Hi,

now i´ve created an LDD file of the LSD housing, LDD is a cool program and very easy to use.

But i was not able to insert the right gears inside and i don´t know why........ :angry:

How ever, if anyone want to use it here is the DL link: https://www.dropbox....LSD housing.lxf

P.S. The housing is created for servo motor.

You might need to rotate some axles so that the teeth of the gears don't overlap. In yor picture the hubs for example have both axles at a right angle.

The teeth wouldn't mesh and LDD refuses to place the part.

It's quite annoying.

But its realistic... Teeth need to be aligned

But in real life, it's much easier to just do that, in LDD it's a pain in the megablocks. I guess it is realistic, though.

It´s impossible........ if i remove the portal axle the gears are ok and i can adapt it.

But then i can´t put the portal axle on it´s place.

If i remove then the 12T gear i can use the portal axle without problems......... sorry i don´t understand this.

And if i use this gear it was no problem also........... hmmmmmm :wacko:

P.S. The crazy thing is the gears collide but i can still use it........!!!

You need to use the hinge tool to rotate the gears. I believe its 12.5 degrees.

I just built the reaper in LDD so I know its possible, don't give up, looking good. :D

Yeah......... now it´s working :classic:

But that was not the reality, i have to change the standard axle 4 in the differential to an axle 4 with stop........ that´s all :sceptic:

And i have to change the angles of the axles to 7,81 degree and all gears are OK.

What a horrible work..... you can´t find anything about this in the helpdesk of LDD :thumbdown:

Further i have to change the steering to 12 teeth gear, but it´s annoying LDD don´t accept my 16 teeth gear.

It´s ok now and i can construct the complete car....................

Yes, the first LSD is implement in my new crawler............ it´s great!

The next days i want to build the 2nd gear and then i send the pics...........

The new tires are also a really good choice for the crawler....

But wait a little, next days i´ll be update all.

Well, there is a reason why it's called limited slip differential. :classic:

While your design provides slip, it wouldn't work in the same manner as an LSD. If all four wheels encounter an obstacle, they would all slip, and the vehicle would be stationary. It might give the desired effect on a lightweight chassis, that doesn't encounter many obstacles, but not in a million years for a trial truck etc. One could of course use clutch gears instead of pulley wheels and rubber bands in Ralf's setup, however

Using a clutch gear on each wheel might work as long as it slips before wheel lock.

The clutch gears are not working like an LSD, if you have an obstacle the car has no more propulsion and all four clutch gears spin...........

The clutch is set up to slip before gears start crunching, to keep the right scale and 4WD is not easy with lego.

Older BMW's I think had something similar to stop wheel spin and oversteer?

Yes many cars have "viscosity torque converter" but not at that position.

The torque converter is inside the differential and shared the power to the left or right side, but one side has always propulsion.

Just a quick update, hopefully this weekend I will be testing my Patria AMV with 4 sets of my limited slip diff.

Will be interesting to see how they handle 5.5kg body weight!!! :tongue:

Maybe you are thinking of an Active Braking Limited Slip ? where it slows down the spinning wheel ? I am not sure though....
