare pieces? We've not had many recently.

A truck with a large hammer mounted on top perhaps. Personally, I'd just like more UCS Batmobiles. Different designs, of course, but Batmobiles nonetheless. The movie's are being made by WB, who own DC Comics, so they're actually one and the same. Speaking of the Movie, seen these? Mmm, Batpod...

Arrgghh, the pain! The pain! ;-) He'd actually be relatively easy to make as well, just use a black skellie head. I t wouldn't be too hard though, you could make him like a small minifig with a whole in his back for Wesker's hand. Personally though, I'd love a Ventriloquist and Scarface. As long as it was the old one, not the new one (Sugar). Nothing against her, just that Wesker's a better character. Oh, and the news that the Buggy's been confirmed is good, as it means that the others might be (definitely) real.

Question: do people buy you LEGOs as gifts?
Brainbox replied to Medievalego's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I used to always get Lego for birthdays and Christmases, but the last few years it's dwindled. Last Christmas I got two smallish sets rather than the 'usual' large set, and last birthday I didn't get any. I think part of the reason for that is that my parents (and my friends to a certain extent) don't really know what exactly to get me. It's not that they don't appreciate or understand my hobby obsession, and it's not that they want me to stop, it's just that they don't know which themes I do and don't want, and my friends know even less. Now, I don't expect my friends to buy me Lego, but if they did want to, they'd have to ask me what to get. Besides, my dad can never remember any of the sets I point out... That's the beauty of money. I can buy my own Lego after Christmas and it's usually the new years worth, reather than whatever's left in the shops from last year. I don't mind really. Still, it'd be nice to get some this Christmas. -
I didn't realise Vader's helmet was that piece. Hmm, I might have to go and experiment with that... I'm not familiar with The Force Unleashed, so I can't really comment on thesem but they all look like prety nice figs nonetheless.
