i have used a wormgear on a 24 tooth crowngear. 24 rotations of the motor results in one turn of the crowngear.

that is a cross with a crossaxle hole in the middle. the cross is fixed in the chassis with two 1/2 pins.

why not a suction excavator? very unique and many moving functions. my logging truck has needed some changes in detail. the first one was removing some holes to avoid hooking the gearshifters the next problem was a too hard working steering mechanism. so i have changed the front axle from 14 to 15 studs, that i can use the 13 long steering rack. now it works much softer when the ackerman geometry should go back to the center.

is something like this usable for you?

yes, only slightly modified for the working steering wheel and hand of god. but first i have to find a invisible place for the HoG

not yet. first i have to decide where i place the hand of god. flashing lights, exhaust pipes or a boring gear on the roof. and it would be nice if the lipo accu would look like cylindric fuel tank. but it isnt, so it must get his place in the cab.

yes, without a trailer the crane should be placed behind the rear axles, and then it would need a trailer too.

hm, it seems that mudguards have many fans. @ sam42 yes it is my tandem axle, and yes it will have a trailer with the self steering system @ jorgepoesi when it is finished, the it will hopefully look clean.

really? then i know whre my idea come from. update: first i had only want to implement the stabilizers. till then the gearbox was simple, now it is a labyrinth of gears and axles.

I think not. i have used the 24 tooth crown gear only to make the gearing so simple as possible, to make the concept more clear. In my logging truck i use three 8tooth to get the same effect.

The archetype of my logging truck is a peterbilt 359 and the crane should look like a US logging Crane.
