I don't know how it broke. I had gotten about 8 gallons of bricks (err about 32 Liters) for free (yes free!!) from a friend of mine that just had them laying in their basement in a tote. It had almost all the pieces for the CC and the BSB and a bunch of other sets. That cannon was with those bricks. Edit: LOL!!! @ Clavin

I've found this: This is the only part that talks about the poundage or caliber of cannons. Unless I'm mistaken, it didn't specifically say what the poundage of his cannons were. The reason i did it was that this shooting cannon was broken when i got it and i didn't have all the broken pieces to fix it to its original state, so i improvised. I just shoved a lego head with a 1x1 cone brick attached to it, which is mentioned in the Custom Cannons thread.

The future direction of the Pirate LEGO Forum
Capn Frank replied to Bonaparte's topic in LEGO Pirates
i'm all for this site being called www.piratebricks.something. escpecially if lego would keep a tight leash around us pirates. i dunno about yous guys. but this pirate ain't gonna be on a tight leash. Aaargh! X-D -
(Wouldn't let me edit this into my last post here) :'-( Here is an image list of my cannons that I have currently built. a blurry pic of one of my railing mounted cannons. The barrels of these are now drk grey instead of white. similar versions of the same caliber of cannon. I

I would like to know if anyone has done a lot of research about the conversion of the poundage or caliber of the cannon to the lego version of a cannon. Or your opinion of what the caliber of each cannon size. I

the gap along the side is pretty much only visable at that specific angle. also the gap lessens when the side plates are pressed in all the way. from the top view, you can't even see a gap on the side. the bow on the other hand has a few smaller gaps and two gaps one plate thick. i dunno how to fix that yet.

MIND THE COLORS PLEASE, I JUST THREW THIS THING TOGETHER along these lines is what i was talking about. i still like your design much better. i've only got certain sizes in flex hoses and most of my color appropriate click hings are already being used in my frigate. I'll probably keep it built until i come up with a better bow design. Cause i'd like to have my own longboats for my frigate maybe.

ah... ah... achoo! j/k :-P i've never seen blue cannons before! i didn't know they excisted. i'll have to keep my eye out for a couple of them on BL or soemthin. i think the blue cannons look great on the two sister ships. they add contrast and a little elegance to the vessels. EDIT: Thanx jamtf

I saw this on MOC pages and gave it a great review. I thought that was a great cog, and the castles he built to go with it are awesome! It's a pitty there wasn't much feedback for it. It might be a Byzantium or an Ottoman (i.e. present day Turkey) vessel. Then i could see the Arabian sail configuration happening and the ship having an older cog look to it.

i picked the crane the piece count verses the cost is spectacular if ya buy the crane you'll have toilet! dude, a lego toilet
-
you know of a good brand of night vision goggles by chance? My lego room has one small window. it's on the north side of the house. but i think i'll cover it up to help prevent yellowing hmm, i wonder if bleach water would work. That'd be flippin sweet! I've got a lot of pale yellow bricks (white).

According to this my frigate started out as a Fifth Rate ship with the standard armament of 34 cannon on one gun deck. Now that the pirates took it over, I'd be considered a Fourth Rate ship with the added 15-20 cannons on the top deck. I think legopirate83 would have the only First Rate lego ship i've seen that's seems close to scale.

Which is your favourite base in the Pirate LEGO theme?
Capn Frank replied to Tully's topic in LEGO Pirates
EF gets my vote. It's got my two favorite mini-figs in it. Plus it comes with a descent amount of white castle bricks to make a kool harbor like ZCerberus's. Well, maybe not that many white castle pieces. I don't own yet. But early next year i will (hopefully). -
Nice MOC. I've never thought of using paper to make may sails. Hmm I might have to try it. I think the sails look pretty good. The only thing i don't like is that the masts don't seem held up very well by those shorter rope pieces. Otherwise it looks great. I like the way the little long-boats are made. I personally would never want to cut up my lego bricks. But your design is much more realistic and sturdy than building a brick whaling-boat. I wonder if plates and click hinges would work. I really like the idea of using a totally different vessel than the standard military and pirate ship!
-
Ya can't use the torso for anything except as a jailbird or on a run down pirate ship. Most of the other pirate mini-figs can be more easily used for the imperials as cannon gunners or grunts. I like versatility with my mini-figs that's all. It's not that i HATE him, he's my least favorite. I'd rather have these guys anyday over the 4+ :-X
-
hey Aaron, do you have a website with the pics of your vessel, i'd love to see it! :'-) Update: I've found your MOC frigate in the forum. It looks great! LOL! :-D

