What's your recent LEGO Star Wars Purchase?

I picked up the 9495 "Gold Leader's Y-Wing" last week . I really liked the minifigs and the size and top of the Y-Wing, but I thought the bottom was extremely unfinished. The top has great details and greebs, and the bottom is just flat plates. No landing gear, no shape to it at all. But still looks great on the shelf next to 75003, 9492 and 9493!!!

    Knight's Exo-Suit Mk.V

They are all amazing, but the Mk. III is my favorite. The feet and the cannon on the left arm are outstanding. Terrific work man!

    Released Musical Instruments

Great idea for a topic! I know these are "accessories" and not actual instruments, but still molded and music-related... The mini-violin box from the Gangster minifig: And the Rapper minifig's accessories:

Talking about your city's special food

Hahaha unfortunately, you are very right! Those...look...amazing. Wings are popular up here too, there's a bar called Bubba Ray's which has 10 dry rubs like sea salt & pepper and cajun, and over 60 different wing sauces. They have a sauce below "suicide" on the menu called "death", and you have to sign a waiver to eat them. I can only imagine how incredible buffalo wings would be in Buffalo...

Talking about your city's special food

Oops... I have to plead ignorance, I've only ever seen it on the shelf in the "import" section of the liquor store. I read the name "Sapporo" and tried, unsuccessfully, to put 2 and 2 together. Thanks for the correction, def!

Talking about your city's special food

So I take it you were happy with last night's game 7??? hahaha I love New England Clam Chowder. Lobster, clams, mussels, pretty much everything from the sea is also very popular up here in Nova Scotia.

Talking about your city's special food

This is a great idea for a topic! I am from Halifax, Nova Scotia and our famous local dish is the donair. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doner_kebab#Canada It's a variation of the Turkish doner kebab or Greek gyro, which an immigrant changed to have spiced beef instead of lamb or chicken. It's served on a flatbread with chopped tomatoes and onions and a sweet sauce. It's so popular that shops in Alberta (across the country) started making them because there were so many Nova Scotians/Maritimers working in the oilfields out there. This is a regular Donair: But over time restaurants now serve things such as Donair Pizza: And Donair egg rolls . It's hilarious that the asian cuisine is vegetables, tofu and noodles and the North American is fried meat, dough and cheese... Healthiness is not our strong suit but it's delicious once in a while! This might be the most obvious question ever asked, but there's an import beer here called Sapporo, which I believe is Chinese... Is that the city of it's origin by any chance?

    Collecting UCS vs "regular" sets

I now understand completely what you mean by the different scales. The larger ships are detailed as per their relative size, but the ships that are smaller are detailed to minifig size. I never considered comparing the scales to "larger than" and "smaller than" system sets. I should have just looked at Anio's flickr and It would have been realised a lot quicker...

That would make an awesome "battle pack" sized set, the Cantina Band!
  19. I apologize in advance to the moderators if this topic is offside/in the wrong place... Today two of the "Big Deals" on eBay.ca is 21% off of Clone Troopers vs. Droidekas (75000) as well as Republic Troopers vs Sith Troopers (75001) It's a great chance to grab some good minifigs, considering it's only $12 Canadian with free shipping... Once again, I'm sorry if this is in the wrong forum, just wanted to share a good deal with my fellow Canucks!
  20. This....this....is amazing. I don't know why it stuck out to me, but I love your altered R2 with the camera. I forgot all about that scene and your MOC brought it right back instantly. Terrific job man, you should be proud.

Routines You Have While Building Lego

For some reason I always need background noise... Sometimes music, but most of the time it's YouTube. Right now I'm addicted to Cinemassacre and the Angry Video Game Nerd, so as I'm sorting/MOCing, I always have him ranting off to the side. Also a big fan of Simpsons, MST3K and Arrested Development as Lego accompaniments.

    Minibots Galore!

Haha good point! I built this little robot mechanic helicopter (mechanicopter?) the other night during some sorting.

    What...What is that?

I was doing some eBay shopping for a certain minifig, and tried searching by "price: lowest to highest". I came across these Lego knock-off brand sets, and had a great time browsing through the... unique creations. There's a few I'd like your opinion on... #1. I guess it's a raft? with some sort of fluorescent space buoy on the side? I also like how there is a grappling hook, but no string to attach it. I would say the cable is an important aspect to a winch, but I'm not an engineer... #2. The most stable platform for transporting missiles? A tractor of course. And don't worry about a proper launcher, we'll put that sucker right on the front bumper! Then again, maybe it's not supposed to be a missile, but that's the first thing I envisioned... #3. Some intense SNOT work on this one. Is it a scooter? A motorcycle? I find the pieces on the side to be a bit random... And the operator's vest is simply stunning. #4. This one is my personal favorite. How could something like this make it past the design stage to production??? What on earth is this thing? Why a trike design instead of a quad? What is it supposed to be? So many questions... All things considered, most of the clone brand sets on eBay are pretty cool looking. I obviously can't speak for the quality, but at least they looked like real things! Anyone have any ridiculous Lego clone brand pics? I'd love to see an example of the quality compared to TLG products...
