The Greatest Collectible Minifigure THANKS AND GOODBYE

Come on you seasick landlubbers, get voting for the Sea Captain and he'll be cruising in to the next round!!!
  2. I still think the Hanna-Barbera suggestion seems most likely, seeing as we have already had Scooby Doo sets. 1) 'Bam-Bam' Rubble 2) Barney Rubble 3) Betty Rubble 4) Boo Boo Bear (from Yogi Bear) 5) Elroy Jetson & Astro 6) Fred Flintstone 7) George Jetson 8) Jane Jetson 9) Judy Jetson 10) Officer Dibble (from Top Cat) 11) Pebbles Flintstone 12) Ranger Smith (from Yogi Bear) 13) Rosie the Robot (from the Jetsons) 14) Top Cat (from Top Cat) 15) Wilma Flintstone 16) Yogi Bear (from Yogi Bear) Wish we could just go back to regular series though...

The Greatest Collectible Minifigure THANKS AND GOODBYE

Surely we can't allow the wildlife photographer to be beaten by plant monster guy? I know the figure itself isn't great but it contains a Lego penguin - A REAL LEGO PENGUIN!!! My 10 year old self is furious with all the plant monster voters...

    LEGO Ninjago 2017 Discussion

Thanks Lyichir, I hadn't seen the Juniors set as it wasn't listed under the Ninjago Movie sets on Brickset but in the Juniors category instead. Pretty clear from that it's the same as the fence piece - very nice! Now if only they'd produce more variations in window shapes and sizes.

Latest news about Lego animal moulds

I'll go with sheep and recoloured rabbit. Sadly though I can't really see many new animals appearing for some time. The most likely source of new animals is through collectible minifigs but it seems the next few series will be licensed or the costumed characters, which I feel may limit the chances of newly moulded accessories and characters with a corresponding animal (e.g. Australian & Koala or amazon Explorer & Toucan...). Plus this year's City sets have given us the Jungle theme so I'm not sure 2018 will see 'City' sets visit locations outside the City where more animals are likely as Lego seem reluctant to bring a zoo subtheme. Such a shame Lego doesn't produce a far wider range of animals - I'm really hoping for a sea lion, toucan, sloth, tortoise, koala, zebra, beaver, new elephant, flamingo, giraffe, hippo, capybara, kangaroo, lemur and rhino. There seems even less chance of getting a family of animals with male, female and young. Would love to see an annual set containing two or three new animals each time.

    LEGO Ninjago 2017 Discussion

Dull question perhaps but I liked the look of the fence parts included in the film trailer where the full dragon is shown and shortly after in a more close-up version as Lloyd battles various henchmen. I was consequently pleased to see this replicated and 'brick-built' in the Lego City 'Modular' set. It can be seen behind the picture showing a close-up of the Galidor shirt guy but also appears throughout the building in black. Is this a new part? Is it the same size as a standard fence piece or made from multiple parts, etc?

    CMF Series 18 guessing game!

Agreed. Costumed characters are nice as a one-off novelty figure in a regular series but are generally useless in terms of parts. It's a shame that this will count as a 'regular' series. Just stick to the usual mix - something for everyone.

    LEGO Ninjago 2017 Discussion

It's good that there are some parts that don't apply purely to Ninjago fans. The bowls and spoons are my favourite parts (hopefully knives and forks in the same colour to follow at some stage). So what are we expecting for the remaining 10 in tomorrow's reveal? Lloyd in ninja gear (shown on packet) Pink-haired girl (partly shown on packet) Zane? Cole? Kai? Another villain (octopus?) Bride from the trailer? Groom from the trailer? Another version of Garmadon? Cyrus Borg?

Where should the next People at the ____ take place?

Robert8's Carmen Miranda design makes me think Fun at the Carnival!!!

Where should the next People at the ____ take place?

I think a Fun in the Snow set makes the most sense as these sets do not really incorporate buildings. As much as I'd love proper zoo sets it would be more likely that there would be a bigger zoo subtheme. I would prefer a regular zoo set each year rather than just one and then nothing for 25 years! Come on Lego, how about reusing the Prince of Persia ostrich and camel for those of us who don't buy licensed sets?! Although there is no confirmation these sets will continue (the park set was very popular due to the new baby and wheelchair pieces, but reaction to the beach was less enthusiastic even though I like it), it would be good to have a three year cycle of park/beach/snow but these sets would need to have something unique each time to remain popular. Other options I'd like would be Fun at the Wedding (lots of smart outfits with new hats and nice dresses) or Fun at the Orchestra (with lots of musical instrument moulds).

