DC Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussions

I'm super bummed, because I was waiting until I could afford the Gorilla Grodd set to buy it, since I bought the Javelin first, and now my local Wal-Mart has replaced it with the new Avengers sets. Major bummer. Those would be perfect! I could honestly go for one more full wave of Batman-centric sets (maybe with characters like Red Hood or Black Canary thrown in, that would make sense in Gotham) to round off our collection of Bat-villains. One nice wave with Clayface, Mad Hatter, the Ventriloquist, Killer Moth, and another Scarecrow and Catwoman. Maybe even some kind of movie theater set with Clayface and Joker, like the ending of <spoiler>Arkham City</spoiler>, and then a nice little $20 tea party with Mad Hatter and some bunny-goons, Batman and Catwoman stopping one of the Ventriloquist's heists, and then some kind of lab or even another biplane for Scarecrow with Batman and Batwing hopefully, but realistically Blue Beetle or Raven. -
Nice Cheshire! Is that hair from the CMF Goth Girl? That's like the only one of those figures I can't find, and I'd love that head for Raven.

My local Wal-Mart (in West Virginia) has some of the new Avengers sets. Namely the Hulkbuster, the Hydra Showdown, Avengers Tower, and the tiny Iron Man army builder thing. Sadly, no Quinjet, which is one of my definite buys. I'll be getting the Hulkbuster as soon as I can (which will be soon, since they replaced the Gorilla Grodd set with Avengers stuff ) -

Red Robin wouldn't need a new helmet. The New 52 version (that they'd most likely be making) just has hair, and even if they went with the Pre-52 version, they could just print it on a black head. I could see Terry happening as just a Batman variant in an average set. I figure that Stephanie Brown's Batgirl would take precedence over Batwoman, since Batwoman's almost never made it into a medium outside of comics. -
I'll definitely be looking out for parts for Fire from now on, that's for sure. Thanks a bunch!

When I think 'evil gorilla enemy of the Teen Titans' I tend to think of Monsieur Mallah, not Grodd. I'm not sure I like the idea of Grodd killing BB's parents. I think it works to humanize the character a lot more when it is just an accident or incident that kills them, not a person. He's more relatable that way, I think. Speaking of gorilla villains, do you guys think that with this new mold for Grodd that specifically excludes his helmet and cape, that they intend to make more abominable apes? There's still at least Ultra Humanite and Monsieur Mallah. Maybe Congorilla if they want to get obscure. -
Thanks for all the suggestions, you guys! I've run into some problems with some, though. -Mister Terrific would need a red cowl of some sort. -Mera and Fire are tough to find torsos for, since the number of female torsos are so limited, especially green ones. (I'd really like to make Fire, though) -I could probably get by with Molecule using a Robin head, but the torso is really tricky. -I'm working on a Cheshire minifig, but I'm waiting on some parts -Miss M's head is nearly impossible. It really ought to be the same color as Martian Manhunter's, but the only female head of that color is the CMF Witch. I did try out Risk, though, and I think he looks alright! I borrowed the legs from Hal for a bit, but I'll probably just replace them with black ones or green ones in a little bit. Seriously, thanks for the help!

I could use some more green DC heroes in my collection, so does anyone have any suggestions for green characters? I'm avoiding Green Lanterns, since those would mostly require me to have a second Green Lantern minifig, and I've only got the one Hal.

I still have to wonder if there's something important about the little bubbly pattern on Ultron's head. It seems odd that Lego would add printing when they could so easily get away without it. Also, is it me, or is that some battle damage on Ultron's back in that picture? It almost looks like the shield wound cap gave him in the trailer, but on the wrong side. Maybe it's just shotty welding? I can't imagine that putting your own back on would be easy. -

Marvel's made a big deal about "promoting" X-Men and Fantastic Four, since they don't own the movie rights to them. They cancelled all of the FF titles and most of the X-Men books, and also put the kibosh on any X-Men or Fantastic Four toys. We had a big discussion about that on the Marvel 2015 thread a while back, so this is all I'm going to say. Well, that and that Marvel are a bunch of poopy babies who only see the comics as promotional material, fans be damned. I'd say we won't be seeing them again for an awfully long time. It's a wonder we got them now. We still have some frogs and crocodiles in green I'm hoping they do something down the line for Beast Boy's animal transformations. Even if they don't wanna go as far as a gorilla or a t-rex, I would settle for a bird and maybe a dog or a monkey or something. I'd say that with Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad both coming out next year, and then two more DC films every year after that for the foreseeable future, there won't be a lot of room for more Titans. I'd say we'll see a lot of repeats outside of movie sets, since they'll need to put characters like Lex Luthor, Mr. Freeze, Bane, Two-Face, and Catwoman as well as builds like the Batcave or the Batmobile every so often after that. This was a very good year for the theme, but I wouldn't expect too many more like it. -

