Future Castle sets - put your hopes and ideas here
StephanSz replied to Alfadas's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I'd like to see a +-150 euro creator castle set, with a very realistic castle. Just like they do in the trains theme. Retail sets for the kids and creator sets for (A)FOLs. The sets can be combined, so you can use the kids sets with the creator sets. With a little effort, Lego could add flags and minifigs for two factions, so you can choose which faction the castle belongs to. Or even provide a secondary build, so you can buy two castles and make them slightly different. It would be great for everyone who doesn't like the current castle theme (which btw I really like and got all the sets from). And it would be no 1 on my wishlist! -
I love this set, I'm a fan of the latest castle theme, so I can't wait to get it :-) The review is a bit negative in my opinion, just because the reviewer doesn't like a theme, doesn't mean it's a bad set. A flying castle is weird, so it fits great into the movie. Thanks for reviewing!

>I went out, spent 25.60 CHF on 10506 You are a die hard duplo train fan :) I share your conclusion, it must have been a bad mold. Lego almost got away with it unnoticed! Thanks for maintaining your very interesting webpage.

It's so cool to see a post on duplo trains :) I'm a big fan, as well as my son and daughters. I tested the curved track issues right away, but my track (all bought in the last 2 years) doesn't have these issues! 2 curved tracks fit nicely next to eachother on a plate. I can make a full circle fixed on plates without stress. 4 straight are just as long as 4 curved. In other words, all the issues stated on http://www.cailliau.org/ do not exist with my track. Now that's really interesting don't you think?

I don't understand all the negative talk about this catle line. It's great! Going to buy the whole theme for sure. I just love the castle, with the blue pieces. Brings back the memories of my first castle 6080.

The Unofficial LEGO Collectors Guide RAFFLE
StephanSz replied to Fugazi's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'd go for the 924 space transporter because when I finally saved enough money to buy it, it was not available anymore... -
This looks great! Can be put into stores right away :)

Maybe I've got some time this weekend to try these rules with my kids. Looks ok at first sight.

Do you think that Alien Conquest is up to Lego Space standards?
StephanSz replied to 1980-Something-Space-Guy's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
This is a great theme! I got all sets, some twice. I love the minifigs, the colors, everything :) The jet on the HQ is my favourite. Very spacy, very high standard. The tripods are awesome too. A second wave would make my day :) It blends nicely into the city theme, aliens destroying the city, love to play with it. Anyway, 'Mars Attacks' is one of my favourite movies, maybe that explains why I like this theme so much. -
As a Lego train addict, I buy any set with trainwheels in it, or related to trains :) even Duplo! When Lego doesn't produce new sets, I just buy more of the sets I allready have. But it would be nice if they'd make at least two new sets a year. One with track for kids and one without track for AFOLs. My kids ofcourse like to play with the trains. I sometimes use this excuse to buy more :) But they'd never choose a train in the toystore by themselves... I wish more kids bought trains, so Lego would make more sets. For kids the price is too high. A 40% to 50% store margin is OK on smaller sets, but it drives up the price too much on expensive sets. Webshops usually offer them much cheaper, but that doesn't help kids in toystores.

I have a big pile of Lego boxes that need to be stored. Most of the later boxes can be flattened, some older boxes can't without destroying them. So I was wondering, what next? Maybe the smaller ones can be sealed or put into storage boxes. But the bigger ones (like from the trainsets) offer a challenge... I need some advice on how to store all this nice looking cardboard :) How do you store it?
-
Simple yet brilliant solution :) Thanks! That will shrink the pile into only the large boxes. I don't want the large boxes to be damaged (they will damage on my attick or in my garage), anyone with a good suggestion on safely storing the large boxes?

Interesting idea, battery powered 12v trains on PF rails... Not very fast though, maybe a 12v battery pack speeds it up. I would like to run my 7740 unmodified on PF rails and the batteries would fit into the mailcar. Nice experiment for this weekend :)

Oh man this is awesome! I will probably dream about fabu wars tonight after seeing this :) Can you please make more in this theme?

I've seen the train in Nurenberg, no photo's allowed. What I remember about it is that only the locomotive has real train wheels (the big ones, like on the emerald). The wagons have a round technic part with a rubber band as wheels. So it doesn't run on tracks. The wagons have wings that move when you drive the train around :) It's a kids train, combines nicely with the new castle in the same theme. In my opinion not something that is a must have for train fans. Allthough I'm pretty sure that I'll buy one or two when they go at a discount.

Thanks for the wonderful competition :) I realy like woolie and holodocs entries. The first for making the most amazing photo and the second for the funniest photo. And the others are great too!

Look what I saw on my diningtable! Dino Maersk Attack Brave Maersk employees :)

Wow, very good job! This looks like a professional remote switching solution.

You are talking about the dutch august 2011 and further catalogue? That is not a good sign! I think it won't be in the local stores or on webshops that order from Lego Benelux then. Let's hope it will be available from SAH in august.
-
Thanks for the great review! Can't wait to get my hands on this set.

Maybe you should consider to not restore it to 12V, but convert it to PF. You can buy all the parts on the lego site (couplers, bougieplates, engine (you actually need 2 engines to run it with all cars), batterybox etc) Or just buy the cargo train (not from the legosite, because it's expensive there) and use all the parts from it. It's much cheaper than buying all the missing parts from bricklink. I converted my 7740 to PF and it works great. Allthough running it on 12V is much more romantic/nostalgic ofcourse :)

I just heard from my dealer in The Netherlands, that 3677 is not (going to be) available for Benelux legodealers... Is there a Benelux dealer on this forum who can confirm this?

Lights and extra motor would be connected to the IR receiver, not on top of the batterybox. Lego probably prepared the train for lights, like in the last 2 sets. Extra motor doesn't look hard, because the IR receiver is on top of the dummy motor. This set is on my wanted list next to the Maersk set!

It was the first Legoworld for me (shame on me). I dragged my wife and daughters with me (yes, it will really be fun, believe me...) I loved the whole atmosphere there, so much Lego, so many people from young to old enjoying Lego. Lot's of entertainment for the kids and much to see for AFOLs. Fun to see all the dads carrying Lego bags with Shop@Home stuff and kids carrying stacks of boxes away from the Intertoys shop. 10% discount was not enough for me, so I didn't buy there. I did get a few trainparts from the secondhand stores and a nice Lego mug from S@H. The best part of it all was the pop version of the song 'Van Lego kun je alles maken...' all dutch readers probably remember it from the commercials ages ago. It was part of the Lego show on the stage in the last hall. My wife didn't really understand why I got all emotional from the kids dancing on the song haha The gift on the day I was there was a cute green tractor (4899). At first I didn't get the goodies bag (Intertoys spam I thought), but ofcourse I went back to get one after I saw the Lego gift! Even my wife couldn't resist and got one. Definitely going there next year!