2017 City Sets - Rumours and Discussion

I always assumed these were set in India, rather than South America as you don't find crocodiles in the Amazon (caiman only), although they are found further North in Costa Rica, etc. In addition, the word jungle has Indian roots (I would usually use the term rainforest when discussing Latin America). I think the spotted animal is also supposed to be a leopard rather than a jaguar and the temples have a more Indian style like in The Jungle Book. Not sure if you really get temples as such in the Amazon too - weren't the Incas more Andean and the Mayans/Olmecs more Mexican/Central American? I could be wrong of course. Perhaps we'll get some South American sets another time with a wider range of new animals rather than just the big cats, or at least some of the smaller Amazonian wildlife in collectible minifigure sets (like a sloth, toucan, capybara...). I am pleased to be getting a tiger though, although typically this comes in the largest set. Is the price on the label really £110??
  14. Sounds like we'll be getting two brick suits then - one red and one blue, with one of each gender. Disappointing to have an all costume series though. Don't get me wrong the costumed figures are great but I think a whole series is a bit overkill. They work well as a unique figure in each series but don't have a great deal of practical purpose I feel. Particularly annoying they will replace a regular series which usually provides enough variety for everyone.

Review: LEGO Town Paradisa Seaside Cabana (6401) from 1992

Thanks for the neat review - the guy doing pull-ups in one of the alternate builds pictured made me laugh! One of my favourite themes ever! Oh for a modern day (non-minidoll) Paradisa... Fancy hotels, villas with pools, beach front restaurants, a catamaran, speedboats open top sports cars and a tropical airport...

    Ideas for CMFs

Fantastic as always Robert8. Well played! I get almost as excited seeing you have created a new series as I do when new series are revealed but quickly feel sad when I realise they aren't going to be made!!!

I voted for the carpenter as the saw is a great accessory we hadn't had before. Good face, good colours and nice printed plank tile.

    CMF 17 Guessing Game Results

My word! I wasn't expecting this victory and consequently hadn't really prepared a speech. However, I'd like to thank Itaria for his role in setting up the game, the staff at Eurobricks for making it all possible, my fellow competitors for the fact their contributions were less accurate than my own, and my parents for raising me in a way that enabled me to make fortunate guesses on a forum for Lego enthusiasts... :-) Seriously though, the fact that none of us managed to predict many of the figures at all still shows the range of possibilities we still have to look forward to in future series. It's a shame that we will probably have to wait quite some time for another regular series, which I feel always offer something for everyone. In the meantime you should all take the opportunity to look at some of Robert8's concept figures and of course participate in the Series 18 guessing game thread!

2017 City Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Yes - it annoys me so much that parts like this get made for licensed themes and don't make an appearance (don't get me started on the Prince of Persia camel and ostrich!). We definitely need a clean version of what would be a great piece without the unnecessary 'Bat' branding but you wonder if Lego will bother, given that it wasn't included in FTAB - a set surely made for such a piece. Having said that, it's nice that City fans are at least being treated to some novel sets this year. Finally new animal moulds and some good civilian sets. As a huge City fan I really have bought very few City sets over the past 20 years but there are lots I will buy in 2017. Please keep this up, Lego!
  22. You are of course welcome to disagree with my opinion that these are a waste of plastic but I still stand by that statement, as I feel there are very few parts that aren't overly specific to the theme and I have very little use for such parts. Therefore for me, they are replacing what could have been a far more useful source of accessories and parts had a regular line been released instead. I know the fanboys will like them but regular series are far more inclusive as there is always something to offer for all Lego enthusiasts. There are plenty of Batman figs clogging up the shelves near me and judging by The Simpsons and Disney lines, it didn't seem that licensed figures are more popular at all - I actually find it more difficult getting regular series. I guess neither of us know the sales figures though. However, I'd be surprised that even those that like the theme would claim there to be more variety than the regular series offer. I would think most Lego fans take an interest in the regular series and find it difficult to believe they don't like any of the various themes included.
  23. I hope there isn't a second Batman wave. The first lot are a waste of plastic. Bring back regular series, at least there is something for everyone!

2017 City Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Great idea - although the funeral one may be a bit morbid!!! I like the idea of a Fun at the XXX set each year but for these to sell well, they will need to include unique parts like Fun at the Park (new torsos, the wheelchair, baby...) A Fun in the Snow set would be very helpful for winter and ski lodge MOCs if there are appropriate new torsos or Fun at the Wedding would be nice to have more female figures in fancy dresses and hats. I also hope that Fund at the Beach includes a bare torso for normal sized guys (e.g. not muscular or sumo wrestler but not just plain yellow).
  25. You are trying to translate the word tipo, which also means type and is probably the most common translation of the word so therefore this appears when translating from Italian into English. However, Itaria has translated from English into Italian and therefore has typed the word 'guy' into Google translator which comes back with 'tipo' every time I try it. Also, http://www.wordreference.com/enit/guy shows both tipo and tizio are valid options.
