The suit they had prepared for Wolverine for The Wolverine looked great! I don't see why they don't go with that! In the Avengers's defense, the only two members of the team that really have costumes in the books are Cap and Hawkeye. Everything else is armor or a uniform or a straight-up transformation. I do wish they would've done a little more for Hawkeye's outfit, maybe adding something similar to the mask or some equivalent to the little feather patterned skirt-thing. As for the price, I don't think $4 is TOO bad. It's certainly harder to buy a whole stack, but keeping up with one or two books isn't that hard. There just aren't a lot of places to get comics, and most people just don't seem to appreciate them. Reading comics requires commitment of the highest degree. You have to spend four dollars every week or so to get the next chapter in a story that's who knows how long. Not to mention the way DC built the New 52 so that you have to buy every title to really understand what's going on. I tried keeping up with Teen Titans and Batman and Robin, but I couldn't do it. Now I just try to read the trade paperbacks when I can get my hands on them.

My specialty: Robin backstories! Okay, so Jason Todd was this hoodrat kid that Batman caught trying to steal the tires off of the Batmobile. This wasn't too long after Dick Grayson became Nightwing and left Batsy Robin-less, so Bruce took him in and made him the second Robin. As he got older, he turned into a grade-A douchebag, until one day Joker beat him to death with a crowbar in a warehouse rigged with explosives (READ AS: there was a fan vote as to whether or not he should live, and one guy rigged it to make sure he died). Of course, this really messed up Batman and made him almost go over the edge until Tim Drake came along, but that's another story. So later on, after the Infinite Crisis where Superboy punched reality and caused a giant retcon which brought Jason back to life, Jason took to the streets of Gotham as vengeance-ridden gang-killing badass vigilante Red Hood, specifically out there trying to force Batman into a situation where he would have to kill the Joker or Jason. Get all the magnificient details as to how that went down in the Under the Hood story arc, or by watching the incredible animated adaptation Batman: Under the Red Hood. Anyway, these days he's mostly on the side of good leading a team called Red Hood and the Outlaws, consisting of himself, Red Arrow/Arsenal, and Starfire. Oh yeah, and after Batman died (temporarily) he became a vengeance-ridden gang-killing badass vigilante Batman until Nightwing took him down and became Batman for quite awhile in the Battle for the Cowl storyline. Good question! I'm not too fond of him constantly in the SWAT suit.

I hope we do eventually get a classic Cap suit like that. That was one of my favorite of the Phase 1 films, even though most people thought it was just so-so. I've never really read any of Marvel's stuff, and I haven't seen many of the cartoons, but I am very fond of accuracy to the source material. The X-Men movies always bugged me because not only did they not use anything even similar to the classic suits, they also openly mocked them. I hate the Dark Knight Rises, mostly because of how horrifically inaccurate Bane was (I swear Nolan just thought, "Guy in a mask, breaks Batguy's back, blablabla, this stuff's for kids, BAM! NOW HE'S A TERRORIST!") and the Dark Knight's Joker bothered for me for a similar reason. It just seems that while these properties are growing more and more popular, the comics are gaining less and less respect. I can't find a clear enough picture to tell.

Little disappointed that we won't be getting any unique figs in that, unless the Nova Corps guy is only in that set.

My favorite live-action Bat-films are Batman Begins, Batman Returns, The Dark Knight, Batman, Batman Forever, Batman and Robin, and The Dark Knight Rises in that order. Well, Rises and Robin swap spots sometimes, and I have yet to see the Adam West movie, but still. I hope Lego looks more to the comics and tv shows than the movies, though, as the movies have never managed to get it quite right. If they did some more Batman: The Animated Series stuff, we'd be golden. Although I'd prefer them go for the Justice League Unlimited than Batman: TAS Also, I'm still holding out for a possible people-scale Groot. I don't like the idea of having my Guardians standing in front of a fifty-foot teammate.