I think Harley's got more to do with the "is girl so must show all the skin and cleavage" rule of modern comics (although it seems like the kind of outfit the Joker would make Harley wear based on his psychology, but that's something for another day). I honestly think that, pardon the pun, that Captain Cold's new outfit is cooler. The sleeveless jacket is really sleek and makes sense for a character whose arms tend to be covered in ice (which granted, wasn't the best decision), and is something that I would actually wear. The New 52 Flash is one of the only books I'm reading at the moment, and it seems that lately none of the Rogues have gotten much limelight, save for Gorilla Grodd. I don't think they were aiming for gritty so much as modern, with a more vibrant and detailed style. Look at Superman; they took his classic circus strongman trunks, which have long been considered outdated, and replaced them with a nice red belt, which balances the colors out. They took what wasn't quite working anymore and updated it. The Flash's yellow seams that are often mocked really break up the red in some situations, and make the bursts of lightning when he runs feel more natural. -

Ultron SENTRY Prime and Ultron SENTRY. Those are the soldiers. The big scary robot dude that looks an awful lot like the comicbook Ultron on that Entertainment Weekly cover? That's just a random soldier, just a later design of them. -

They made a brand new mold for Wolverine's cowl that they definitely couldn't reuse, especially now that the X-Men are off the table. I don't see how making a mold for two-colored heads would be such a bad idea, especially since they could get some use out of them in themes like Ultra Agents or Ninjago. I love the New 52's character designs for the most part. There're obviously a few weak points (Raven, the first Starfire, Harley Quinn, Lobo) but overall I think it modernizes their iconic costumes and makes them a bit more interesting and colorful and unique. I think costume-wise, the DC movies could learn a thing or two from the New 52. -
Loving Green Hornet and Kato!

Eww, you're right. I didn't notice that before. You'd think with all of this dual-color molding they've been doing lately that they could pull that off for one head. I think that fact alone has made me change my stance to "Please god get this guy a helmet", because at least those can be printed on all sides. -

We could've gotten a new helmet with two eyeholes that they could've used again, with Slade's eyepatch blacking out the one. That would've been nice. And with as much as DC loves Deathstroke and plastering him on everything, I'd say this isn't the last time we see him in a set. -
Thanks!

I was expecting the Hulkbuster to be a bigfig, so I really wouldn't mind shrinking him down a bit. I'm also a little disappointed that they didn't include the neat little arc reactor kneecaps, which some of the smaller models have included. I guess what I'm saying is that I'll consider modding it when I see the set in person. -
Ooo, are we having an X-Men party?! :D I've got Toad, and I brought an Avenger (hope that's okay), Reptil!

So I tried to scratch up a Red Arrow, but it's not that great. I won't upload any pictures until I can do something to improve him, but I'll give you guys a parts list in case anybody gets any ideas from it. Hat Head Torso The left arm and hand are pearl gold, while the other arm is flesh with a dark red hand. I mostly did that because I didn't have another flesh arm available, but luckily Roy's got a history of losing limbs. The legs are solid red. I'd really like to find a better torso and head, mostly. EDIT: I'm aiming for more of a New 52 design, since it's a lot brighter and has more variety parts-wise when standing next to all the other superhero figs. (That Arrow version of Roy is still the bomb.)

Their telescoping arrows. You know that scene in the first movie where Hawkeye runs out of arrows and has to beat off that Chitauri dude with his bow until he can grab one more out of the dead one's chest? Now that's a bit less likely to happen. EDIT: oops, sorry if anyone saw any of that. Forgot my basic HTML rules lol I'm actually really glad that a lot of the characters in the Helicarrier set aren't fully exclusive. That set's crazy expensive and I can't justify buying it, but I really want to be able to make a Cap without his mask, especially one with an official Lego design. If only the torso on Hill and Fury are exclusive, that'll make it a bit easier to buy those parts separately, as opposed to buying the whole minifigs for ludicrous prices. It's really just very considerate of those of us that can't afford those massive D2C sets. -
Love the head! No top hat, though?

So I guess that oughta be Black Widow on the bike in the Quinjet set instead of Cap, huh? Comicbook.com speculates that maybe the shiny yellow bit on Vision's forehead might be an Infinity Stone, particularly the Soul Gem. That would explain why we've seen so little of Vision, and maybe why he's on the Avengers' side instead of Ultron's? I'd say that would mean that we'd see more of Vision, since he would be far more important to Thanos getting all the gems. It might mean he bites the dust, too. -
I think it's pretty safe to say that not every design on here is completely original, especially with as much as we all talk about how much we want to make each other's figures. So, what other places do you guys find ideas? What do you search? Who do you follow? I've gotten some ideas and designs from Flickr, but it's so hard to find new stuff in between the posts of the six or seven different people I follow.

Unlikely, and unlikelier. I figure we'd at least have whispers of a D2C by now if we were getting one. Wayne Manor got shot down on Ideas, and doesn't seem like the most superheroic build for a D2C. I'd say we'd get the Daily Planet, another Batcave, or either the Hall of Justice or Watchtower before we get Wayne Manor. In fact, I could see a Daily Planet set working really well right about now. Superman, Bizarro, Clark Kent, Jimmy Olsen, Lois Lane, Metallo, Krypto, and Power Girl maybe? Or even use it as an opportunity to re-release Lex Luthor with some light power armor like the LB2 polybag? I think it'd work well.
