Did not want to leave this open... So after considering the cost, the cost, and the cost of moving this idea to completion I have to say its going on the back burner for now. I am thankful for the fast support with my initial questions, it lets me know that when I get ready to attempt this again this community will be here to help!

Great work!!! I love the fact that a ship with so little exposure in the OT garners so many fans. I wonder if its pure asthetics or the role it played but whatever the reason it is in my top 5...

'the original Star Wars & Lego connection'
neoconagenda replied to Jedi-Bendu's topic in LEGO Star Wars
This is simply superb work. When we are frustrated with an element thats not perfect we need to look at the Lego limitations that others had overcome... -

I agree with the comments about lots vs single sets... You need to put a value on your time and effort because breaking it into sets will take time and effort. If I ever sell mine its all going at once. Your needs (whatever they are) vs keeping Lego = Your needs win every single time...

I too would be interested in knowing if it is a legal connection...

Does watching a Star Wars film inspire you to buy Lego?
neoconagenda replied to RednWhite's topic in LEGO Star Wars
How could it not!!! As a fan that grew up with OT that is what I will buy. Dont know if I am with the numbers on this but its how I feel towards SW sets... Given they dont slap UCS on it - triggering my need to complete collections - I stay away from modern SW variants. All that aside I still completely admire most all of the released sets and MOC's but just not inspired enough to purchase... Maybe Disney can inspire me... -

[MOC] Nebulon B Frigate in scale with 75055 Star Destroyer

good work! -
UCS Lego is a shill bidding mine field... I have never seen as many less than 5 feedback bidders as I do on UCS auctions. As soon as I see these on the bid history I walk away. I never use max bid as they will retract or send a second chance offer to get ripped off... Just watch yourself and refuse to support this behavior.

I built this about 3 months ago having only one or two issues with cable routing (which is an art in itself)... I found the instructions to be on par with TLG's and if there were steps that were not so clear it was not an issue as the build was very intuative - the parts "just go" in the right place. I do recall one 8L rod feeling like it should have been a 10 but it didnt matter because everything worked well in the end. Thank you for helping me to acheive this great MOD!!!

this was always one of my favorite sets, nice changes.

These retired set prices are insane... I got into UCS late in the game (2010) and I am paying for it on a level that is silly, or stupid depending on the mood of my wife. I know that this may sound like total crap but I have decided that when I sell off my SW UCS collection I will let it go for my cost... Trying to make money on Lego is akin to taking advantage of people and putting a dream out of reach. ---RANT OVER--- That statement sounds crazy coming from someone called neoconagenda but if you know me you know that "neoconagenda" is sarcasm...

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
neoconagenda replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Can I be your friend??? I have seen some sets on auction sites that are 99% complete - using substitute parts like black mast instead of gray and of course the levers are black. I have come close to buying these as a way to avoid the headache of brick linking such a large set. If you have the extra money, it might be a good option for you. The way I see it is that if you were to start with one of these 99% sets and piece out the correct parts you would probably still end up at or around the cost of a used set that is complete. It all depends on how much effort you want to put into it and what level of accuracy you want. The 10179 has been a thorn in my side ever since I passed on the $500 retail... Live and learn I guess!!! -
I like it better but that is based on the fact that it was my first one to own. I am sure you will get many other opinions on this topic.

Just getting started on Technic battle droids. Put them off for a long time and just woke up and decided that - a) I like SW b) I like Technic c) How bad can they be??? Hope I am not disappointed!

I have it and feel that it was worth the money since I got it used at a good price - $378 including all fig's... It is a great set for scene creation, as good if not better than the Death Star. Is it worth the money? Well that all depends on where you find value in a set. IMO Lego is for playing with - Although value cannot be ignored, it is never the motivating factor for me. I have often wondered if there are people out there betting their future on Lego sets... "Honey - We cannot go on holiday; They found a warehouse full of 10179's and we are busted!" But getting a set and possibly not taking a loss on it isn't a bad thing!