Where'd you get the sticker for Scarlet Spider? I've been wanting to make him. That Sky Cycle is wicked awesome, too, btw.

That would be a metric shit-ton of awesome. It seems a little unlikely, though.

Yeah, Nick Fury is included, since he's often included in the action outside of the movies (be it merchandise for the movies, comics, or cartoons). DC has Cyborg, John Stewart (Green Lantern), Steel, Static, Black Lightning, Batwing, Mr. Terrific, Vibe (he's hispanic), Vixen, Firestorm, the new Blue Beetle (hispanic), Aqualad, Crimson Avenger, Thunderbolt, Bronze Tiger, and many many more. Now granted, not a lot of these could be considered household names, but most of them have existed in popular media (JLU, Young Justice, Arrow, etc.) and could easily be included. Kids have been proven to be more likely to play with a doll or action figure that looks like they do, even if it's just in race, so why not make Cyborg, Static, Aqualad, or Blue Beetle? It'll just increase the sales. Even outside of major characters, do they really have to make every single cop and bystander white? At least give US the power to bring these guys to life! As for women, that's going to be much harder to accomplish, given Lego's stance on their target audience, but it's nowhere near impossible. A set with Superman and Supergirl here, maybe a Green Arrow/Black Canary set over there, and a Hawkgirl somewhere in between. We can't expect Lego to make sets focused entirely on these heroines yet, but if every set's going to be Batman meets the Harlem Globetrotters, why not put a woman by his side? At least Zatanna, since she's a close friend of Batman's. (And can we not have them in the damsel-in-distress role like Wonder Woman was in the Power Armor Lex set?) I'm not talking about the Lego sets, just the movie's action figures. I heard about that other thing, but I thought it was mostly rumor. Besides, once again, would they really rather spoil part of the movie than give us Black Widow and Falcon? Like I said before, I HIGHLY doubt they'll do promotional figure packaging with the Lego Movie, since it's a feature film. Even then, I doubt they'd want to make Green Lantern, Justice League regular, an exclusive of any kind if they can help it(excluding the movie version). Yeah, but you really have to consider that at the height of comic book popularity, racial equality wasn't the best. I think John Stewart made a good cultural impact, though, given how many people were pissed off about Ryan Reynolds playing GL in the movie without realizing he was a different Green Lantern! Although, this problem is slowly being fixed, thanks to the cartoons making more diverse casts. Young Justice's Aqualad was popular enough to carry over into the comics (correct me if I'm wrong), and Beware the Batman was slowly building up to the Outsiders before they were cancelled. They're really trying in some regards. I agree, we need more relatively normal vehicles in these sets. Although, I have to say, I'd be all for Toy Man attacking Metropolis in a giant mechanical toy soldier. The $20 sets do often include some of the more desirable figures luckily, like Venom, Nick Fury, War Machine, Nightwing, and Aquaman. The builds for them are often pretty nice, too. I doubt we'll ever see Guy Gardner, but he's fairly easy to make purist. Orange bowl cut, jerky face, green winter jacket, and a few added details and you're good. I have my purist Guy in front of me now, and all he needs is that bowl cut and GL's legs to be as accurate as possible. Green Lantern thoughts: Since we're getting a new Penguin already for the sake of making him more affordable, maybe that GL set we'll have him and Bats against Scarecrow? He was exclusive to the Arkham set, and makes sense fighting Green Lantern, since he creates fear and fear is essentially Green Lantern's weakness.

