Thanks, now it is the correct file! Two little things: - If the database is necessary, why don't create a zip file containing both the .db and the .jar file to download? Some unexperienced user could have difficulties to manage this lack in the main download. - At startup, the software inform me that the complete.zip file is missing. It is possible to start the software, anyway.
-
Hi Mario, I Downloaded the jar, but a "BrickMosaic" software opens. Do I miss something or is it the wrong file?
-
The idea of legolijntje is good. The database changes continuously, include it in the software would no be useful. A button to download the database would allow an updated database and go round the problem of the bricklink ToS. About "rare objects", maybe the best way would be to make them optional unless the uses select some kind of "I want it absolutely", or a "give it hight priority" flag. Maybe all the request could be managed using a (manual) "priority" system, where I assign a priority value to my parts. Besides I think that the user should have the number of results he requested, regardless of the fact that all the parts has been retrieved or not. If I request 5 results, I will obtain the best five results even if no one of that will completely satisfy my wantedlist(s). Another useful thing would be to manage alternate parts. For example I could need a brick and there are two suitable colours (a black chain, or a dark gray one), or I could need a brick that has some similar alternatives that are good for me too (a 6x6 dish 44375 or 44375b is the same for me), or I need a part in a rare colour but I can but I can settle for to buy one of a similar colour (a dark red angular 3x3 slope could be good in red too).

[Software] MecaBricks - Online Design Tool
Calabar replied to Scrubs's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Hi Scrubs, a pair of fast questions: will be possible to choose a size for the objects in the lower panel (where bricks are displayed) . will be possible to temporarily pep up (with a slide up?) the lower panel so that more objects will be displayed? The panel would collapse again in a single row when you choose a brick to insert in the scene. is the new UI tought for touchscreen devices too? -
@TheLegoExpert Very strange, in the index I can see the B and the C model of the 8070 but not the main model. You could open a request in the "Book, WIP, Requests" topic.

@dekkino I checked my archive, unfortunately I haven't a copy of the file. You should ask to the user who made the modified version, Superkalle (but you need to reach the ten message limit to use private messages). Otherwise you can download the standard version of the set and modify the colours by yourself (it should not be too difficult).

Hi Cyberbricker, welcome in the LDD Official Sets topic. For you the same recommendations I gave here to another user (except the size of the subject that is fine, you only have to crop the image). You can find all the rules of the topic in the first page (please read that!).

Hi ThorsHammer9999, welcome in the LDD Official Sets topic. As you can see, each set is inserted in this topic following specific rules, that you can find in the first page of this topic. You can look at other regular entries in the last pages, as example. Avoid using the attachment function of the forum for images and lxf files, but use an external file hosting service. I suggest you BrickShelf or BrickSafe, LEGO related services that allows hotlink.

@b-ran Did you tried it in compatibility mode? It seems that mdoupe has few time for his software in this period, and probably he will use it for bug fix and main functions. Anyway I want to propose a typical situation for me, where I'd like to be assisted by a software such as Brickficiency. The main problem of Bricklink is that is very difficult to order all the parts you need from a single vendor. So often I try to make orders together with other two or three friends. The idea is that everyone has his own list(s) and look for the best vendor for his list. Then look at other lists and take from this vendor all the available parts of these lists (the lists of the friends), obviously avoiding duplicates. A sort of crisscross buying with priority. So, if we are three buyers, we have good chances to get a good part of the list from 3 vendors, with only one shipping for each one and with more chances to reach the "minimum buy" threshold. It would be great if Brickficiency would be able to manage this situation. It should detect some good vendors for each buyer and then try assign to each one all the parts from the other lists that has not been found in the relative "main" lists.

