  1. 21d I've always liked the way Junks looked and thought about making a MOC of one. So I WIP'ed this thing together in one night. I'm pretty happy as to how well it has turned out so far. I don't have any Chinese ppl, but I do have some ninjas. So this is my current story on my piece of junk X-D : There was a small Japanese village minding their own business (fighting other ninjas) until this Chinese Junk would regularly attack them. The ninjas of the village didn't take kindly to this and wanted to annihilate these peskie Chinese. So on one dark evening, the ninjas snuck up on the junk and quickly wiped out the evil Chinese onboard. Now, using the captured junk, the ninjas of the village protect the coastal waters of their village and lived happily ever after. The starboard side. I used a grappeling hook as an anchor. It looks pretty close to a real chinese anchor. The port side. The brown lightsaber piece moves with the rudder. A picture of a Chinese merchant vessel. This was my inspiration. The picture is from the book calls Ship by the Smithsonian. Sorry for the horrible pictures. My camera died and it's getting very late. I'll post better pics and hopefully finish the sails and rigging tomorrow.
  2. oh my goodness!!!! i had no idea! X-O that sucks royally i feel so sad for fellow Lego fans abroad :-( i wonder if it has to do with supply and demand i've heard it quoted on EB that lego has 60% of business done in Europe compared to 40% in the US. but i don't know anything about the rest of the world. so the demand is higher in europe than the US therefore the price is higher :-( that still sux if that's true it seems to cost about 20-25 USD to ship from Wisconsin, USA to Germany. So it probably is worth it for europeans to have their legos shipped from the US. (if you know someone here that is)
  3. that's a nice MOC! i like the details of the building. I wondering if it's too realistic for the KK figs. :-P j/k It's the first time i had wished i had purchaced a KK set *knight* ... ...so that i can have them sliced into itty bitty bits by my vikings >:-) . Or maybe even sliced by all my CC figs. *skull*
  4. I had always thought of these as burps: While these i considered to be mountain pieces: I don't mind these cause they're pretty easy to integrate into large castles. I didn't know others considered all of these as BURP's. now i know.
  5. Headlamps huh? :-|| I don't know about you two. My wife already thinks i'm crazy for taking pictures to post on EB, and BS. I think i'll stick to my fully adjustable office lamp with a clamp for now. Us broke college students don't have a lot of money :-$ to go buying headlamps. Maybe i'll ask for one for easter or B-day. BTW how much do they cost? Only $6 ay? Sounds awesome. I'm gonna have to make a trip to Dollar General now. Thanx Lord Admiral.
  6. Someone should post that pic on EB. It's small enough (barely) hmm maybe i will. I think it may be one of the best castles ever. I don't see any burps. So either they're not in this set or they're well hidden. Definetely going to see about buying this set instead of SW. I think the dragon looks pretty good. I can't stand technic/bionicle creatures like with the vikings :-X . I'm very curious about the piece count if it's 100 euro.
  7. Err Commodore that link didn't work. but this one does. For deeplinks i just keep on clicking on the picture (from BS i assume) until there is a ###.jpg or ###.gif at the end of the web address. Edit: Hold on a sec while i tinker with my computer here
  8. I know I
  9. Yeah the water in wisconsin always seems to taste bad so i get bottled water too. [Edit: yeah i'm sure the kids would call it Armageddon when it was just a wee little row boat :-D ] Is this what you mean by a door rail piece? Just wondering cause the link didn't work. I use this piece with this piece cause i have very few of these . Also if your low on these you can usally use some of these instead and to get the right length.
  10. holy... ...eh... ...ships :-$ that's a lot of vessels you have there matey with a complete fort brighton too. you definetely got yer-self a lot of piratey bricks!! i only have enough lego hulls for 5 ships (but i have lots of bricks so i made my own hull X-D)
  11. well the black pearl and the HMS suprise inspired me to build my frigate. i was going to build a mini-fig scale black pearl but it proved too large for the amount of black i thought i had. so i went with amore modern HMS Suprise style of ship instead. although i might be able to make one now that i have lots of rown from the sandcrawler and jaba's sail barge to integrate with my black and dark bley.
