  1. I know I am going to have to break the rules to do this at some point but anything above 99% stock Lego will make me happy. And with a few thousand pieces I figure I can keep it above 99%...
  2. This answers a ton of questions that I had dealing with the boom and roller ring design! It also shows me that a boom can be large scale and functional.
  3. I hate to use stock photos but the image is pretty close to what I am talking about. I failed to snap pictures prior to leaving the yard...
  4. My ship just spent a week or so in the shipyard doing thruster repairs and I could not stop thinking about building a Technic yard crane of my own. I have seen versions of these in the past but not too many at mini fig scale. Everything about these cranes marry perfectly with the technic world, all I need to do is pick a crane and get to work. I did want to ask if any of you have experience beam building a large scale boom and what issues / limitations I may encounter. This is still in the infant stage and may be the motivation that I need to finally get into using LDraw...
  5. Technic flagships and SW UCS... But that new Tumbler has me looking really hard.
  6. I have too many sets on one shelf so I have to move them to the floor. Because of the way it "balances" on the stand it always seems to bump the floor and pop off.
  7. I always like seeing T-47 moc's. I dont know if its the angles and slopes or just the love for the ship itself but people are always coming up with cool variations on it.
  8. I always love to see classic block builds!!!
  9. Looks great!
  10. I am amazed that some print shop owner has not made a molded stamp for this dish. But you did a wonderful job on that dish!
  11. For a static set the fix for the weapons is more needed as it tends to fall off of mine when I move them to dust. The MF windscreen is a great idea!!!
  12. I have seen really good clone pieces from China - sans "Lego" of course - most recently on a 100 count gray lever listing. We all know what those are for... I have also seen a knock off trans/gray windscreen for the snowspeeder. They can never get the manufacturing down perfectly enough to put out a complete set that feels and "snaps" like Lego, but they can sure cause a rukus with just a few hard to find parts...
  13. I like it and dont care if it is a glider with an engine because it is 1st Lego and 2nd steampunk and 3rd Lego
  14. If you can build the custom power pak that is the way to go.
  15. Aweosme
  16. Simple and understated perfection is to me what the B-Wing is, and I think you did a great job capturing it.
  17. My only consideration for after market Lego is that I will possibly have a chance to break even one day. But in order to do this I have to get really great deals on retired used sets to offest the loss on new ones. If I can keep my total investment at or around the total re-sale I am happy. But I only collect UCS and the planet series so I am highly limited on set diversity with SW sets. I would never buy sets just to put up. It makes no sense to me because there is such a limited financial gain in it.
  18. I feel that my PF and technic skills are almost to the point that I could do this based off of the video but I would love to see some detailed stills for guidance...
  19. I will buy it because its basically a good set with a ton of MOD potential. I will pay full price for it because I am impatient and cannot wait for a sale...
  20. I like to think that TLG does this on purpose to give people the opprotunity to use our imagination to engineer results. What we are seeing here with the 42009 MOD(s) is engineering at its best by the best people!!! Look at the new Volvo loader, its not even out yet and we have people planning to add planetary drive and independant axles... When I build the ultimate 42009 I am going to use the 8878 battery for the one placed in the undercarriage. Looking at it I believe that I can source, design, and post instructions on how to use an extension for the charging port to be placed through a technic hole on the side. This will all be plug and play solution that will not require mods to the battery itself. But will require some novice soldering skills for the extension. Sorry about the mix up on Blakbird... I get confused when name dropping
  21. Welcome! After looking at your webpage I do not think that you should ever settle for "good enough" when it comes to MODS. Based on what I have seen on your site you have some major raw talent (much more than I) and on top of that you seem to have true excitment over your creations. I could be the type to settle for good enough, but I think you need to push yourself for perfection over functionality. Do not be affraid to seek out Jurgen, AFOL1969, Blakbird, Anio, or any of the talented people that share their creations. We all have a love for Technic and enjoy sharing our thoughts on challenging builds.
  22. I picked up collecting UCS in 2011 but did not seriously commit until about a year ago. I have almost all of them now with just over $2600 total invested. Brickpicker has my collection valued at just under $3100. If you are patient and want to stalk ebay for 24 hour listings or good BIN listings while dodging guys who try to bid up their auctions you should pick them up at a fair price. My AT-ST was bought for $99 NISB because the picture on the listing was wrong, I took a chance and won it on a single bid... It is easy to get frustrated when looking for these retired sets butnot impossible, unless your looking for the 10179
  23. As one of those AFOL's that has more money than sense I am beginning to tire of kicking myself over price points. First $500, then $700 and so on until now we are plus $2000... Beginning to tire but will never give in. I am currently 5 sets away from having the complete UCS but I will always be short 2 because the MF and Snow Speeder are priced out. ISD is high but it is massive and loaded with old gray so it is going to happen soon. My point is that I hope for a re-release at $600 or below -or- a comparable set as I believe that anything remotely close to the original will drive the prices back down to what I would be willing to pay... As far as an interior goes it is not a huge deal for me because it leaves something for the AFOL to do after the build. I always enjoy using Jurgen's MODS on my Technic sets...
