  1. Hello, This is my first post. I built Wing Body Truck seven months ago. Then I knew that many people wants building instructions. Now it is available. Sorry for late, because I've worked alone! Total 4126 pcs. The weight of Truck is 4600g (with 6x Eneloop batteries).
  2. Hello everyone! Thanks to the purple Titanian, it took 18 months for coming back from yet another dark age in my life. Now I am here with yet another pickup truck. Design was inspired by Ford Raptor, Dodge Ram and GMC Sierra. Dacoma 4x4 Redux Weight: 1360g -Powered by Sbrick -2 L motors for propulsion -Servo motor for steering -M motor for two speed gearbox, (sort of) limited-slip center differential and lockable rear differential -LED for headlights -Openable hood,doors and tailgate Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMUH1YmF1F4&t=1s This is an improved version of my Dacoma pickup truck and TLC 80. I could not finish building instructions for them because they had fatal drawbacks on their drivetrain. In low gear, bevel gears in center differential often skip and pop out by the torque of propulsion motors. To make it reliable, it was necessary to reduce the stress on center diff while handling higher torque in low gear. The gearbox works sequentially. (1 - 2 - 3 - 2 - 1) 1: High - 2: Low - 3: Low with rear diff lock In low gear, center diff works like limited-slip diff. In high gear, two L motors are coupled and rotate center differential together. Front and rear axles are driven via open center diff. In low gear, only one L motor rotates center diff. Another motor is connected only to rear axle. (In other words, it just supports rear half of drivetrain.) Which means rear half of axle in center diff is (nearly) locked. That means front half of axle in center diff is locked as well. Maximum suspension travel is not as long as older Dacoma truck. But new one articulates better thanks to softer front suspension. Years ago I happened to get some rare blue parts from old sets. So I could build it in blue. With a few tweaks, it can be built in white, orange or black.   3. Hello everybody! It has been a while since I posted a picture of two MOCs. In November 2016, I took those models and red Avtoros Shaman to Russia for participating in Lego event held in Moscow. It was an amazing trip. (You can see many pictures of the event on that topic.) When I drove two models in the event, I found that each one had some problems on their chassis. So I started to fix them after coming back to Japan. It took too many hours to finish despite of minor modifications. The reason was that I happened to come up with another 4x4 idea during the work. (I will take a month to finish it...) Anyway, I introduce two MOCs that helped me a lot to communicate with Russian builders. AWD Pickup "Dacoma" -Weight: 1090g -2x L motors for 4x4 driving with three differentials -Servo motor for steering -Two speed gearbox (manual) -Lockable center and rear differential (manual) -LED for headlights -Openable hood, doors with lock, tailgate The design was inspired by Toyota Tacoma. Also the strange name is an anagram of Madoca. It has independent suspension on front axle like many real pickup trucks do. I used hard shock absorbers on it because soft ones could not hold the weight even using two for each side. (There is the space left for extra shocks.) As a result, front suspension became a little bit too hard. The articulation of axles is mostly realized by softer rear suspension. The model was made to go over obstacles on tough trial course in the event. In some situation, locked rear differential helped it to avoid from getting stuck. But it really suffered from low ground clearance and small articulation. And the torque of geared down hard-coupled L motors damaged bevel gears in central diff. I concluded that it could be a decent off roader, but never be a crawler. I am making instructions. It will be available on Rebrickable. Hatchback Type R -Weight: 600g -L motor for propulsion -Servo motor for steering -LED for headlights -Front axle has positive caster angle -Openable hood and roof This small RWD Hatchback was made for speed racing of small cars. For propulsion, only one L motor was allowed to use by the regulation. The output is geared up 1:3 and meshed with old type differential gear. It is fun to drive on large and flat surface. I set front axle at positive caster angle for better straight line stability. But in real life, it did not work well. On the narrow race track, I could barely keep the model running straight. It had noticeable backlash on steering. Besides, controlling fast car via touch panel of smartphone was not easy. Although I fully enjoyed the race, my driving skill surely seemed shockingly bad to Russian builders! Building instructions available at Rebrickable!
