Ejector problem?.
dhc6twinotter replied to technicfan's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
That setup has worked fine in my mocs, but it works better if you use a 32L axle, like in the pictures. The 32L axle keeps any axle connectors from hanging up on the gear racks. It's even better if you can fit an 8 tooth gear between the rack and worm gear, similar to what Alasdair Ryan posted. Do you have any pictures of the area in question? -
Ejector problem?.

The plates should go between the studded brick and gear racks, like this: (sorry about the large picture....photobucket is being dumb and won't let me resize) -
Ejector problem?.
dhc6twinotter replied to technicfan's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It sounds like the studded beam slides directly on top of a studless beam. If this is the case, your clearance will be off. My advice is to connect some studless beams on either side of your studded beam, and use the studless beams as the slide guides. You can then put a row of plates, followed by your 1x4 gear racks on top of the studded beams. Hope that helps. -
Effe's MOC Corner

Looking good, efferman! I like how you are using the 20t and 12t bevel gears together for added strength. Clever idea there. -
Not that I'm aware of, however, LEGO did re-release the 8459/8464 front loader and a revised 8461 Williams F1 Racer/8458 Silver Champion. I don't think those sets were re-released because of there being wide demand though, but rather because LEGO did not have very many new Technic sets to offer in 2001 and 2002.

I've just recently started buying the modular buildings, and I'm already in love. My vote for new buildings include the following: -Police Station -Hospital or Medical Clinic -Fuel station with mechanic shop -Bakery -Post Office -Hardware Store -Library -Radio Station or TV Station -Dentist -School And, a modular style airport complete with some old aircraft (Sikorsky S-43 or similar). It may not fit the modular approach, but that sure would be fantastic!

Beautiful building! The color and overall design is great, and the moving elevator and conveyors are top notch. Definitely one of my favorite buildings.

I like those planetary wheels! -
My vote goes to 8265 front loader, 9398 log truck, and perhaps 8069 backhoe too. 8109 roll-back truck and 8053 crane were also surprisingly good sets. 8109 surprised me with some unique features, and 8053 used some interesting build techniques. The new service truck coming out looks pretty good as well, although I'm not sure that would be considered a mid-range set.

Here in the states, I used Plastic Bricks Direct quite a bit. They have a pretty large inventory, and they used to be fairly cheap. I haven't ordered any parts from anybody in a while, but I think PBD's prices have gone up a bit. My last few orders were from a few other random stores. Still, they have a good inventory, and they shipping fast.

Solid leaf-springs
dhc6twinotter replied to jorgeopesi's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
A while back, somebody posted a "leaf" spring suspension using the old steering rack and the steering rack bracket I can't remember who did that, but it seemed to be a good solution for building leaf spring suspensions. -

It looks like the 2nd floor and right wing are interchangeable. The structures are identical. -
Ideas for MOCs
dhc6twinotter replied to efferman's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Interesting video. Thanks for posting efferman. I never realized the Unimog is available with all wheel steering. Also, at 6:29, are those dual radiators, or is that a side-by-side radiator and intercooler (I would assume the latter)? That's an interesting arrangement. -

What an awesome April's Fool joke. Well done! I was surprised at how many fell for it, and reading the responses was quite hilarious. Looking forward to next April already. -

Shame I didn't read the rules a bit better. Had I known the top 100 would receive free LEGO, I would have tried to submit something.

Your parts wishlist
dhc6twinotter replied to skppo's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I agree with everything I've seen so far. Here are my additions: -One of these , but with the axle and pin hole reversed. -A 29L or 31L beam. -A micro motor. -Aircraft style tires that have a more rounded side profile. -A new style 9L steering rack. -PF flashing LED lights. -5x5 square panels with a curve to match the 5x11 triangle panels. -Some way to allow at least 4 axles through a turntable. -RF or maybe blue tooth remote control.
