  1. Another question... Since it's a raffle, is more than one entry allowed? I'm in a building mood and wouldn't mind doing something else.
  2. Awaiting several BL orders for building my exhibit display, and yet another unsorted lot from feeBay. I'm holding back slightly as my finger's on the button for a box of series 2 minifigs.
  3. Introducing the "Lemonana" flying throne: inspired by a cross between a lemon and a banana. I wanted to be more adventurous and do either apple slices or a kiwi, but didn't have enough of the right kind or colour of bricks.
  4. I've started buying the parts for the exhibit display. The price of clear 1x1 tiles on BrickLink is enough to make your eyes water, but I suppose it's less ridiculous than on feeBay.
  5. Gotta love the attention to detail, especially that loading hatch. Excellent work.
  6. Here's the LXF file for reference. One small difference that I couldn't replicate in LDD: I used two long pins to reinforce the front slopes, as follows...
  7. I think it's about time I showed something off. This is basically a vehicle I designed for use with a modular armoury (inspired by greylego's armoury for BrickArms): And a design for an exhibit display:
  8. The addition of many more new pieces (LDD seems to be missing the 30.4 VR wheel, among others); Show the names of colours in the palette; The ability to unhide pieces using the Hide tool; More realistic rendering of bricks when requested; The ability to organise the different parts manually; The ability to search for different parts by name (although many Lego names aren't consistent with BrickLink names, which I'm used to); Placing items onto non-studded bricks (e.g. wheels onto tiles); Calculating the stability of a model (useful when using pieces that are affected by gravity, like ball joint plates and tiles); Someone please explain how to use the Hinge Align tool; Buttons for automatic camera positions (orthagonal, side view, top down etc.); Pick tool for repeatedly adding a brick already in the model (the Clone tool does this, but you have to pick the brick again after copying and adding it); Take screenshots of the model with the background (or turn the background off); Improved grouping of model pieces.
  9. Absolutely sweet. I wish I could build like that.
  10. I'm assuming it has to be a built model, and not just designed in LDD? Either way I might just enter, for the heck of it.
  11. Excellent job! I would have used the studs for sitting figures on it, but it works both ways.
  12. Not just that, but it's also a challenge (initially, anyway) to figure out what each colour is. There's no tooltip or indication for any of them!
  13. As some others have said, there are a few more unique figures I'd want to collect this time around, but not in large quantities. The mime, singer, skiier, strongman, mariachi, lifeguard, karate guy and possibly the DJ are on my hitlist.
  14. This one's a lot harder to call than the LDD only class. I'm going to be consistent, avoiding the Top Chef/Project Runway mentality, and vote for the entries that I can see as being genuine Lego sets - but I'm also voting for the models that most resemble their LDD screenshots, because I saw that as being the main point of this class. [214] Phoenix Corp. Fireball by vynsane This vehicle is just plain cool: a blend of retro and futuristic, and helped in its trendiness a lot by the choice of minifigures. If I could I would have one built for myself. [222] Micro Modular Houses by lisqr Realising I wasn't the only person to go small scale with my entry, it seems that micro models are the future, or at least what's hot right now. This one was very well executed; it's just a shame there are no dedicated micro minifig parts from Lego to go with it. [223] Train Station by mrblue I don't recall ever seeing a train station set, but if this was on sale it would get me hooked on building Lego train sets. It's so well designed, I can't do it justice with words. If I could I'd also give a point to these other people: Praiter Yed, gotoAndLego, Zackhariah, prateek, John Carstairs, Johnnhiszippy3, Master56, captaintuddle, shimon and nintha.
  15. As one of the entrants, I have to say that using LDD isn't easy, especially as a newbie - so I have to give it up to everybody who entered, you guys have done a really good job. My points go to the entrants whose creations I can see as being genuine Lego sets for sale: [131] Apartment Building by Jan What more can be said? [145] Hungarian Parliament Building by Sarkanyapu Fantastic use of smaller bricks to create a detailed, small-scale version of a building. I'm not familiar with the building, but the model itself would make a great display piece. [130] Paradisa Hotel by Klaus-Dieter I previously owned a Paradisa mansion (solely for the female minifigs!), and the style of the building fits the theme very well. I like that the hotel and the beach area are separated. Honourable mentions on my part go to Johnnhiszippy3, efullner, legoluisma, Bojan Pavsic and Set Sprinter, who should all get a point anyway.
  16. Was on the way home from work, and somehow ended up in Edmonton (a lot further north than I'd like). While I was there I stopped in the giant Tesco to get something to eat, and saw they had... collectible minifigs! With the help of an Android app, I picked out two zombies and two nurses. I felt so much better that I got what I wanted this time: I almost ended up with another scuba diver. I also bought some BrickArms weapons (courtesy of minifigforlife.com) for my modular armoury project, as well as several pieces from BrickLink for another project.
  17. Purely on impulse, 7 more series 1 minifigs from Argos. Not pleased... 3 x astronaut 2 x skater 1 x crash dummy 1 x cowboy
  18. Celebrated getting paid by buying 13 collectible minifigs, from two branches of WH Smiths. The second time around a staff member helped me out with getting a magician and a nurse, thanks to the barcodes. 2 x spaceman (which turned out to be not as good as I thought) 2 x cowboy 1 x wrestler 1 x zombie 1 x clown (again :( ) 1 x forestman 1 x crash dummy 1 x caveman 1 x ninja 1 x magician 1 x nurse Because I haven't had any luck doing trades on EB, they've gone straight to BrickLink (except for the ninja, magician and nurse, which I'm keeping).
  19. I would be interested in having decals printed for me, once I get around to designing them. Would you (Dutch) be able to print white and/or metallic colours on the decals?
  20. A few more ideas from the basement: Gender: Male or female Occupation/print on torso: New Doctor Type of headgear: hair Type of facial expression: calm, smiling Color on torso/legs: white torso with jacket markings, white or grey legs Accessory: stethoscope (as body wear) Gender: Male or female Occupation/print on torso: Surgeon Type of headgear: "shower cap" hat Type of facial expression: panicky Color on torso/legs: medium blue Accessory: facial mask, scalpel Gender: Female Occupation/print on torso: Cheerleader (alternate colour) Type of headgear: female hairstyle Type of facial expression: smiling with lips Color on torso/legs: red / black / green / white / purple / orange Accessory: pom poms in team colour Gender: Female Occupation/print on torso: Geisha (okay, maybe not this one :))
  21. It's just hit 11pm GMT on the 16th... I thought I'd get in one more entry, although it's more for myself than the competition. This is my "LDD + Physcial Bricks" entry: Space Station Nina Other people have gone big and detailed with their entries, but since I'm a relative newbie to big builds, I thought about going the other way and creating something small and representative, similar to Zblj's entry. This is actually a prototype for a space station design. I had the image of what I wanted to create in my head, but I was never able to draw it. Playing around in LDD gave me a lot of ideas and pieces to use, but it was actually trying to build it with real bricks that gave me the final design. (For instance, LDD didn't make it obvious that ball joints are affected by gravity, so I switched to using friction pegs for the side ports.) Unfortunately one order from BrickLink didn't come through in time, so most of today was spent trying to find parts in my sorted and unsorted lots. Some substitutions, such as the tan-coloured corner piece and the dark gray tiles, had to be made.
