Thanx for the compliments B & Z :) I thought it was close to realistic before, then Z pointed out the back two are really close together. Then the riggings for each mast almost touched and realized the error in my ways ;-) But now i can have 4 more cannons on it *y* More rigging, about a third of the interior on the berth/storage deck Sure i can take closer pics of the rigging when i'm done with it. Don't want to take any now cause i might change my mind. :-$ The rope is just cheap tan crochet thread from wal-mart :-D Same string on the Xebec P
-
Not a problem at all B. :) Well i've got a lot of the rigging done and where the sails are going to be put on. Also, i wanted to compare how big the DDW is compared to another ship that most of you probably have: (Sorry that the pics are a little blury :-/ ) I've got the mizzen mast and main mast further apart now (thanx Z). I could only lengthen the ship in intervals of 6 studs (so i wouldn't have to move any gun ports), and this seems to look the best. P

Maybe someone should post pics of all the options... ...like me X-D [Edit: pics got moved to the first post] My favorite is the Lagoon Lockup, although Imperial Outpost has a close second. P Edit: I deleted the pics on this post to save space.

Introducing Cutlass Cole and his creation!
Capn Frank replied to Cutlass Cole's topic in Pirate MOCs
Hey CC, Sorry about not posting earlier. Discussion about particular MOCs is supposed to be done in Pirate Lego MOCs part of the forum. So i've been anticipating a new thread to be made there when you've got some pics online to post. Do you have a brickshelf account to upload the pics onto the internet? If you'd like pics of decks, check out the INDEX of MOC Ships. That's where all the completed MOC ships are placed so that others can look at them for inspiration. P -
You have any pics of any of these ships? You've got the interceptor and an international hospital ship. I hope you post pics soon. P

My escort frigate (yes probably not an accurate description)
Capn Frank replied to Admiral_Wig's topic in Pirate MOCs
What's the criteria needed for a review? My bro has a BSB sitting at his house and thinks it's a good idea to do a review. P -
It is availible in white at brick link. Then nobody has to paint any bricks. ;-) Can get a couple out of the UK for 0.45 USD each. P
-
Is this the piece you were talking about (it helps to have pic *y* ): If it is, it would probably be good for B's governor's mansion. ;-) P
-
You should make a progress thread on the Interceptor mate *y* ;-) It'd be easier to see what you're talking about too X-D

Hey Duke, Since you're in class right now and i have class when you're done, I'll post these suggestions. The ship looks pretty cool so far *y*. Some suggestions to streamline it maybe; that is if you're going for a more 18th and early 19th century look. Number 1: Try having an odd amount of windows in the back, so that all the windows have 1 stud between them. Number 2: Try moving the 2 windows on each side back as far as you can and have only 1 stud between them. Number 3: Try lowering the windows as low as you can and have the captain's room with a 6 brick height at the most. See ya later, P

Wow-wie! Check out all these BSB-mocs in the last month! * ? * The BSB is so inspirational, someone should make a review on it :) I definitely won't be able to; both of my BSB's are being used in my DDW X-D . Hey admiral, do you have any more pics of this vessel to get a better idea what it looks like? P -
Here's mine on the Dame du Loup Need a nice little table for Mr. Tiber and Z to hang out and a bed for Evil Willy to take a nap. Behind Z is a desk with a map and things. P
-
Welcome back Legopirate! looking forward to more pics *y* :-$ Just a suggestion to consider for your rigging: Aaron Morse used the lego string with a stud on each side to make his rigging. Here's the BS pic: P