  12. I've gotten my brother the three books shown below. I read most of these three and skimmed through all of them to see if they're worth giving my brother for Christmas. I just wanted to give my 2 cents worth about these books. I like this one. It's focused heavily on the British though. Though it does cover around 1780 to 1815 or so, and the British had the largest navy during that time. This one is my second favorite of the three. Spent $9.24 (including shipping) I'd recomend purchasing this one. Since my brother has this one, I'll probably be puchasing Patrick O'Brians Navy. Since they're related some how. This one I think is ok. Does contain some details about ships that aren't covered in the other two books. Definetely worth the $8 bucks to get it. It's my third favorite of the the three. It seemed too short and could have easily been more thorough. If you want to try to learn every historical fact on sailing ships like me, then i'd recomend getting this one. I like this one a lot. Gives lots of pictures of different vessels of each sailing era and gives lots of overview on some of the more famous ships. This one has the most pages of the three books so it's oviously the most thorough. Spent $11.49 (including shipping) This book discusses all ships from the first dug-out canoes to modern aircraft carriers. Definetely recommend purchasing this one. BTW: i didn't make this post till after Chrstmas cause my brother also reads this forum (but he's not a member yet).
  13. only in the last 5 years have i started having a lot of trouble with the building instructions. i'm always mixing up colors now because TLC has decided to make millions of colors and not improve the color scheme on the directions. As matter of fact i do have a bunch of classic castle. Hmm. I'm gonna have to try that. BTW what's the address of your house so i can send those extra armor pieces (j/k :-P ).
  14. I think some of those photos should be shown on EB so I'm gonna post them X-D Aaron's new 3rd rate right next to his awesome heavy frigate. Another view of the Agamemnon (hopefully that's spelt right) some of the troops and we can't forget the water (the ocean ain't made of fresh water ya know :-D ).
  15. It depends on what size you get. But i know this in Amrican $ cause i don't know the conversion to euro. But here in the states the drawer displayed costs between 15-20 dollars. they're found in the hardware department at department stores by all the tools. there are other types of drawer organizers found in the storage section like these: These come in a bunch of sizes and range from about $7 for the one displayed to about $30 for the bigger drawers. They all should be found at Wal-mart, Target, and most other department stores.
  16. Aye!! :skel1: With the knowledge of these sets coming out, i have decided to discontinue my SW purchases (SW is getting kind of old anywayz w/ re-re-release of the x-wing and re-release of most of the other sets i have already) and purchase mostly these new castle sets instead. For piratey reasons of course. X-D
  17. Lord Admiral, I like how you've used SW torsos on some of your pirates. I also have been trying to experiment with this but didn't know if anyone else was. I'm always looking for ways to have more pirates. You could try organizing your bricks like this: I've got 7 of these drawer organizer thingys. I got the idea from a friend of mine (the man has half a wall full of these!!). It seems to work pretty good. I've pretty much ran out of room in them and stopped organizing bricks from my big tub and just dig for the pieces i need until i can afford more drawer thingys.
  18. I like the classic "non-flared" and flared and grilled about equally. I love classic castle. *wub* the kettle is really neato too.
  19. OH MY GOODNESS!! It only took you 2 days to built the ArbiterII?? That's fast! I guess those were very decent plans indeed. Edit: That's still not a lot of time for this quality of a moc! I've been working on my frigate since September and just now i am getting to the point where it's getting sorta close to done (besides the interior). I've rebuilt and redesigned major portions of the ship multiple times to get it where it's at (and i still don't like the stern). If you're this fast at CADing and MOCing maybe you should enter some compitions with lego. You'd probably do very well! Although i have no idea where there would be any; but being near the twin cities, there should be some.
  20. What's wrong with huge ships? I don't see anything wrong with mine. I think Ft. Brighton fits well with this beautiful MOC.
  21. The ArbiterII Looks real nice! The lower gun deck seems a little... ...eh low. but those snot walls turned out real nice. very original and still kool looking. good job i like how your captain fig has the black rifle on his back. i may have to "borrow" that idea. Edit: i see you've got your avatar with a rifle on his back too. is this a new idea or have you been putting rifles on your figs' backs for a while now?
  22. My carronade designs finally became public. To view them go to this website. If you want it to have black "wheels" go to this site. If it doesn't work go to http://factory.lego.com/gallery/ and search under the creator's name derhp and or search under carronade and carronade2.
  23. It seems like this new castle theme has a bunch of new silver helmets and armor maybe. (hopefully) I