This is my favorite Pirate Mini-fig although i dont have this one, he's definetly up there on my want list when i start to purchase from bricklink. Probably will buy him with a set cause he's very expensive by himself. this is my runner up to my favorite. i've got 16 of them right now. i love the blue coats! unfortunetly i don't have any red coats yet. but that'll change.... eventually. my least favorite pirate mini-fig is: i've got almost ten of these guys. if you're building a quality pirate ship or imperial ship, ya can't do squat with these losers without making my precious ship look bad unless he's in the jail (hmm... that's an idea).

my metric converting to stupid english standard isn't that good so i always try to say about :-P My brother and i were talking about having a role playing battle between our naval vessels using evil stevies games rules or something similar. My brother got deployed to Kuwaitt and i had a year to make something to go up against his massive fleet of about 8 - 12 non-MOC ships and another 5 - 7 imperial assorted forts He's back home in the US now and likes the ship A LOT. He doesn't want to dismantle all is non-MOCs to make one big ship though. well first i was going to build as big of a MOC as possible with the hull pieces and used up most of them. I started with the layout of the hull pices and it looked way too skinny for the length i wanted. After a little research on frigate sized vessels, i found that a frigate sized vessel is at least 25 and up to 40 feet wide, or about :-D 8 to 13 meters. In my estimation, i usually consider each stud to be 1 foot by 1 foot; so i realized i needed a ship that has a hull that's at least 25 studs wide. my first hull construction was around 24 studs wide and i was pretty content with it until i realized i had quite a lot of pieces left for the bottom of the hull. so i tore it apart and started with the bow and just made as big of a bow as possible with all my black and white 3x3 facet bricks and it came to be 30 studs wide. And i made the Dame du Loup (err. most of it).

that's a nice looking cannon. only one minor problem is that i would use a Black Bar 6.6L (4095) instead of the long flag pole as the plunger thingy, Mr. Tiber. Hey is there an official calliber or weight of the round by how big the barrel is for legos?? 8-| i'm just curious if there is an accepted system that yous ppl use that i don't know about or if this should be a start of a new thread.
-
thanx evil willy, i'm glad you thought of the glue mix for the edges, the use of coffe seems like a great idea. i'll definetly try that when i make the sails for my frigate im currently building

i made a better avatar now. hope the pic quality is pretty good. tried to go for unique but still looks kewl. the picture is set on the poop deck of me frigate (again) Mister Phes, you can't change yer awesome avatar, i think yours is second best. Besides, if you change it, then i would never recognize you:P.
-
hey i consider it a compliment if my lego ideas are taken, then that means i did a good job of makin it :-D about the ship-of-the-line strategies, they could use grappeling hooks to get to the back of the upper decks (or lower decks' windows i suppose) Besides these are super elite pirates, they're good at sneaky attacks and taking on a whole ship-of-the-line. It's their specialty.
-
ZCerberus that's a flippin sweet moc dude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it's got white, yellow, imperials... LUCKY!!
-
i'd only call it a brig if you added that other mast. it may be called a square-rigged sloop or something if you keep only the one mast on. a frigate would usually have three masts with at least 20 cannon. Hey sting your stategy for this ship might be to sail to the stern side of a ship-of-the-line and blow away its rudder. Then use grape and chain shot to kill as much of the crew possible with minimal damage to the ship. here's a blurry pic 8-o of one of my railing mounted cannons. i've changed the barrel to drk grey but you'd probably want to have yours black thank you mr tiber and sting for the info on the torso
-
Sting *sweet* This one is by far my favorite. it's a very unique and kewl. i still have yet to figure out where that torso came from. I think mine is the worst. but i haven't made any time to make a better one and im still pretty new @ eurobricks Hey Mister Phes, shouldn't this thread be in the Lego Pirate directory not the MOC's one?
