  1. I look forward to your update Dirty Bert. Thanks for keeping us posted. We all get better and better and building as we continue to build and gain feedback for our models. My first large scale ship that I posted on this forum was very colorful.
  2. Evil Stevie, Will you be posting images of your ship in the Pirate MOCs Forum when the ship is complete, or at least post it on your website? In case you are not aware, Cherno has been playing ESPG lately and has shared his adventures, such as his upcoming game and his fleet.
  3. That is not very descriptive. You need to provide a little more information, otherwise this topic will get closed. Edit: If you want this topic reopened are will add relevant information, PM myself or a MOD or Admin.
  4. Hey Kumpelkante, It was probably a good idea to get prepared to write a review of official Lego sets. First off, you pics are too large and need to be resized down to 800x600. If you need help resizing pics there are tutorials that exist in the Website Forum. I would highly recommend that you browse through these tutorials if you have any other questions about how to properly using this forum. If you would like to make reviews of Lego sets in the future, I would recommend that you check out this forum's reviewers academy. Details can be found here. Feel free to check it out. Thanks for sharing, Phred
  5. Images should be no larger than 800x600 not 3400x2600. Some people, such as myself, do not have very fast internet speed and pics this size take a very long time to load. You can resize pics using Lord of Pies tutorial with our list of tutorials.
  6. I always enjoy looking at other creations related to American ships. This is a great start to my favorite sailing vessels It looks great so far Dirty Bert! I'll post the pictures from Flickr onto this topic so that it may be more easily viewed: (Dirty Bert - Feel free to reply to this post and copy these image locations onto your first post) For your information: Our own member Paladin has made his version of Constitution utilizing pre-fab hulls a while ago. (and I could not find a topic for this MOC ) I highly recommend checking out his MOC, which will hopefully give you some ideas to improve your MOC. In agreement with Z, I do believe that the "railing" on the spar (or top) deck ought to be taller with gaps only for the cannons or carronades. The railing is not as tall in the gangway (or middle) portion of the ship. Here is a pic of the actual railing from the inside on the spar deck of Constitution: and here is a pic of a model I've found of Constitution that kind of shows where the railing is not as high along the gangway. I believe the captain's cabin and stern of this MOC is too boxy. Below is a pic of the model that shows a good view of the shape of the stern: Link to my Majhost Image gallery that I use to compile some of my reference images for Constitution. The figure head for Constitution is a simple billet head as opposed to a wooden sculpture. The original figure head for Constitution was Hercules, but I have not found any images for this figurehead. I do plan on using a Hoplite MF as an alternate figurehead to the Billet Head I have already created. I hope the comments help in the progress of this MOC and look forward to additional updates.
  7. What are you going to be doing with these bricks? Turning this vessel into one with a brick-built hull?!? I do not believe you need to apologize for buying out BL. I had bought out many of the browns wheels and black barrels for Constitution's cannons.
  8. Congrats Emily! Hopefully you at least got some B-day money so that you can go out an buy some lego.
  9. brickzone: 1 point brickcitydepot: 1 point CorneliusMurdock: 1 point pig: 1 point twigman: 1 point
  10. This vessel looks very nice. The rigging is top notch! I only have a couple of minor comments. I believe the cannons are too close to each other. a ship of this size should probably have fewer guns in its gun-deck. The captain's cabin may look better if the side windows sloped. The ship still looks great. Good job Taz.
  11. Agreed. I have a couple of the chrome cutlasses, and I like them. Everything else from my Enlighten bricks has been shoved in a drawer for later mutilation. They are of a very low quality as others have already mentioned.
  12. Thanks Captain Becker.
  13. I would try a quick initial game with the two newbies so that way they get used to the rules. Then, you can see if both of them teamed up would be able to take you on. If additional games were to be played, I am sure the new players would have an idea as to what they would like to do.
  14. I like the color coding of recruitable pirates and their color coding. Additional crew is always handy when taking over other vessels. In the gaming, are you able to take over a neutral port and use it as a base? The lack of sinking ships is very realistic to sailing era combat. The consensus of books that I have read is that few ships were sunk in combat and were instead taken over to be repaired.
  15. They look like they're from Woody64's 7th Mold. Here are the examples of his Wig: Woody showed these off in the To wig or not to wig thread.
