  1. I believe Zorro would be looking to add to his sigfig once he gets his hand on this MF. Other non-pirate MF that may be useful include a lot of the Middle Eastern figures portray in the Indiana Jones sets. Not all of the torsos are very piratey, such as the torsos found on these guys: However, swapping out some PoP torsos (such as the main characters) or swapping some Ninja torsos can quickly make the figures look more like Saracen Pirates.
  2. I will at least be attending Sat. and use a hotel this time. According to someone I met there that is a member here, a lot goes on at BW after all the kiddies leave. Plus it'd be a great way to get to know some AFOLs a little better.
  3. I just have to say that this project is much more impressive in real life than with the pictures! The coloring of the gold, dark red & blue, and black is excellent. The aesthetics of the vessel flow together very nicely. The bowsprit is mounted on really well and looks very realistic. I am really looking forward to the progress of this vessel. Below is a thumb-link to the technic loop piece: The loop is about 2X2 studs on the outside.
  4. 1) No 2) No 3) Replace with Yellow I am really not a big fan of the flesh figs and replace any of their pale fleshy faces with yellow ones. Any torsos that have flesh color on them I typically keep set aside. I will probably sell the "undesirable" fleshy torsos at my BL. I have WAY too many yellow figs to switch all of them to flesh toned. This past couple of years I have gotten a lot of fleshy faces. But they're still out numbered by the original yellow faces 20:1.
  5. I don't have the ability right now, nor do I have enough dumbbells, but I think these dumbbells would look really nice on a version of my small cannon.
  6. Nice little cannon you've got there. Smart use of the weights and spyglass. I would use a black spyglass, but I would not have thought to use that piece for cannons.
  7. I didn't know I looked like Napoleon! I wonder if I only look like him when i'm scruffy looking. Who is the guy with the rapier? It's a nice looking army you've got there jackdaw.
  8. Great idea for a MOC! I really like the building. The only thing I would change in the MOC would be to use brick arches like this rather than like this . But I'll assume you were limited in bricks though. When was your ancestor a ship wright?
  9. I'm kind of skeptical of the POTC theme. I am not looking forward to flesh-figs. Hopefully the sets will be a better quality than the recent pirate theme sets. I never got either of the ships. I am really glad to see that TLG is going to continue to create pirate elements. I still need to get a lot of piratey crew and weapons.
  10. A few months ago I found out about Redans Redan Its the type of fort I would like to build in the near future (when I get time ). This type of fort is V-shaped and is open in the back. They're typically very small. Here's a picture from the Wiki article:
  11. I had never thought of city building in this manner (or any lego building for that matter). I have had a lot of buildings in the area where I live that I would love to build, but having them in the correct scale would cause them to be too large. So I have not built them. Now I can start by scaling them down and not loose the impression of the building style. Thanks Brick Miner
  12. You don't need to have official lego cannons. A couple small moc cannons will work perfectly fine for a ship of this size. There is a whole bunch of cannons in the MOC Cannon Index.
  13. While the cannon battle set was out at stores, I had found it 22 times. I'll just get the last ones I want from BL. There are still plenty of piratey stuff I need to get for Constitution.
  14. Well, I had just gotten this set yesterday from S@H. I was going to purchase the Imperial Flag Ship, but opted for this set instead along with purchasing other sets. All in all, I am happy that I had purchased Soldier's Fort and the other sets instead of getting the IFS. The only problem with not getting the IFS is that I am still short 2 cannons for Constitution. I had given this set an average rating. Cons: For the price of this set, there really were not a lot of bricks, which is a problem that most of the pirate sets have been plagued with. I was really unhappy about the stickered brick patterns for the wall pieces. I didn't use any of the stickers. I just put the stickers in the jail for now, until I place them in my sticker container. A minor problem I had with this sets was that the row boat did not come with a bench or two. Pros: I liked that I am able to get all of the key pirate figures in one set. Before this set, I did not have the Imperial officer or Captain (Whatever )beard. The playability this is really nice. I like that the set is stand alone or can be added to additional Soldier forts or MOCs. I also like that the set can easily be rearranged so to fit where I would like to put it.
  15. I've never heard of them referred to as swords. I've only heard them called Leeboards.
  16. I would love to play ship(s) to ship(s)/fort(s) combat with Lego. In the near future, I hope to transfer all of the rules and calculations of ESPG onto an Excel spread sheet. I've made a few things for gaming in Excel, but I have a lot to go. Since most people I know already have a laptop. People could have one of these files open during the game play. My goal would be to have simpler and faster game play so that more time can be devoted to more important stuff such as pillaging and killing.
  17. This is a really great MOC you've accomplished so far Z. I really hope I get to see it in real life (soon).
  18. I really like how the buildings are not perpendicular to the dock. Do you plan on building any more MOC structures? I would add some dark tan, and light bley to the "road".
  19. Oh my goodness!! This is sooooooooo awesome! I wish I had the time to build something like this! Are you going to make instructions?!? Oh I hope you do! Thanks in advance!. Great work Blacky. I am very impressed. I look forward to its rigging being completed.
  20. Congratz Blacky! This has been well earned. Thanks for you support of this forum.
  21. Completed!
  22. Those are some REALLY nice looking Holdens. Nice picture. I have never seen it before. I posted it in Scale of Minifigs Topic.
  23. Gambort recently posted a picture of minifigs scales next to a person in his Old Holdens Topic, and I thought it was very relevant to this discussion. I personally would prefer around the 40:1 scale. It's a little shorter than a real person, and compensates a little for the extra width of a mini-fig.
  24. Matteo, If you were to resize your images to 600x800 pixels, you would be able to fit more pics in your imageshack folder. I would also recommend using Brickshelf or Flickr. They're both free and have more room available for your images. There is a Eurobricks Tutorial Index that contains a lot of helpful information for resizing images and such.