  4. Hello everyone, My new creation is a big Tatra. It is my first 8x8. All problems of size, weight, friction and powertrain were the most challenging for me. Total weight: 2790g 2 hard coupled XL motors for 8 wheel drive without differentials. They are connected to each output of V2 receiver #2, powered by 8878 battery of left side. (Motors of the rest are connected to V2 #1, powered by 8878 of right side) 1st and 2nd axle are steered in different angles by 2 L motors. M motor for 2 speed heavy duty gearbox. 9:1 (high) 25:1 (low) Working steering wheel and V12 engine. Openable hood and doors. External roll cage and LED lights are easily removable. This is my suspension setup. The central axle is free from the friction by the force of suspension movement. Each 6.5L springs limit the angle of swinging half-axles. In these limited angles, bevel gears smoothly engage. Since the building process was complicated, I haven't made instructions yet. Hopefully it will be available in a few weeks. I drove it in high gear in most part of the video. Despite heavy weight, not a single gear was damaged. In low gear, it is surprisingly powerful.   5. Hello everyone! It's been a long time since I posted last creation. For the past few months, I've had difficult life situation. I was away from any LEGO-related activities. I did not build new MOCs. I abandoned all WIP projects and just built a wall around myself... I am so sorry, Jantjeuh and rm8. I deeply apologize for having troubled you! In March, I started walking slowly. Soon I recognized that I had to work hard to get back Madoca into my mind. Here are the results. I built two MOCs. Honestly they are mechanically simple and have nothing innovative. Instead, I aimed to achieve both playability and detailed look. I hope you will like them. Please give me a chance for resurrection. Do you think which actual SUV looks similar to this MOC? I used dozens of newer parts (mostly pins) which were released in 2014 and 2015. So it can be called AWD SUV 2015. Features: All-wheel drive and front wheel steering 2 L motors for propulsion, Servo motor for steering 2 pairs of LEDs for headlights and tail lights Independent suspension on all wheels Working steering wheel and V6 engine Openable hood, doors (with locking mechanism), tailgate, glove box and armrest box:) There are four 12t tan bevel gears on drivetrain. They all survived after two hours crawling. Like blue Buggy, this drivetrain didn't cause breaking gears. My concern was that 3L axles might slide into CV joints. Eventually all four 3L axles moved half-stud into CV joints. But they surprisingly kept holding each 12t black double bevel gears despite the connection became weaker. I thought it's OK because I didn't see any lack of torque or speed. You can see its performance in the video. If you want to avoid this axle movement, you need cutting parts and, A. using 3.5L axle. B. putting 0.5L axle (or flex axle, pneumatic hose, hard hose...) into CV joints. Blue Lightning Buggy It is my Buggy#3. The concept was simple: to build another buggy using different drivetrain from its predecessors. Configuration of motors is the same as Buggy#1 & #2. This time I adopted independent rear suspension. Then I tried to build efficient drivetrain which needed to be nearly the same as direct-drive (#2). Features: Rear wheel drive and front wheel steering 2 L motors for propulsion (one per each rear wheel), Servo motor for steering Long travel independent suspension on all wheels Front axle is placed at positive caster angle Working steering wheel In this setting, L motors never broke bevel gears. Now I want to know if powerful SBrick version would perform well without gear cracking.
  6. Hello everyone! My new creation is a big scale Baja Truck. For the first time, I used two SBricks for better control. Weight is 1920g. It is almost the same as gsia17's awesome Trophy Truck. Since I do not have RC buggy motor, I had to build it using PF motors. Honestly body color is not the best. I just have many red #3 connectors and wanted to use white 19L softaxles. I think it is easier to build it in all white. And using stickers will make it look better. (Though that's not my way:) This Truck is powered by two 8878 rechargeable battery boxes, and propelled by four L motors geared 1:1. Two for each side of rear wheel. Left side of drivetrain is connected to fake V8 engine. Steered by Servo motor, which is connected to steering wheel. Two pairs of LEDs are put behind the front lights. Adding more LED for roof light bar is possible. I tried to make suspension movement like real Trophy Truck. Front module including independent suspension is connected to main chassis at positive caster angle. Rear suspension is solid axle with long trailing arms. Front suspension travel is about 5 studs long, and rear is 7 studs. It was challenging to achieve proper driving speed on bumpy ground using PF motors. The result was not the best, but was acceptable to me. Sbricks did their job so well. As expected, some parts in drivetrain got worn. Especially knob wheels. While I was shooting the video for two hours, they did not affected driving performance. So far they just made noise which is heard in the video. But someday they will certainly be damaged too much and need to exchange. EDIT: I have fixed the problem of knob wheels.   