  1. And so it starts Dark turtle auction
  2. Nori because he's rockin' that awesome hair. Plus he has fantastic eyebrows.
  3. I'm weeping because I so want one but will never own one. Such a cool minifigure. Thank you for the big pictures.
  4. I was too old to be awed by the Turtles when they hit big in the 80's and the terrible live action movies didn't do much to gain my love. The CGI movie 'TMNT' from 2007 is what piqued my interest really. IMHO that's the best the turtles have ever looked and the movie wasn't that bad. Damn shame there weren't more CGI movies. Live action turtles is just wrong and they deserve better than cheap minimal frame animation. These Lego sets will probably not interest me. Judging by the style of the Shellraiser vehicle. The roof wedges might be worth having but other than that it's really just the minifigures that are worth getting. maybe not Dogpound though. He looks like a Crash Bandicoot ripoff. Shame dark Leo is an exclusive. Would have liked him. There's no way I'm going to pay through the nose for a minifigure exclusive. Really hoping Casey is in one of the other sets. I'd rather get him than April.
  5. *cough* series ten would be a nice place to finish the collectible series' at.
  6. Well I'll definitely be buying the firefighters and police minifigures. I love them. They match up with this years forest fire and police in that the emblems on their torsos are the same design. To my mind it just signifies that as in the real world, things get changed and modernised. If i have any beef at all about fire minifigures it's that the helmets seem somewhat old fashioned. I haven't seen a helmet like that on a real fireman in years. Now they have more compact rounder helmets with visors. I'd like to see Lego give firemen those helmets in future. Their current one has been in use since at least 1978. Probably time to retire it. It's not like there aren't billions of them floating around already if anyone should want some. It's time to update and reflect what kids see on real firemen.
  7. No they don't silly, girls all flock to buy Friends. City isn't for girls it's for boys and friends is for girls because it's girly and pink and has hairstyles and cute fluffy aminals. Because that's all any girl would ever want EVER! And all boys want is the same sets regurgitated every single year ad nauseum. Nothing but a sea of red bricks and firemen forever. YAAAAAAAAYYYyyyyyyy..........
  8. I'm not entirely convinced that the german shepherd dog mould is the actual one we'll get. These pictures aren't final factory production samples. It'll be a shame if Lego do use that mould but it may be a stand in. It's not uncommon for things on the box to not match the actual contents.
  9. Not sure about the fire sets, The minifigures are great and I love the fire chief but the actual sets are fairly bland.Even the burning building isn't up to much. The police sets I love and even though the museum is really small I think it looks great. Cool vehicles and fantastic minifigures. The vest is different to Chase McCain's from the video game. Chase has a zip on the right breast whereas these have a radio. Still good though and a refreshing change to the usual black uniformed police. The criminals new torso is also cool. I'm still drooling over the pictures.
  10. I wouldn't get your hopes up. It'll probably be another fifty years until Lego enters the 21st century regarding gender stereotyping. Anything like schools and shopping malls will default to the Friends theme. because shops and education are obviously girly. Whereas vehicles are obviously all boys want. every single boy across the entire planet!
  11. Ermergerd! Awesome! So hope that's true.
  12. Must - have- that - rock - band - set!!!!! Totally didn't like the colours of the rock chick but she looks great in black. Also love the green mohican. Couldn't care less about the monsters but the rock band is so worth getting.
  13. A CD of Gregorian monks covering pop and rock songs. It's very odd. REM, Sting, Phil Collins etc. Not my usual fare but I thought I'd give it a listen as it's sunday and my partner is watching the news on the TV where idiots are arguing about sunday opening hours for shops. Also been listening to a fair bit of Snow Patrol. A hundred million suns is my favourite album at the moment.
  14. Hmmm. This is quite accurate.
  15. Ehrmehrgehrd - I got a Lego date wrong. Shoot me now! The video is still creepy as a Werthers Originals advert though.
  16. Lego has never drained my wallet. I don't let a hobby overwhelm my life. My partner on the other hand takes almost every penny I have. Such is life as a grown up.....
