  1. Well the renovation of the bow is almost done by having both anchors be raised and lowered individually with one capstan. Then the main structure between the bow and stern is almost complete on the exterior. I have yet to renovate the stern to fit the center section with the added deck, but will work on it once the bow and center are (semi-)complete. Phred
  2. that's great news. Maybe now maybe TLC will make a failed attempt at pirate quatro like norro may have suggested Phred
  3. No it wasn't, Brian said. He got a ton of pics off the internet and just started building.
  4. Nice MOC, Stern castle is really square, but otherwise it's great. I really like the figurehead. Very creative indeed. Phred
  5. Wow! 8-o I wish i could've made ships like that when i was 13!! Wow. I like the idea for a ship. There aren't that many vessels out there with the steam paddle-wheel and sail combo. Unless i'm mistaken, I think Kurt in this thread is the only other person to have an older steam ship on EB. Phred
  6. Hello all, I did a search and didn't find this superb ship posted on EB. So i figure i could post it. This is a Fletcher class WWII destroyer called the USS Heerman (as you can tell by the thread title). A friend of mine, Brian, is finishing up this MOC. The interior is not done yet, but most of the exterior is. The actual USS Heerman. The lego model. It's about seven feet long right now. As you can see, the table is too small for the ship. 8-| Close up of the Bridge area. Some of the other pics are too big to post on here so i'll give the links for the 2 websites it can be found at: The BS folder: The MOCpages site:
  7. Obsessive? Crazy? :S Maybe a little. :-$ I like to see how others build larger ships. It can be challenging to build 2 deckers with 16 wide hulls. It's not often they don't look tipsy. And this one does a descant job of doing that. If it's a good MOC, then make another thread about it. If ppl get bored of all the BS finds, then don't post or go to them. (I mean that the nicest way possible oo7 :) ) I don't know, I just go with the flow really. LOL! :-D Sounds like B has been spending too much time @ FBTB. Nice work you two *y* :) . It looks like a BSB on steroids and miracle grow. Welcome to Eurobricks. Phred
  8. Thanx Asuka, I like the new German Black Rider better too. Still haven't got any black pistols off BL for the black riders. I probably will once i make my first BL order. Phred
  9. Dude those chrome helmets are expensive! I'm too cheap to buy them. Gotta wait until i'm done with college and work as an engineer. Then i'll get some of them.
  10. Well I made another AOE3 unit. The organ gun: I managed to get 6 "barrels" down to only 4 studs wide with the binoculars. Dunno about the colors, but i like how it turned out. I made a slightly different version of the German Black Rider. Though i don't know if they're any better than the previous version.
  11. Oh I see. That's why it has larger wheels. Got any pics?
  12. Hey Z, how did you mount the wheels onto the bottom? ya got any different moc cannons? Phred
  13. Mr. Tiber, How many cannon do you plan on having on the HMS Unclaimable? Phred
  14. LOL :-D Only if your vessel is showing its surrender flag.:'-) Edit: I look forward to battle with you in the high seas. Arrr! X-D Though we may have to look into settling this diplomatically. I mean, getting into a war over 3 or 4 studs between cannon is a little trivial. Well i suppose most wars start over such trivial matters. |-/ Though, i be not backing away from a fight. :skel1: BTW That would be a sweet broad side. I look forward seeing the completed MOC. Phred
  15. well 5 if you count a swivel chaser on the bow. X-D Most of the MF's don't even have head gear too. Definetly made for gaming and not for display. Edit: To start off, I think the mass of the ship w/o cannon and crew should be the hit points or hull factor. Reason being is that if a MOC is made with more bricks per length than others, it should have a higher hull factor. I think having 3 studs between cannon is fine :-| . Phred
  16. I don't like that rule either. I would say forget about that rule concerning the much larger MOCs. Here's another lego pirate game i found. It's called Dread Stephen's LEGO
  17. Don't worry B, I won't ever complain about not having enough firepower if i met your's or Mr. Tiber's ships in battle.
  18. Well it's a good thing you two aren't land lubbers, Otherwise i'd have to slit your throats. X-D Phred
  19. Sorry B, I can't agree with you on that one. I think 4 studs should be the closest, especially if the non-moc cannons are being used. If larger MOC cannons are being used, then 5-6 studs between gun ports. Nothing personal here too. :)
  20. I know, I just get bricks on PaB that are cheaper or close to the same price. I only buy from online PaB when i'm purchasing a set online to maximize the bricks i get with the current shipping cost. For instance, i wanted a $10 lego set and it's $5 shipping. Anything under $25 is $5 shipping so i get $15 worth at PaB.
  21. i just thought the chasers on the bow were called runners. i'll edit my post Edit: If it were a Corvette, wouldn't it have to be a french vessel then? dito X-D
  22. BrickMiner, I'm sure you've been to this site already. But just in case, Lego also has PaB online with a lot more unique elements than what is usually found at a Lego store's PaB. online PaB: About using BL, I've never used it. Just use what i've got most of the time. Though, I'll probably be purchasing Imperials on there soon. Phred
  23. Bonaparte, I suggest trying Mr. Tiber's suggestion before adding another hull section. The way it looks right now you could move some ports to the bow and maybe have a couple of runners (edit: i.e. chasers on the bow i think) too. Could try 2x3 wedges to ease the transition of the gun ports going one stud inward in the bow and stern. They're 3 studs long too, just the length you might need. Phred
  24. O-I-C I was sure it was done by a "higher power"; I didn't think I made a new thread. I know what you mean. You get really far on your ship, thinking it's all good, then you decide you don't like a certain aspect of the design that requires major rebuilding. That's happened to me 4 times of remaking major portions of me frigate. That's fine Mr. Phes (I keep on almost typing Mr. Phred :-|| ). :) I just wanted to make sure i wasn't going crazy (yet). Been really busy now that school's started up again. Edit: LOL :-D
  25. That's fine then, I'm just really biased in favor of CC when it come to castley type sets.