  16. Mr. Leg-godt, As a courtesy, please only bump older threads if you have a good reason to that would add or continue the conversation. An older topic are threads that are at least three months old that are not found on the first one or two pages of the forum. It is perfectly acceptable to bump a thread... - When you have some significant information to add to the topic (typically more than one sentence), - When the old thread is a poll or another "timeless thread" such as Non-Pirate Mini-Figures Useful for Pirate MOCing?, or - When you have a significant question about the topic that has not been answered. The reason for this courtesy is because those who frequent EB have already given their input to the discussion of an older thread, and a quick one sentence reply does not add much to the topic. This is especially true if the topic already contains similar one sentence replies. I enjoy discussing Pirate Lego, and I look forward to getting into some fresh discussion with newer members such as yourself.
  17. Mr. Tree, What is this "It" that you speak of? Are you talking about the entire theme, a particular fig, a set, an accessory, etc? It would be great if this post was more substance to this post, so that I know exactly what your opinion is and why you have that opinion. Then, we could have a discussion on the Islander topic.
  18. The design of the overall hull flows very nice. I like your tumblehome effect. The captain's cabin is very uniquely done, but it still looks nice. It's too bad you couldn't fit more windows in it. Good job on your vessel Lt. The main improvement I could see being done to this vessel is to spread the gun ports out and move a couple onto the bow. Lt. Gonville, you mentioned that this vessel is a 10 gun frigate. However I see that the broadside has only four guns. Where are the other two guns?
  19. I agree, Blaakmohr definitely should not be promoted to Mod. On the other hand, Blackmoor is perfect for the job. Thank you for all of your hard work!
  20. That is an odd anomaly Wout Wout's Flickr link Phred's Flickr link My link works and yours does not, and they both have the same URL. Phredit: I see what the difference is now. Wout's link has capital "O" in @NO4 portion of the url, and mine has the number zero. prateek, Capitalized letters should not make a difference in a URL.
  21. Congratulations again B. Thank you B for being our LA again. I am much obliged that someone such as yourself is a LA. Well knowing this has me looking more forward to the upcoming POTC sets. I really do hope that TLG incorporates some of our ideas.
  22. I hope Badger does not mind me quoting him about Brickarm's response to inquiries about when future items will be released. All we know is that the musket is in prototype stage. Who knows if even the owner of Brickarms (Will) knows when these prototypes will be available. I am sure we will be informed if there are any updates to the muskets availability. In the mean time, we must patiently wait.
  23. I am very impressed with this vessel. It looks very clean, complete, and looks great. I only have a couple of minor suggestions to improve upon this moc about the railing and the red studs shown near the water line. ibinsnur recently posted another ship, the Smit Rotterdam, where 3mm rubber hoses were used instead of the white 3mm bars and flag polls that you used. A railing style similar to this may look a little better. For the row of studs along the waterline, did you try using 1x3 and 1x4 curved, sloped bricks to see if the hull would look better? Here are pics of the sloped bricks: These are just suggestions. The MOC looks awesome the way it is right now. Do you a picture available of the actual Cutty Sark? Does this vessel have an interior?
  24. Disregard if I missed this vessel in the index. I figured this vessel is MOC Ship Index worthy. Especially since there are some flying ships. Picture is a link to the thread in the Other Lego Themes forum. It's the clipper Cutty Sark. If you like, I suggest posting your comments in its thread following the picture-link.
  25. I am glad you had kept the stairs from the old Phantom. They look really good. My only suggestion for them would be to have the stair tiled to match the deck better. Although I am not sure how it'd look using a 1x1 plate, a 1x1 tile, and a 1x2 tile instead. The use of the fishing pole for the railing of these stairs is a great idea. I look forward to the completion of the stern. Using magnets to fasten the "walls" of the captain's cabin is a GREAT idea. I can see how magnets allow these walls to be any desired angle and shape and maintain a lot of accessibility to the cabin, which was vital for me. I now look forward to working on my stern for Constitution using the same method. I really like the realistic size of the gun ports for this ship, and a more accurate gun port spacing. This added accuracy makes it possible for a full gun crew of 12 to 18 (or so) crew men to be able to surround each gun and allows the cannon to be rotated a little so that it can have a larger angle of fire horizontally.
