Welcome to the Super Mario discussion thread! This thread is dedicated to all Lego related Super Mario discussion throughout 2020--sets, rumors, thoughts, and general Lego Super Mario discussion. Enjoy! ---- Just teased on Facebook. I’m definitely there! hoping for lots of characters and a buildable Peach’s Castle. Video teaser

It’s weird. It’s unexpected. And it’s a very Nintendo thing to do. They tend to try weird gimmicky things in place of “safe” releases, and more often than not, they pay off.

Speculation/wishlist for possible sets: Peach’s Castle Bowser’s Castle or airship some sort of level diorama with Mario (or Luigi) with a few bricks, enemies (Goombas, etc), and ? Blocks. Maybe several variants (grassland, water, sky, etc) small fortress with flagpole Yoshi themed set Mario vs Bowser set Just things I’d like to see. :)

I can’t believe they kept this a surprise. Hoping the figures don’t look like the teaser image but I’m willing to wait and see. Hoping for some great location sets.

Disney Princesses 2020 - Rumors & Discussion
MandyNeko replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
I hope they ditch the ghastly lavender and dark red color scheme. I would have loved tan/gold/dark red but that purple just wrecks it for me. id also love to see a different dress for Belle. Holiday, pink dress and cloak, blue village dress, anything different than the yellow. -
Lego themes that we would like to happen
MandyNeko replied to YellowCorvette's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I’d like to see a Ducktales theme. They’ve already made most of the characters in the CMF, but they need some cool adventuring locales. Maybe a few like the video game featured: jungle temple, diamond mine, even the moon! Or some inspired by real places, like a South American temple, Egyptian pyramids, etc.- 451 replies

I have bunches of orange ones, but my son just bought a Space City set with his Christmas money that had a teal brick separator! Are they switching to all teal, or are more colors planned? Or already out there?
-
My husband keeps one in with his computer tools, too. So useful for prying pieces loose when a metal tool may cause damage.

The opalescent colors look lovely! I’m a huge fan of transparent colors and happy to see more variations.

It would be cool if that line were a reason for some new minidoll molds. Still disappointed that little sis Sophie in Elves was as tall as everyone else. I’d love to see more diversely-built Friends.- 451 replies

I’m a big fan of the new She-Ra series on Netflix. I’d love to see sets based on the locations and characters. Either traditional minifigs or minidolls would work. i could see it as a successor to Elves-style sets, but mixing some techie styles with the magic locations.- 451 replies

If Rise of Skywalker fails/under performs, how would that affect LEGO?
MandyNeko replied to Lego David's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I took my 6-year-old son to a Mother-Son Halloween party this Saturday. I'm always curious about what are the popular series based on kids' costume choices. Most boys were elementary school aged. There were multiple Pikachu, Mario, Luigi, and Fortnite characters. Every MCU Avenger was represented. Lots of Batman and Spider-Man. Optimus Prime. At least a dozen Harry Potters. Along with spooky standards like werewolves, vampires, and skeletons. The only Star Wars costumes I saw were on two tiny children too young to choose their own costume whose moms wanted to dress as Rey or an Ewok. It is just not the popular thing with kids. -
Maybe it's like the scene in Wreck it Ralph 2 where the princesses are hanging out backstage? i want to see Belle get a library set. I really don't like the lavender and dark red they chose for her castle,

It can't be the Seven Dwarfs Cottage since there is no Snow White listed. im only interested if we get variant clothes for the princesses. Blue dress or winter outfit (pink dress and cloak) for Belle, blue gown for Aurora (or her peasant garb). Yawn at seeing Ariel and Cinderella yet again.

What are some Star Wars sets that TLG could never produce?
MandyNeko replied to Pdaitabird's topic in LEGO Star Wars
What about a Mos Eisley Cantina counter, featuring Bea Arthur as the bartender. After all, the Holiday Special is one of the few Star Wars things they haven't made a million sets for already. -
This is beautiful. I have never collected Winter Village but this is a must-buy. I built the promo gingerbread house from bulk and I love this one. I love all those glitter pieces, too.

Fantasy themes, Elves, and how dolls got in the way.
MandyNeko replied to jemm13's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I like the minidolls. I had some Lego as a kid, but not much of it. Mostly the buckets of bricks and a few medieval minifigures. I didn't hang onto my original stuff and it was donated when I grew out of it. When I returned to Lego as an adult, Elves really captured my interest. If only they had existed when I was a little girl, I would have had so much more Lego in my collection - the colors, the characters, the shiny transparent pieces were exactly my style. I tracked down many of the Year 1 and 2 out-of-print sets, and bought lots of the new ones. I love the beauty of the minidolls (Elves and Princesses both), while I am "meh" about the minifigure (I have some knights and things in a box but I rarely display them). I only wish we had more random Elves - I have several of each main character and would love to populate my builds with more characters. I understand why they released the core characters again and again, but more variation would have been nice. Perhaps I'll need to break out the paint and start customizing a few of my own. Interestingly, my mom loves the minidolls too. She has commented about how beautiful the little faces are. If they had existed 25-30 years ago, I probably would have received many minidoll sets for gifts (especially Elves and Princesses). I think that's part of the success of the minidoll lines: if the parents like them, they are more likely to buy them for their own children. Would Elves have been this successful if they'd used minifigures? Maybe. But I think the minidolls really help with the detail of the clothing and faces, which helps with such a detail-packed series. The minidolls seem to fit with the rounded aesthetic more than the minifigures would have. Just my opinion. -
I still need to pick up some sets from this year. Is there a time of year where you can still get decent selection but prices are reduced? I'm thinking around Black Friday, but I may get Nocturna's tower sooner as a Halloween decoration.

I'm sad to report hat my local Lego store no longer carries the Elves line at all. Their spot is now filled with Unikitty instead. Apparently another store in the area still has Elves, though. It looks like the end of this excellent series. :(

My husband asked for one to use in his computer repair toolkit. Nice strong plastic edge to reach small spaces, not as damaging as a metal screwdriver tip (and doesn't conduct electricity). i use them for their intended purpose, but my 4-year-old sometimes pilfers them all and I find them in his Lego box.

The Lego Movie 2 - The Second Part 2019 Set Discussion
MandyNeko replied to Fenghuang0296's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Don't forget the Disney Princess line is mini dolls, too. Wonder if we may see a quick cameo like Star Wars had in the first movie. I'd love to see some Elves appear, too. -

I liked the detail of the minifig torso prints being a bit worn. Guess Finn hasn't been as careful with them as his dad was... -

I like the Mad Max aesthetic. It looks like they're trying something entirely new (has here ever been post-apocalyptic Lego before?) and I can't wait to see what they do with it. And I like the inclusion of a minidoll main character! -
Do they only select one at most per round? Or is there a chance they'll pick multiples in fall 2018?

AFOL with Spouses not into Lego, what's your agreement?
MandyNeko replied to FatherOf2Boys's topic in General LEGO Discussion
My husband and I have a budget like this. We each get so much "fun money" per month. If I choose to spend it on Lego, and he wants to spend his on fast food, that's our choice. :) edit to add that I have no dedicated Lego room. I have a table in the living room to build on, and some organized drawers to store sorted parts in by basic categories.
