Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Dharkan replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
No no no, not more than one modular a year please. And also as TheLegoDr said, It would not help Lego but hurt them probably. I'm up for more modulars like Pet Shop but then again people will probably complain that the set will be too similar to Pet Shop just because we had a residential building before in Pet Shop. I think we can use a Library of some sort or bookstore, maybe a new cafe. Or a 32x32 residential building with a nice terrace and some balconies. -
The biggest difference is that they use too many big parts in my opinion. Imagine a construction toy which is full of the dreaded plane parts Lego had that noone likes. Megablocks leaves no window for creativity and free building with bricks which is the whole point of construction toys.

Review: 10228 Haunted House
Dharkan replied to mostlytechnic's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
"might be" retiring, it is nothing certain. I think the set is too expensive. I'd prefer modulars over this one because I don't really like dark color theme on buildings. Another flop is the windows, they don't look too well for my liking and they have stickers. Part selection is okay but not good enough to justify the price. I mean, if I want sand green bricks, I can just buy them seperately. Anyway, good set for display but sad to see Lego tries to get extra money out of a "non-licensed" set just because it resemble something licensed, something people would love to buy. -
Are you still recruiting? if so I am interested in joining. :)

Well humans get dirty every once in a while too, should we not bath then? :D

I don't know. In my opinion all the windows on that set looks terrible. Only good detail about windows is red curtains.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Announcing a set does not necessarily mean that it'd be released this year. -
Even as a student (soon to be graduated) can't find time for my MOCs. So with enough space to display I really don't mind people only building sets for the purpose of displaying. And also about boxes, I think so far I'm keeping all the boxes after my dark age but I don't mind throwing some off and keeping only special ones. But this isn't for the sake of re-selling, it is just as a token of nostalgia.

I know many AFOLs love bricklinking GG but I have mixed feelings about it. First of all, yes it is a great build but at the same time it is not that great anymore. Seriously, besides the first floor, the market part, rest of the building is quite horrible compared to the latest builds with relatively new parts. So what I would suggest is MODing Green Grocer as you bricklink it. At least it'd look better and my personal opinion about sand green bricks is that I'd rather swap them with sand blue than paying for a lot of money. I hope I didn't sound mean or anything but it's just my thoughts about it. I know some sets that you were not able to buy when they were available is like a relic, an artifact from past, but as long as you didn't buy it with the box I don't think you'll feel the same joy anyway. At least I would not have. :)

After a great model like Family House, I'm disappointed with "wannabe" modular set. Actually more like "wannabe Medieval Market Village" :D

Brickshow is fine. Biggest reason I like them is, as Jason said above, I can see that he likes toys as much as we (or at least I) do, that's important for me. And they are not ranting over Lego in any means. I mean seriously, everyone in some part of their life of Lego should have met some other Lego fan who keep bragging about how good his collection etc etc, they are not like that. And I like their videos really. They don't just have review videos, they have comparison videos which is really important before buying some certain sets and some old set reviews which is always nice to see for people who do not have them. Oh well, bottom line is I like their attitude really. Some might find them not thorough enough with reviews but I'm fine with the way they work.

To be honest, I think Lego can easily make Warcraft sets. If they find Warcraft controversial, then what about Star Wars and Lord of the Rings? Warcraft as a universe is so huge that it'd really supply whatever kind of set they want to make. But I think Lego will not bother trying to get it from MB.

I hear that a lot and to be honest, this kinda hurts me. Because people cannot realise that saying this just as disrespectful as saying; "you still reading books?" or "you still make puzzles?" etc etc.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

That is a good point but I don't think I can keep it boxed to sell it later on. :D And I don't think it'll never worth much like Green Grocer did. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Dharkan replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I'm planning to buy my first modular next month but really can't decide on which one. My parts collection is growing slowly but surely so maybe not now but eventually modulars "may" join them when they are needed, ready to be rebuilt when I'm done with them. Anyway, my options are Fire Brigade, Pet Shop and Parisian Restaurant. Fire Brigade is more like a kit of useful parts for me and kind of cheaper but I love the way Pet Shop and Parisian Restaurant looks. Which one do you think would be the best for me? And many people are complaining about the sizes of Pet Shop and Parisian Restaurant, are they really small or not a big deal? And my last question, how does Parisian Restaurant has so many parts? too much detailing? I hope you can help me out guys, I liked listening to fellow lego fans' opinions before I make my purchase. Oh my goodness. Really really well done, my hat is off to you.

I think chances are high about getting Shield and Arrow sets in 2015 for Marvel and DC. Both have really big hype at the moment and growing stronger.

LEGO® CUUSOO 空想 - Turn your model wishes into reality
Dharkan replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Well either you're misinterpreting my sentences or your english isn't too good. But anyway, that was "clearly" not what I meant. The projects that didn't make the cut were better than this one, some of them at least. I'm a sci-fi and a mecha fan but I find Exo Suit as a gray colored mess of Lego bricks. -

I'm pretty sure Exo Suit will have really poor sales. There could have been tons of other projects to be accepted instead of that one. -