So I was in the toy department at my local Wal-Mart today and checked out the Captain America 2 action figures. I thought "Here we go! This'll be great! We'll get a female superhero and a black superhero finally!" and was immediately disappointed. This line-up included strictly Captain America in his light blue costume, Captain America in his new costume without a mask on, the Winter Soldier, aaaaaaand... Red Skull! The villain of the FIRST Captain America film that may or may not be involved in this at all! So apparently the toy company would rather spoil major plot points then add some diversity. I know Lego hasn't been too great on the diversity end of things, given we've seen only 2 female superheroes and no black superheroes from DC (as a matter of fact, DC doesn't have any Lego people of color) and Marvel only doing slightly better with one woman and four black male heroes, with Storm coming this summer. (BTW that number only includes figures made available to the general populous, excluding SDCC exclusives) I was hoping to see a movie Falcon and a new Black Widow with the new film, but that's obviously not going to happen yet. Does this bug all of you as much as it does me? And what female and black characters do you think we're likely to see soon/you'd like to see soon?

I don't know about the Zod armor here, as that helmet is the perfect go-to for a Firefly fig. It seems a little odd that LEGO would go out of their way to make new pistol molds and only use them in one theme, especially such generic pistols. It's not like the guns from Man of Steel, which are so specific that they will most likely never be used again. I do hope that we get one or two new weapons pieces out of the Guardians, though. That stuff could use a teensy bit of added variety.

I was just looking at that on Bricklink! I've made a little mock-up/stand-in out of the parts I have on hand and the Harry Potter hair just doesn't look right. I think I'll have to make a purist version and a slightly less purist version. The solid purist will probably be more like this on the left, and the less purist one will have a blue trench coat and possibly a decal on the torso.
-
Luckily enough, Lego minifigures are fully customizable! Just remove one hair piece and replace it with another! (I don't mean to sound insulting, it's been a rough night) I've had to change the hair on a few figs to suit my tastes. I gave Robin the Mutt hair in black, and I've been trying to find a more accurate hair piece for Nightwing so I can use that on Red Robin. The piece with the headphones built in would work great if it weren't for the headphones.

Do you guys think that the new Falcon fig's head would work for a custom Static? Also, any hair for a custom Static you could recommend?
-
It looks vaguely like the hipster coffee guy hair from the Lego Movie. I think it's either that, the ruffled hair you mentioned, or a new mold that somehow looks nothing like the helmet's hair.

My Red Hood has always been an Indiana Jones jacket, black legs and hands, Deadpool's head, and most any kind of pistol, maybe 2.

That trailer felt a little too heavy on the jokes, really. That "What a bunch of a-holes" line kinda left a bad taste in my mouth. I watched it again today, and I'm still quite into it, but I'm less confident that it will be the success I want it to be. Also POSSIBLE SPOILER: Rumor has it that Nova could make an appearance. I'm aware the Nova Corps are featured, but the Nova from Ultimate Spider-Man's origin involves the death of a character that is very well alive in the movie. Maybe we might see a new Nova figure in the future. Also, I'm a little disappointed that we didn't hear Rocket speak. I'm really curious as to how he'll sound. Seeing him in the flesh makes me a little hesitant about Bradley Cooper.

We're going off of the thought process that since LEGO has to push back the Batman/Superman sets, they have to fill that hole with whatever they can, i.e. Green Lantern. Truthfully, I think they'll come up with something new instead of pushing back what's already in the works.

That's what I was thinking, but I'm so glad there's some statistics to back that up! If the Ninja Turtles exclusive just got revealed today, when do you think we might see the proposed DC exclusive, whether it be on store shelves or in pictures?

So are we putting another DC set that has somehow been kept extremely secret back on the table now? Or are we just going to assume that this is preemptive of next year's sets? The former seems most likely in my opinion, as Marvel getting a whole second batch of sets in the middle of the year and then that Green Lantern showing up without any sign of him being in a set. It only makes sense that Lego has been hiding something from us very well for later on in the year. If memory serves, about 2-3 inches tall.

The Hawks and Green Arrow need to be on their way for sure. As far as Doc Fate and Black Canary, they could wait a bit. I'd like to see Zatanna, Blue Beetle (either classic or modern), Booster Gold, Captain Atom, the Atom, and Plastic Man.