No i wasn't aware of the use of magnets on the ArtiterII X-O *y* It's a good idea though. Although most of my magnets are for my UCS ISD, and i don't want to use any of those pieces on it. :-$ I'll have to experiment and maybe BL magnets. P
-
Kool, so the Master Index Build has super powers too! 8-o Sweet! *y* Just a suggestion Tully: If i'm only going to give a online reply, I always put the quote (or part of the quote) right before my reply so ppl know right away what im talking about, especially the person i'm talking too. I see you're already doing it on some posts. Just need to do it more often i guess :-$ . P
-
Hey Duke, Those yellow framed windows look familiar X-O Did you take mine? I can't seem to find them anywhere X-D Nice look so far *y*. I hope you can tie everything together smoothly. It'll look suppurb then. You'll have to let me come over again and see it again. P
-
Hey B, Someone took your mail box 8-o Hopefully you weren't going to have it for you Governor's House :-D Are you going to keep the windows the same or change them to lattace? P
-
I'm assuming you are talking about when i mentioned this: With that assumption X-D : Sorry about the fate of my RBR mate. I didn't feel like spending lots on BL when i had almost all the bricks needed in my sets. ;-) Better hurry up Cutlass Cole with your attack. My frigate will be ready to sail this weekend probably X-D So you wouldn't want her to fight back. But right now you'd have to get through my Xebec, Islander Catamaran, Chinese Junk and Emporer's Ship, and the Armada Flagship. I like sequels. :) (but only if they're about as good as the first one ;-) ) Do you have a ship with really tall masts? You should make a thread if you do. The main mast is about 4 1/2 feet tall. Thank you very much for the compliments CC! P
-
Hey Z, Nice fort so far *y* I was wondering where you got the idea to use magnets for holding on roofs? The only set i've seen it done so far is the UCS ISD.

We should probably see how many Instructions are out there before putting them into groups. If we were to make a MOC Instruction index, this should be the discussion page, or the first person to post would have to make the index similar to the MOC islander index. or something along those lines. I'm guessing there aren't too many instructions out there for ppl's mocs. The only one i know of is Kurt's Black Pearlite MOC. Although i could be wrong :-$ . So it would probably make more sense to have a setup similar to the MOC Islander Index. Is it possible to change the order of the posts on a thread to have whoever is going to maintain this index as the first post? P

In models of ships, there is a stand that holds the entire ship; i was thinking of having something like this when it's being displayed. For gaming, I was thinking to have the decks below the waterline removable from the decks above the waterline; that way it has a flat bottom and it's easier to roleplay. Maybe have a little (well probably not so little :) ) wheeled cart thingy to slide along the floor. I really like the idea of wheels on the bottom of larger MOCs; it's a lot easier to move them around and work on them when building it too ;-) . P

PICTORIAL REVIEW: 6274 Caribbean Clipper
Capn Frank replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Pirates
5/5 Granted i don't like the rigging *n* , but it does come with a lot of good pieces *y* . Things that i really like that it comes w/ include: Yellow bird! 4 blue imperials *y* (one of which is an admiral) the two flags and the 3 sails 2 cannon. I think this is really good being that it's almost the first pirate ship TLG ever made. P -
Great find The Ecstatic Admiral *y* That's why i go to thrift shops at least weekly and flea markets to see if i can find such deals. Granted i have yet to get nearly as much pirate elements as you have gotten. But i have gotten about 2 gallons so far from thrift shops spending well under 10 USD total. P

Talked to a Chem. Prof. @ school today he said that the prominent color of copper corroded in the sea is going to be copper(II) carbonate. copper(II) carbonate is a light green color with a bluish tint; here's a pic of it below: other copper salts have the color of light green and light blue. he also said there aren't any red or reddish-brown copper salts. his best guess for the reddish-brown color, would be from algae (and dead algae) or there is zinc, iron, or another metal alloyed with the copper clamps and wire that Tordenskjold found. I'm just trying to figure out color ships would be under the waterline sheathed with copper and what official brick color would best represent these colors. ;-) P

what is the least favorite game you have ever played?
Capn Frank replied to casewindu's topic in Culture & Multimedia
any sports game. :-X Professional sporting events are very boring to me, especially on TV *n* So making a game about them is definitely not going to hold any interest to me. But i love playing sports and sometimes going to jr. high to high school games. But i usually just talk to friends and family at those sporting events X-D P