7. Hello! Today I'm proudly present you my new MOD - 6x6 CUV, originally made by Madoca. His CUV impressed me so much when I built it, that I decided to build a modified version. Main targets was: impressive exterior, powerful drivetrain and different bodywork. Also I wanted it to have some serious off-road capabilities, so I decided to use larger wheels with custom tires. So final features is: - 6x6 drive - 4 L-motors (2 on each side) - 4 Li-Po BB (connected in parallel) - SBrick - Positive caster angle (front suspension) - Wheel reductors (3:1) and custom tires I tried to keep the original look, but front wheelarches was too small, so I replaced them with flex axles The rear part now looks completely different, it looks more like pickup. Special thanks to jorgeopesi for his wonderful fake engine idea!   9. Hello All I am pleased to anounce, that in 2015, OSUHARDING1 will be doing a double review of both these Tatra's in question. There could possibly be an offroad duel between both, which I am very excited for; this will be the ultimate duel. Both mocs are amazingly built, I couldn't take one over the other, nor the builders either. Madoca is famous for his attention to detail (he is the pagani of technic), and Zblj is famous for fufilling and utilising functions to the best of their ability (though it doesn't mean that madoca's use of functions are useless, nor does it mean that Zblj builds ugly mocs). Madoca's Tatra has the best attention to detail, and is extremely precise for every of its functions. The Fox may not be too pretty, but it goes like a train though terrain. The Fox has been proven to survive all terrains, it can drive on any terrain including snow, ice, foresty areas, sand and can tow a car. You can literally say that the Fox has been around the world. Zblj also quotes his Fox as the most powerful tatra EVER, but then it would be because it has 1 XL motor per wheel. It has 2 winches capable of pulling itself up, not to mention its 8 wheel steering which can vary from rear steering, front steering, crab steering and opposite motion steering. It can climb up a hill but starts to loose traction due to the combination of torque and high revs, its either one or the other in technic. Madoca's tatra, aaahhh its a joy to look at, and to play with. It is very technical, but more stable than the fox when climbing objects (the fox is a bit skiddy when tackling objects). Madoca's Tatra's stablity also means it can climb higher than the fox on steep hills; it doesn't slip its wheels when climbing. Madoca's mocs are also known for there effective suspension and he always shows each moc, climbing over a few bumps. Not to mention that the Tatra has the offroad pedigree of the SUV MKII and the Offroad pickup truck, which are also made by madoca. Performancewise we know that all of Madoca's offroad based mocs can go offroad, but we don't know what extreme offroad conditions his Tatra can survive. Like I said its difficult to pick between them. This is equal to the battle of the 918 spyder and p1, one is a no-compromise and the other one is. Zblj's Fox is the ultimate expression of what a technic tatra can perform upto, and Madoca's tatra is the expression of what a technic tatra should compromise. The fox is a no compromise all terrain vehicle, stripped of things Zblj thought it didn't need: no fake engine, no rear cover, no based looks, its like the p1. Whereas the tatra is compromised, it was designed to replicate a real tatra, his tatra was built like the 918 spyder. But turns out lighter than the Fox but slightly slower Zblj believes because of the gear ratio. Zblj's Fox is also indestructable and was designed to cope with just about anything, like a saab. This willl be a great duel. Here are some pictures of the 2 Tatra's in question.   10. When I saw Madoca's original beauty in an earlier thread I knew I had to build it. I simply adored the elegancy of its lines. I thought the red colour was kind of boring though (seems like all supercars have to be red), so I figured I'd build the car in black rather than red. I also thought the original interior was kind of sparse and I didn't like the PF wires being in full view, so I covered these up with an all-tan interior. For shits and giggles I also added a 'supercharger' I was kind of going for this look. So, a short list of what I changed/added: Full-black exterior instead of red, even replacing all the pins and axles by black ones Full-tan interior, covering up the PF wires Chrome silver wheels and 'hub caps' Chrome silver side exhausts Chrome silver 'supercharger' Miscellaneous other chrome silver detailing Improved switching mechanism for front lights to make it more reliable and make the front light pop up further Now, without further ado, some pictures: Many thanks to Aureliusz Falowski for his excellent chromed Technic parts!   11. Hello, Here is my first 6x6 model. 2L motors for driving, Servo motor for steering. Weight is 1180g. Motors and battery box are located on the middle of chassis. Front and rear suspensions are very soft. So, the Truck easily pitches up and down, climb over a certain level of obstacles. 3 differentials and 6 cv joints works pretty well, not broken or snapped at all in the video.