The mech thing was more for poking fun at the ridiculous action figure variants they make, but I'd be into a Frank Miller-style armored Batman, as long as they did it right. Something a teensy bit more like the Power Suit from Lego Batman 2 and less like Power Armor Lex Luthor. I honestly don't care what whether it's Noel Bats or Incorporated Batman, just so long as it's a suit from something and not just "Batman's Arctic Suit" or "Batman's Scuba Suit". I've got a soft spot for Guy Gardner. He's quite the jerk, but I still enjoy it when he pops up. Plus he was one of the first Green Lanterns I was introduced to, thanks to Batman: The Brave and the Bold. Plus his costume would be cool to see in Lego format. I've never really gotten to know Kyle, so I usually push him to the side in my Green Lantern pile. But let's face it, we all want Kilowog. Yes and yes. I can't wait to see those two come out, but Black Canary should probably wait until after a public Green Arrow. He seems like he deserves to see the light first. I think there is one trait Lego should take from action figures, though. Y'know how lots of times a line of action figures will have a piece of another figure, so once you buy the whole wave of figures, you get another exclusive one? I think Lego should try that, but in a subtle way. Lego should try that as a way to boost incentive for the AFOLs, so we can get more lesser-known characters (I never realized how much I want Deadman and Spectre minifigs until I thought about this) and Lego can sell more sets. Plus, once again, it can spark the kids' interest in the character. It's a win for us, a win for Lego, and a possible win for DC comics.

I wish LEGO did kinda themes within themes in each wave. I want a whole wave of DC sets based on Blackest Night (or do I mean Brightest Day? Whichever one is the one where everybody gets rings), another for Flashpoint, a Teen Titans/Young Justice centric wave with a set for each hero and their sidekick, there's just so many ideas that could spread across the whole DC side. I really wish that Lego would pull from some of them. I say, design these figures less like you're trying to make cheesy action figures, and more like character skins for Injustice or the Arkham games. When it comes down to it, do you really think the kids are going to care TOO much if "Sonic Mecha Suit Batman" is replaced by the Batman: Noel suit? Maybe they could help feed fans back into the top into the top of the machine; give them suits from famous story arcs to maybe get them interested in checking out the comics? Lego was really my first introduction to Batman, and now I've got a bookshelf full of comics and animated movies about the whole DCU. My definitive Justice League would require Aquaman and Hal Jordan to be replaced with Hawkgirl and John Stewart, since I'm most familiar with the Unlimited incarnation of the team, but Hal and J'onn are going to round off my team, too. I always liked Hal more than John Stewart anyway. He's more creative with the ring. Now that the New 52 Justice League is nearly complete, just missing GL and Cyborg, it'll be kinda weird not to get him. If you were reuniting the Beatles, you'd still want Ringo there, right? He'll wind up alongside the Titans when we get them, though. That does seem to be his place. Wait, so now that we have Green Lantern presumably in the line, who do we have left to complain about not being here? I'm going to suggest Blue Beetle and Booster Gold.

Yep, the lack of detail is severely disappointing. It's surprising what a few yellow lines can do. Maybe we can use the torso for other X-Men? Did you say... BOOTS? I wasn't a big fan of the Green Lantern costume in the movie (I get that it was supposed to be, like, semi-biotic, but it was way over complicated, especially in minifig form) so a comic-style Green Lantern will most definitely make me pee my pants. Once I have him and Martian Manhunter, I'll have a satisfactory Justice League! Albeit, I was expecting Cyborg and not MM, but I'm not disappointed in the slightest. (What if in the next wave we have an obligatory Batman and Green Lantern team-up against Sinestro AND a set with Cyborg and a returning Justice Leaguer (I was thinking Flash, but since he's already on the market it wouldn't make much sense business-wise)(Did I just use parentheses inside parentheses? Whatever) to fight at STAR Labs!? Maybe finally go off against my ever-so-sought-after Gorilla Grodd figure?)