Frankly, I hate this kind of speculation. And I've to say that I hate it even more because sometimes I was tempted from it! The secondary market can be a good thing when it it not "sick", because it allows to everyone to get some old sets that are not in production anymore. But in the case of the LEGO one, I think it is a bit sick. I agree with the user above that told that the only way to curb the problem is to re-release old sets, but don't seems that LEGO want to take this route. LEGO has a great value now, and I think that prices are becoming too hight. The main problem is that this phenomenon damage all the simple LEGO buyers: When there is an offer, often it is very difficult to take advantage of it because "investors" buy great quantity of discounted sets in order to earn reselling that after a certain amount of time. There "investors" take artificially hight the price of sets in the second hand market: they prefer push up the price even when there is not much to earn for them, so that people have many difficulties to buy sets at an honest price (typically on auction sites such as ebay). Many lego fan, especially recent ones, get accustomed to hight prices so that consider a good purchase to buy a set with a price that is a little bit lower than usual (but madly high price, anyway). I hope that people such these will understand the great damage that they create agreeing to buy sets at this conditions and stop to do that... but I know, it is impossible.

It would be better if you stated a budget range! If you want an huge set that you can find with a "human" price yet, you could propose the 10188 Death Star. If you prefer an old set, the suggested futuron 6990 Monorail is surely a great choice, together with the blacktron 6987 Message Intercept (less valuable, anyway) base or, if you prefer vintage, an old classic space or castle set, such as 6971, 375/6075, etc... There are many recent castle sets that are very good too, for example the 10193 market village, the 10223 Kingdoms Joust. I like the 7029 very much, too. Moving to pirate there, the Imperial Flagship 10210 is a fantastic set. Or modular buildings. Returning on licensed sets, the latest Harry Potter Hogwarts castle is a great piece (but I fear that now you can find it very overpriced), the 10236 Ewok Village, the 10237 Tower of Orthanc. But, in the end, the choice depends on your taste.

Hi GeneralLego, welcome in the LDD official set topic. You entries need a bit of rehash to be regular: Images are oversized and not cropped. Maximum allowed size is 512x pixel, but it is reserved for big sets. In you case I suggest you no more than 256x pixel for the first two entries and something more for the third (after you crop that!). Attachment function of the forum is not much adequate for the lxf files. I suggest you to use one of the LEGO related hosting services: BrickShelf or BrickSafe. Use that for both image and lxf file. All the rules of this thread are reported in the first page, here.

Where did you get the ids? Are they bricklink's id? Or LEGO ids? Or what? I made a fast search for some of these elements and I didn't find any reference.

Serious question about Lego flowers
Calabar replied to BirdOPrey5's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Stud down for me too. Maybe because when I placed flowers on the floor, the stud fit fine among baseplate studs. @dr_spock Great... one of my childhood sets! But I placed the flowers with stud down, anyway! -
If you use the "Hide Tool", on the top right appears a "Show All" button. It is possible to hide groups separately (click on the group and then on the Hide Tool), but it is not possible to show groups separately. Unfortunately LDD Instructions are not the state of the art. There are anyway some techniques you can try to apply. Take a look at the Section Index here. It is simply a way to group parts. It is useful during the building stage (you can easily select and move parts of your model) and to explore a finished model. For example, in a modular building, you can create a top level group for each floor, and subgroups for furniture or movable elements such as a lift.

Next to Turin there is Ars Ludica too. You could buy online and retire in the shop, because online price list is usually better. Anyway Europe is not a good place where to buy LEGO, prices are usually much worse compared to USA ones, because of a terrible USD/EURO price conversion. I think LEGO has a bad politics about this.

Hi DawnTreader, and welcome in the LDD official set topic. Your post is almost regular, you only have to fix few things: Image is too big, the maximum size allowed here is 512x512 pixel (but this size is only for big sets). As the set is very small, I suggest you to don't get over 256x pixel. The image is not cropped. You hae to remove blank borders around the subject. Don't use the attachment function of the forum to share the lxf file. I suggest you to use one of the LEGO related hosting services: BrickShelf or BrickSafe. Use that for both image and lxf file. I suggest you to use original PNG image instead than a converted JPG. In general, read carefully the rules in the first post of this topic. If you want to provide a better quality screenshot for your set, you can read the suggestions of this guide.
