  1. Just a small question, which may have been answered before: is it known how many of the most popular parts will or might be produced? (The most popular five or ten or so.) I know what I voted for, but it would be a shame if only a handful were chosen, as there's a lot of really good suggestions.
  2. Your tribal hunter for a test dummy?
  3. For anyone who doesn't have issues with trading with someone from the UK... Haves (all assembled, with accessories) 3 x S1 Cowboy 2 x S1 Diver 3 x S1 Crash Dummy 2 x S1 Forestman 3 x S1 Skater 5 x S1 Spaceman 4 x S2 Ringmaster 2 x S2 Highway Patrol Officer (cop) Wants S1 Nurse (or any hospital-related minifigure) S1 Cheerleader S2 Singer S2 Mime Artist S2 Skiier To complete the set: S2 Pharoah S2 Disco guy S2 Explorer S2 SPARTA!n
  4. WH Smith in the Plaza on Oxford Street has series 2 minifigs. You can find them in the queuing section at the front, which makes it awkward to pick out the ones you want. But when I was there for series 1 minifigures, fortunately a member of staff helped me out. Managed to get a weightliter in today's catch, which leaves four minifigures to go for a complete set.
  5. Since we have the witch as an S2 minifig, why not a Wizard of Oz theme? It was recently its 71st anniversary or something like that.
  6. I bought 140 2 x 2 light "bley" tiles from the online shop earlier this year. Even with shipping it was less expensive than ordering through BrickLink.
  7. Welcome to the show! Excellent MOC so far, I like the use of the five or so colours with the pieces, and not overly fancy building style. Now get building!
  8. Raid! Who wants to trade?
  9. Excellent build! And props to you for making the whole thing fold up for transportation. Not sure if I'd want to have a go in one of those...
  10. Welcome fellow UK person!
  11. The first two are indeed too big, when compared to a Lego-made sword - I didn't take proper measurements at the time. The whip sword is about the right length.
  12. Been waiting forever for my BrickLink orders, so I decided to try my hand at making custom parts. I would have to do it at some point anyway. These came fresh off the press last night (apologies for the blurry photo): From left to right: Plasma sword (a.k.a. Zero's sword from the Mega Man series) Made out of strip styrene. I liked the simplified triangular version of the sword in more recent games. "Cloud" sword (from you-know-where) Also made out of strip styrene, and a little bit wonky. I'm not really familiar with the game it's from. Whip sword Made from Lego pieces. The handle is a modified lightsabre hilt, painted over with lacquer paint; the blade is a long antenna with the stud and the point removed. Enjoy!
  13. I really like the "Formula 1" tyres.
  14. Excellent job! I appreciate that you went for the studded look, that isn't so common these days. It must have been so hard to build!
  15. - Part name: 1 x 1 Pyramid - Part description: Imagine two of these adjacent to each other. - Part usage: A useful brick to add more detail to an MOC. I would personally use it to create even smaller scale houses and other features. - Part name: 1 x 2 Hinge Brick (180 degrees) - Part description: Similar to this but with 180 degree rotation instead of 90. - Part usage: For items such as see-saws, or anything that requires rotation on the spot. - Part name: Slope 45 2 x 2 with studs - Part description: A slope brick with studs on the actual slope. - Part usage: For creating non-perpendicular walls and other surfaces. - Part name: Cube Brick with six holes - Part description: Literally a cube-shaped brick (width, height and depth of one stud) with holes on each side. Think the reverse of this piece. I'm thinking of a 1 x 1 brick, but it could also be a 2 x 2. - Part usage: Would be very useful for SNOT building. Although Technic pieces can be used instead of this, there's the issue of the height of a standard brick to contend with. - Part name: Cube Brick with six studs - Part description: The reverse of the last idea: a cube-shaped brick with studs on each side. - Part usage: Would also be very useful for SNOT building. - Part name: 1 x 1 Round Tile - Part description: A 1 x 1 version of the 2 x 2 round tile. - Part usage: Again for decorative purposes, where we don't want to have a stud sticking out like with the 1 x 1 round plate. (I'd imagine they'd be a nightmare when it comes to losing them, however.) - Part name: 1 x 1 Round Brick with grooves - Part description: One of these with grooves on the sides, similar to the handles on this. - Part usage: For decorative purposes, I suppose. - Part name: Double-sided Bar - Part description: This, but with stop rings on both sides. - Part usage: For placing bars between objects, without having to worry about adjusting them. - Part name: Sliding door mechanism - Part description: Imagine a one- or two-stud wide version of this, coupled with a thin door like this. It would work a lot like the garage door parts. - Part usage: For easily creating sliding doors for buildings. This is something I've seen quite a few people try to emulate using existing parts, and something I'd really like to use. - Part name: Kangol-style beret (like on the S2 mime artist minifig, it's okay after all!) - Colours: white, light/dark bluish grey, dark green, red, dark red. - Part name: Windscreen for 10 x 14 x 2 2/3 Cockpit - Part description: A windscreen piece to fit this cockpit, in the style of this existing windscreen. - Part usage: For anyone who doesn't want to be stuck using this rollcage piece. Imagine what kind of spacecraft or vehicles could be built with a windscreen for this part.
  16. Thanks very much! There was some Tron inspiration with the trike design: I had wanted to create a cycle in a similar style but it didn't look good. And danim, I want to see the mod :)
  17. I don't buy sets any more, I mostly buy lots or parts. If I had to start over I would design the models first in LDD, then purchase the relevant parts from S@H or BrickLink.
  18. I'd nominate Ghostbusters.
  19. The finished article... First the trike: And a few shots of the exhibit display.
  20. I would agree with those points. I guess I didn't clarfy, but it would be an optional tool/function. Sometimes the builder knows better!
  21. Well done everybody who entered, and congratulations to the winners. Whether we want to admit it or not it was obvious who was going to win - but that's because they brought their A game. Here's to making the next one that much harder to judge!
  22. I want one of those! In lime :) Excellent work recreating the model in miniature. Is it able to be played with, or is it fragile?
  23. Here's another suggestion: an function to "optimise" the pieces used in a design. For example: if I have four 1 x 1 plates stacked on top of each other, and they are all the same colour, it would be useful to suggest replacing three of them with a 1 x 1 brick. I came across this issue when building the plan of St Horam West, where I'd used two 1 x 4 plates instead of a 2 x 4. Not only would it potentially lower the cost of a model, but it might also encourage efficient building.
  24. I actually like the disused, boarded-up look - be sure to keep those pictures! But in any case that's a great modular building.
