Minifig Lecturer replied to ApophisV's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Hmmm Inteeeresting... You have many MegaBloks stuff or just dabbling? I think MB is ok, I mean if they were orginial block toy we all had I reckon this would be a MB forum and we'd all be dissing LEGO. -

This argument is serious now. You know, virtually none of the stadia used in Germany had race tracks. The reason was because the Germans had the benefit of hosting the tournament following USA'94 and Italia '90. The disaster of Italia '90 (and lesser extent USA94) was that all the redeveloped stadia (69,000 delle Alpi, 82,000 Olimpico, 55,000 San Nicola, 80,000 San Paolo etc) had athletic tracks built because they are not owned by the football clubs, but rather they are owned and funded by the city councils using taxpayers money (and therefore have to cater for everyone). Now in hindsight these are considered crap, there is no athmosphere (even if you are there, or watching on tv). As a result the attendences are dwindling which is a disaster for football in Italy. For some, there are plans to demolish them and make new stands close to the pitch, a good idea, but a huge waste of money originally. (Delle Alpi) Germany and France learnt these lessons from Italy's cock-up and rebuilt stadia after thinking about what's best for football and not what is best for skinny idiots running around in ovals. FIFA encourage this approach.

Some impressive stadia for sure but maybe in some cases the pitch sizes would be too big thus making the crowd far from the action, creating a crap athmosphere? I dont think AUS would be good for hosting the world cup on a fans point of view howver. It's a nice place sure but too far from the nations who love football and I suspect most games would be only half full. Too expensive to get to also however the cheap wine is a positive.

Surely it only takes a second to change back to the one used before Christmas?

Thanks Holodoc :-) Cool pic. No these red ones are the best!

Although I am not a fan of wide cars, this is good and it is nice to see a MOC made from the official sets. The use of the engine maintenace crane is great btw, suits it perfectly. I hope you post more City MOCs in future!

What would make Castle 2007 better than Classic Castle
Minifig Lecturer replied to BearHeart's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
These are what I think so too. Not sure if you mentioned above , but I think there should be no baseplates that aren't flat. Ramps should be made using boards, raised castles should be made on foundation of bricks and boards. Recently the crests used by the armies look very childish. The old Castle Lion/ Draco (Black falcon) crests were simply more realistic IMO. The sets of new Castles should be bigger and have more basic bricks, not all this fancy crap that makes them look bigger than they really are. Also, it would be good if the sets were connectable, i.e. you could connect the castle walls and sets together to make bigger castles, like the sets of the 1980s. Similarly if you could open them out...