  17. Since I replied last year I've stopped buying sets. Focusing instead on Minifigures and parts purchases. Partly because my budget is tiny but mostly because I have so much Lego now I can build pretty much anything I want to. I just watch for new parts in sets and buy those from bricklink. My sets are all parted out and sorted into drawers. When I build something it hangs around for a few months then it's broken up, sorted and the process begins again. The only set I've had displayed since I built it is 7905: Building Crane. Only because I just can't face taking it apart with all the technic pins. I guess I might do that this winter and use the technic beams as an interior support structure on a spaceship. I suppose I've just developed a philosophy that the point of Lego is building and the rebuilding. Bricks ever in a state of transience. I used to collect action figures and after a while I looked at the massed displays and thought 'it's all just lumps of plastic gathering dust.' So I don't display them any more. I don't want Lego to become lumps of plastic gathering dust. I want it to be like it is in those TV commercials where there's a flow of bricks creating something new, then something different and so on and on and on. Creativity and imagination being the driving force rather than stagnation and unrealised potential.
  18. I found the whole animation creepy. Something about the sanitised version of events and really odd posture of all the characters. Felt like a cult indoctrination film. As far as the 80 years thing goes, I only measure from 1954 when System was introduced. That's when LEGO really became LEGO everything before that is just humdrum. 1954 brought LEGO out of the shadows and thrust it onto the global stage. That's worth celebrating. In two years time.
  19. I have a huge crate full of instructions dating back to my first set in the early 1970's there's no way I'd haul the boxes round too. They've always been thrown out or more recently recycled. Besides a bunch of cardboard lying around only encourages dust mites and mice. Though i suppose a large collection of flattened boxes could make good loft insulation....
  20. DJ Skier Cheerleader Businessman Football player Bavarian Cowgirl Diver Actor Conquistador Pirate Santa Alien queen Vampire manbat Evil robot Fairy That's my order of preference. The vast majority of my Lego is town and city so I always go for contemporary minifigures first followed by historical and then fantasy if I have the funds or interest in the designs. I've never felt the urge to have every single collectible minifigure or armies of any particular one but I've bought several from each series and where it suited my plans I've bough several of an individual minifigure such as the Galactic patrol and Hazmat suit guy. I'm not expecting this to be a long running thing. at some point Lego will end it and replace it with a different idea. Perhaps along the lines of CUUSOO where designs are submitted for voting and those that reach a certain number of votes are produced in special multi-packs. Or perhaps that's just wishful thinking as I loathe blind packaged products. I only ever buy my figures from Bricklink and Ebay. I can't be doing with chasing down what I want. if a minifigure costs more to buy it like I do then I just see it as paying for someone elses time in hunting the things down. I digress...
  21. Years ago I acquired a reel of thick cotton thread that was waxed. The wax stiffens it somewhat and helps it keep its shape. Also there's no 'hairiness' to the thread that you can get with regular thread so works better with the tiny scale of Lego. Aesthetically it's more pleasing to me than regular Lego string/rope. Unfortunately I'm nearing the end of what was a substantial reel and now have to find a source for more.
  22. No circus! They're cruel to animals. I'd be furious if Lego made a circus. Grrrrrr.
  23. Winter sports would be good. Ice rink, dual purpose. First for figure skating and second for ice hockey. Slalom ski slope with a ski lift along the side. Little winding lever at each end to make the lift go up and and down . Smooth surface for the skiers to whizz down on. Snowboard halfpipe, They could redo the gravity games stuff with a bit more flair and inventiveness. A tobogan ice track would also be cool and bring in a harmless competitive game sort of vibe. Shove a tobogan down the track and see who gets furthest. Would require new pieces to make the track but straight and curved in combinations would work and not be cost prohibitive I suppose. Dog sledding team would be cool too. With some sort of rubbery harness and collar thingy to attach a few dogs to the front of the sled. Ski lodge, essential to have a base to head out from and somewhere to warm up after being on the piste etc. Snowmobile, A small set with a couple of those and some conifers. Snowcat, Need to get supplies to the lodge somehow. A fat sled tacked on the back with crates and stuff covered by a cargo net and a plough attachment that can be fitted to the front. Dual purpose vehicle. Pontoon plane, For bringing those winter sports persons up the mountain. Though a helicopter would work too. Pontoon plane seems more fun though. more swooshable. Mountaineering team, because there's always some people idiotic brave enough to climb a mountain when it's pretty much vertical ice. Mountain rescue team, for those idiots brave mountaineers who fall off mountains into ravines and crevasses. Or avalanche search and rescue missions. Plus the winter village theme would tag onto it quite nicely. Sit alongside the lodge and add some hustle and bustle. Have to say I've never been up an alpine mountain in my life but this is what winter sports conjures up to me. If I was an under 12 year old I'd want this stuff.
  24. Just a lidded mug would do. The customer can then decide for themselves what it contains.
  25. Chewbacca could use an overhaul. Longer legs and arms. He looks diminutive compared to the Gamorrean.
