That's a very interesting way to make your bow 007. I'd like to try something like that on a future model. I'll have to go check out your BS folder to see if there are any better pics of the bow. P Edit: I found a pic X-D 007, what type of pieces were used for the bottom of the ship?

Hey Mr. Phes, You have any updates on the final design for your sentry box? I changed mine a little so that there's a magnetic lego brick on the back. When i got the 2x4 magnetic bricks, i was surprised at how strong the magnets are. *y* That one magnetic brick easily holds up the sentry box on the cabinet door, even when you open and close the door. P

I'm not sure if the Acheron was an exact copy, i just know the design of the archeron was based on the uss constitution (since they were both 44 gun frigates). I'd be very interested to know if anybody knows where a picture is of an actual French-44. I can't seem to find one online or in any of my brother's books. I've read in my brother's books that the French-44's and 36's were very well built, fast, and formidable frigates. P

Who are all the Pirate Lego fans on this board?
Capn Frank replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
Yeah same here, college homework keeps me away from my wonderful legos quite a bit >:-( Maybe that'll be a different story this summer :) P -
Eek! Not a trap! I suppose with all them vessels around your harbor too, i should just remain a nuisance well out of range of this fort. I think it's fine that the armory is getting over shadowed by the new fort portion (which is looking flippin sweet!! BTW). Maybe make your armory smaller, or less elegant so it looks like it should be overshadowed by the new fort. P

Look what I just got - Report your latest Pirate LEGO acquisitions
Capn Frank replied to V()()D()()'s topic in LEGO Pirates
Why thank you Cutlass Cole for the comments on my frigate *sad* just to let you know, i've been collecting lego longer than you've been alive mate (20 years now). That's why i've got so many bricks. So please settle down. P -
Yeah flushed deck, that's the word i was looking for. Here's a couple of link pics of a model of the USS Constitution's flushed deck (thanx Mr. Tiber ;-) ): P
-
This new addition is looking quite impressive compared to the old section *y* Hopefully my frigate can still over power your harbor still >8-) P

Nice little fort couple of quick questions, what are the red and blue flags for? (windows maybe) what kind of ideas have you got for small cannons? P
-
With the HMS i'm guessing it's going to be english, correct? Looks very clean with 4 studs between cannons. with those 2 brick high sloped bricks. Are you going to keep the 4 studs between gun ports? You should try the 2x3 or 2x4 wedge bricks to smooth out the bow and stern areas on the side. Great lookin ship so far Mr. Tiber *y* P

well i don't think i'll add a poop deck (i.e. a partial deck over the captains quarters i'm pretty sure) since it's based loosely off of the archeron which is based off of the uss constitution, it won't have one. In the pics i've seen of the uss constitution, the top deck just goes across the top of the whole ship without a partial deck. (don't have any good pics but here's a rough one of the constitution) P

No problem B, I haven't had the oportunity to make your torsoe yet 8-| Sorry. Well, it could fit, but the RBR pieces are in the frigate X-D Nope only have one EF set 8-| It's a good thing it's a french ship then X-D So i guess you could say it was originally B's anywayz. P

Oh yeah, it's gonna have sails, but i'm gonna get the hull done first ;-) Dunno if i'm gonna have paper or cloth sails. I think i'm going for paper :-P I was wondering if someone would notice :-D The center section weighs between 30-45 pounds (sorry don't know the conversion to kg :S ) I chose the color scheme cause those are the colors i have. i'd love to make a great french vessel with red like bonaparte's L'Orient, someday i will. :) O.K. I got some of the command crew for my fleet all on my stern X-D and here's how far i am on the stern right now: P

That would be another MOC that my bro started that i may have to finish later. I think i'll make a thread on it soon, too focused on the Dame du Loup right now :) P
-
Well here's how far it is right now: Still have some gaps to fill in in the stern and finish the railing too. Here's a pic of the old stern, i thnk it's a pretty good improvement. P

what about other structures like small sheds or barns or something? P

What do we think of the MOC ships from Evil Stevie's Pirate Game
Capn Frank replied to Mister Phes's topic in Pirate MOCs
We don't know of any pirate fans nearby. 8-| Although we are looking for ways to have a pirate game online. But that's way down the line. Probably in a year or two. Depending on how much time i have. The rules aren't close to being done right now so we'd need to finish them before getting them online :) P -
Wow 8-o Now that looks good Z. I'm really looking forward to the fininshed product. *sweet* It looks really kool so far. Are you just going to use non-MOC cannons in this beast? P
-
Thanx Tedbeard *y* Got it in there. That's a nice mortor :) Too bad i don't have a working train 8-| P
-
Yeah i supposes the similarities are striking :-P According to wiki-pedia, a 4th rate ship has 50-60 long guns (not including carronades) and a 5th rate ship has 32-44 long guns (dunno about 45-49 guns :S ). This frigate is slightly larger than the HMS Surprise for a mini-fig scaled ship. I'm considering it a french 44 originally even though it's a little small for that. The USS Constitiution, a 44 gun frigate and what the archeron is based off of, would have to be 8 studs wider and 20 studs longer than this ship to have the proper scale, but oh well :) . When the pirates took it over, they decided to add some more long guns and carronades. The gun deck can hold 38 cannon. Total, while the pirates have it, there's going to be 70 cannon total; 16 carrondades, 34 non-moc cannons, and 20 moc cannons. P Edit: LOL :-D

What do we think of the MOC ships from Evil Stevie's Pirate Game
Capn Frank replied to Mister Phes's topic in Pirate MOCs
My brother and i are in the process of recreating rules for pirate gaming, although it'll probably be a lot different cause of the use of excell and laptops for all the calculations and tabulations instead of using a written paper ;-) We both live in platteville, WI. His 150-175 cannons, and almost 500 troops verses my 75-100 cannons and 180ish troops. But he doesn't have enough ships built to hold many of his men. We crunched some numbers and realized that if i only used the Dame du Loup, it would be very difficult for his 12 smaller vessels (which are almost all non-MOC ships) to take it out. There are a lot of drinkers on the pirate forum :-D Don't drink too much during your vacation. X-D -
I'm pretty sure is was 1990 was introduced in castle in 2 sets, so it was the very next year started to "invade" CC also. P

This is a good idea for a MOC Athos. I like the tan base plates with green landscaping plates. My favorite house is the one on the bottom right of this pic: I like the use of the flower stems on the two roofs. Gives it a lot more realism. Good job. P

lots of great detail for such a small moc *y* as mentioned before, the coloring is great I also like how all the MF's are made and how they compliment the MOC very nicely. I'm impressed. P
