making LDD design a reality
Calabar replied to Herky's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
LDD provide a list of bricks when you generate the building instructions. If you want to buy bricks using bricklink circuit, you can use LDD Manager that extract the list from the lxf file and convert it for bricklink. -
@Danver I removed images of missing parts. (You can find rules about images in the first post of this topic) Missing parts has been replaced with... ? About sharing the LXF file, it would be better to use a direct link: it helps the indexer in his work. You need a file hosting service that allows hotlinks, such as Brickshelf.

Hi Danver, and welcome in the LDD Official set topic. The post is very good (maybe a better crop for the image, but it is good enough), you should only add a list of error and inaccuracies. PS: the set has an alternative set's number: 381-2. It would be good to report it, for index purpose.

Ahhhh blasphemy! Jokes aside, I'm not a fan of disfiguring original LEGO bricks! Anyway the problem is more related to the use of LDD than real bricks. And in LDD you can't cut a part! Another suggestion could be to use the part 4081 to connect the cone and the slope. It is a bit weak and add a 1x1 plate to the model as a sort of crest, but it should work.
-
You are true, I never noticed that. As the shape of the bricks is the same, I thought the pin would connect in the same way. The 4 holes on the brick 4733 make the difference instead, because allow the pin to expand and clip. @kpstormie In your case you could use the half pin, in its short side it connect fine to the anti-stud of the brick 3005 (or 3665 in this case). EDIT: ... Or maybe you cant, because you need the axle shape pin to connect it to the cone.
-
This connection is not recognized by LDD, but it is possible to place the pin using a scaffolding. Take a look, for example, at my official set 5928 - Bi-Wing Baron (the connection of the propeller). The parts will result not connected, so you have to pay attention when you move the built. If you have difficulties to place it, please share the lxf file so that we can place it for you.

[Software] MecaBricks - Online Design Tool
Calabar replied to Scrubs's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I saw on brickset that Mecabricks has been included in the set's database. That's really great! Maybe this could give a great push about creating official models using Mecabricks. The main problem in this context could be the miss of specific parts, especially decorated ones. Create these parts could be too heavy for a single person (you!), and maybe the importing from LDRAW parts could be very helpful. But maybe the best way would be to promote and explain how other willing users could create parts, so that you should validate them only. -
Bullets in LDD
Calabar replied to tchuk-norst's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
It is not clear for me what do you mean with "easy-to-use connection point". Usually all bricks have studs, anti-studs or pin that allow an easy connection. Besides, if you think to place missiles suspended on the air, why you need a connection? -
[Software] MecaBricks - Online Design Tool
Calabar replied to Scrubs's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Oh, what a pity! I hope you will add the touch interface soon. PS: is there a technical reason why you choose to use iframes to integrate your player? Iframes are considered unsure and deprecated. PPS: does the Mecabricks site offers a gallery that uses your embedded player, so that it is possible to exploere models from a mobile device? -

Maybe it means you have worked on a touch friendly interface? That would be a very good news! -
Most wanted bricks for next LDD update
Calabar replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
In the first one I recognize the elephant tail part 43892. The second seems to be a mask for green goblin minifigure (spiderman licensed theme) The third raises some doubts to me too (EDIT: it is Jun-Chi from adventures theme: click). The white thing is the old Yeti from adventures theme. It would be useful to have parts ID to identify pieces! Maybe we should ask for a specific scheme to request pieces. -

Hi murmillo, and welcome at Eurobricks. Did you tried the suggestions proposed in the first post? Anyway, looking at the brickset inventory of the lego WeDo set, the parts you linked are not present. As that inventory has been retrieved directly from LEGO site these parts are not there, and that means that probably you can't find that in LDD too.

What may be posted / not be posted
Calabar replied to thehuuf's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Maybe the point 6 (Automatic collision fixer) is feasible, it could require only the reading and the modify of the lxf file. Anyway, don't worry if some of the functionalities of your software are already covered by an already existing software. An alternative is ever welcome. -
@ms_g_tx Maybe the rules are verbose, but I think that are very clear about this point. Quoting from the rules: "The Set have to contain something you can build. Sets with scattered parts or single minifigures are not allowed". You have to use a file sharing service that allow direct link. As you can notice, the most used here is brickshelf, that allow you to share both images and lxf files. Then you can link images and files inside a post using the proper tools of this forum. You can easily create inventories using LDD Manager. You are probably true, there is not another indexed place where to post inventories made in LDD, but surely it is not this topic. You could try to start another topic if you want, but it would be very limited, because for all other sets you can take files from this topic and easily create a custom brick palette. you told: "Sorry if y'all already had this debate..." Don't worry, I can understand the problem. And probably it is the first time a user ask about that.

Hi ms_g_tx, and welcome in the LDD Official Sets topic. As the rules stated, sets with spared parts are not allowed here. Entries have to be builds, not inventories. Besides, only one image is allowed and the use of attachment function of the forum is deprecated. You can find all the rules of the topic in the first page.
