Marvel Superheroes 2017 - Set Discussion
Numbuh1Nerd replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
Aw man, that's a shame. The Heartbreaker minifig is probably my favorite Iron Man. That, and the original suit with the triangular arc reactor, though I've yet to get that one. I'm still crossing my fingers that they finally scrap the SDCC exclusive figure in exchange for the exclusive smaller sets that they've been doing for other conventions (Ultron's throne, the '66 Batmobile, that recent Star Wars Celebration one, etc.). Probably just wishful thinking, but it never hurts to do a little touch of that now and then. I find myself oddly looking forward to the SDCC figures, though, just to see more interesting figures get made. It's like a more painful version of seeing TT put out a picture of new in-game characters.- 5,808 replies

I've got a small batch of new figs, all from a source I never expected to find as interesting as I do! Dial H for Hero Hero Cruz

Thanks a bunch! I'll be keeping an eye out for that Clay set, but worst comes to worse, it's about time I place a new Bricklink order! WOW!! That is incredible!!! Like, I audibly gasped when I saw that! Stunning work, dude!!!

Does anybody know of a cheap source for solid blue hands, off the shelf? I couldn't find any small sets with blue-handed minifigs, but I need a pair for my Animal Man (I had to borrow some from Trickster for the photo). Is the CMF Vet's hands normal blue?

Oh, woops, I didn't quite marry figs to sets in my head yet That's pretty disappointing, though. I feel like the styles they use for Asgardians are pretty meh and easy to recreate with existing prints.- 5,808 replies

I hope those two henchmen are more along the lines of all those background characters on Sakaar rather than black, faceless soldiers. The extras in this movie look astonishingly cool, even cooler than some of the main characters, and it would be such a shame to miss out on them in minifigure form.- 5,808 replies

Just a few corrections: I used that hair in light yellow for Mockingbird, though what you've suggested is much more accurate to the show. Quake's hair is actually dark brown, and Fitz's is Medium Dark Flesh. Otherwise, yeah, you nailed it!

Thanks! Quicksilver's got it right: Super Adaptoid torso, old Power Miners legs. Though, the legs were just the first armored grey pair I found in my leg box and I liked the way they implied boots, so I'm sure there's a better pair out there somewhere! If you find them, let me know! Thanks a bunch! I'm thinking "Sparsenarrow", just to cover all the bases That's not a bad pick! And that girl is just a few swapped parts away from being a pretty choice Mia Dearden!

Just managed to figure out three figures I've been trying to make for literal years in my tired stupor! Animal Man Steel Red Arrow (Side Note: I never know what to label my Roy Harper figures?? Speedy? Arsenal? Red Arrow? It's not even like they're tied to different costumes, it's like he just has a drawer full of cool aliases next to his socks???)

No no no no no, Logan Marshall-Green is playing Montana, a member of the Enforcers. He was only ever the Shocker in the Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon which is absolutely amazing btw so no, we don't have two Shockers.- 5,808 replies

I forgot what thread I was on for a second and got WAY too excited This looks fantastic!

That's the thing that's got me concerned, the potential stylizing. I doubt they'll go far enough to make it a direct tie-in, since they don't even really do that with the Marvel cartoons, which do a fair bit better than JLA's been doing in terms of merch and ratings. I'm pretty certain we won't be getting any sort of Legends set any time soon if ever, but they've made the title of Firestorm a much more well-known one, which I would imagine could've contributed to his high-profile in JLA if nothing else. Just to clarify, though: this is nothing more than speculation, and is probably a little off-topic, being about something we might likely see in 2018.

Oh, sorry! The yellow boots seem like such an obvious idea that I figured everyone just kinda filled them in in their head without realizing it like I did
-
Actually, if you wanna be super accurate, Weather Wizard's traditional designs don't have any yellow apart from the wand and the pattern on the torso. His gloves are either green or gone, and the boots are usually melded into the costume and, again, solid green (save for a few designs in which they have yellow soles, but that's the kind of detail that just isn't possible in the current state of Lego). I was actually ready to hijack the yellow boots from my Doc Ock figure before I did a quick check and realized he doesn't have them.
-
It really is about time for Firestorm to happen. Not only is he a major player in JLA, but Legends of Tomorrow has made him a bigger deal than ever. I'm pretty sure he's one of only three characters in the first wave of JLA action figures that hasn't gotten a minifig yet (the other two being Mongul and Lobo). If he doesn't show up next year I'd be genuinely shocked.

I can't understand why they would go with a basically civilian design when we know for sure that he's going to get a legitimate costume unless they plan on making a third set with the real Shocker minifig. Even if those old set pics are fake, there's promotional art that's been released of a fully kitted-out Shocker. I still think we're seeing a secret third set with DIY Spidey, Shocker, and Vulture, and whatever character is just too cool spoil. I think it is kinda nice that they gave him a piece for his gauntlets, even though Crossbones didn't have them. They are the same gauntlets after all, just modified.- 5,808 replies

And with the new JLA cartoon's merch just now hitting shelves, we might start to see some loosely-tied-in new faces! As hyped as I am for the Justice League sets, I'm absolutely dying for a brand new DC superhero. The only ones we're getting this year across the board are John Stewart and Bumblebee (assuming you don't count Alfred's nameless costume from the Lego Batman Movie, which I don't). Oh, and Krypto I guess?

Y'know, if they're willing to give that much love to the Lanterns, I'd be interested if not hopeful to see another GL set with some Red or even other Yellow Lanterns in it. They could make some real cash off of some Lantern Corps battle packs, tbh.

Marvel Superheroes 2017 - Set Discussion

It's not the white lines I mind, it's how painfully boring her whole outfit is. Nothing about her design is indicative of Valkyrie, it's just a bunch of black leather. The only reason she stands out in any shot I've seen her in is because the extras all have waaay more fascinating and attractive outfits. She's negative space at best.- 5,808 replies

Well, they still just made a new mold for folks with flaming heads. I'd say that them putting that mold to work is pretty likely, and given Robbie's only gotten more popular, is directly tied to a vehicle (and we all know how much Lego loves their cars) and we just got Super-Adaptoid and Detroit Steel for god's sake, I'd say we could see Robbie in the next few years. Not to reignite an old, potentially out-of-place discussion. I'm really hoping our Valkyrie figure matches up with the presumably pre-Sakaar Valkyrie we saw for a quick second in the trailer. I reeeeally hate the design she has in most of the movie, but that one at least had a blue cape to add some visual interest, so that would be nice. Even just including the cape like the new Wonder Woman set does (and maybe a pegasus, pretty please?) would be acceptable.- 5,808 replies

I will absolutely definitely be buying that book!! Not only is the John Stewart figure a must-have, but a whole pack of just parts for Green Lantern constructs?? That's brilliant!!!! Ahhhh!!!!!! I really dig those DC Superhero Girls figures, too, although judging by the fact that they don't even use the brick-built Kryptomites, they're probably not official designs. That Beast Boy seems pretty likely, though, given they use the same hair mold the Elves boys do. I couldn't find Hal or Waller, though.

Hopping aboard this little Marvel train with a second shot at Marvel's Agents of SHIELD!

I've got a Steel right here, but here's a nice Steel and Commander Steel! RogueTitan used gun-metal silver arms and that robot Ninjago guy's head for his "steeled up" look, if you want that! I might take a crack at some of these others over the next week or so, when I'm less busy!
