What was the last movie you watched?

Recommended Posts

Watched Brave the other day with my sister. Quite funny and, as should be expected from Pixar, beautifully animated.

I'm not sure if I like it more than Up or The Incredibles though. I'd have to watch it again to be sure.

Casino Royale was epic. People say that Quantum of Solace isn't as good but I'll watch that anyway in preparation for Skyfall.

I thoroughly enjoyed Casino Royale (although I don't really picture James Bond playing Texas Hold 'Em). Either way, that was a good one and I thought Daniel Craig did a good job as the lead. I know I saw QoS, but I really don't remember any details from it. I take that as it wasn't as good, but I should probably rewatch it sometime to make sure, and also in preparation for Skyfall.

This is bit freaky, but I just recently watched Armageddon the day before Michael Clarke Duncan passed away. He's one my most favorite "supporting actor" who always gives outstanding performance that rivals (Green Mile) or even outshines (Daredevil) the lead actor. You'll be missed Mr. Duncan, "Hollywood's Gentle Giant". :sadnew:

Saw Wall Street 1 and Toy Story (again) today. I'll probably have to cut back on movie watching with schoolwork starting to pile up again.

I watched Sucker Punch last night. After reading a lot of reviews and hearing a lot of bad press for it, I almost didn't rent it, but I recall the trailer being entertaining. I mean, girls with guns and a katana killing steampunk zombies and dragons..seemed interesting. For what it was supposed to be, it was an entertaining movie. But if you want a thought provoking movie, you will be disappointed. The acting was good enough for what it needed. The action sequences were pretty neat overall. I would recommend watching it, but go into it with an open mind. I'd rank it 3.5-4/5.

Tonight will be another movie, we'll see what I can find.

Saw Paranorman today with my brother.

Excellent animated movie. The soundtrack was great (my favorite track was 'Norman's Walk') and most of the jokes were spot on. Definitely a great Halloween flick, and actually was a bit risque for a PG rating.

9/10

Aaaannnndddddd...just finished Quantum of Solace. Casino Royale was by far the better Bond movie. Only a month and a half left till Skyfall comes out. :D

I watched Cowboys & Aliens the other night. I've been getting into more modern day stylized westerns and this one fit right in. I thought Daniel Craig was pretty cool in the lead and can't be too disappointed with Olivia Wilde in a role.

It made me want to bust out some MOCs with some Sci-Fi/Western mash-ups. It made me want a lot more Western torsos than the few I have from the Wild West theme in the mid-90s. I guess Lone Ranger theme will take care of some of that next year.

I'd probably rank it 4/5 for entertainment value. But I doubt I'll rent it again or buy it.

Ultimate Avengers 2, if it counts. My first experience of Black Panther (I'd never had a comic with him in) so now I'm even more interested in the rumours of his own live-action film.

Yesterday I watched The Grey with Liam Neeson. It was on Instant on Netflix so I thought why not. The storyline was kind of slow moving, but overall I thought it was a good movie. I kept yelling at the screen because some people are so ignorant/stupid that I could easily picture them being in this situation and something happening. I kept rooting for the antagonist at certain times. But I thought Liam (basically the only star power) did his job well. I was expecting something different than what it was, but I didn't really know what it was about before watching it either. Rank 3.75/5 but I probably wouldn't sit and watch it again.

The latest movie I watched was Romancing the Stone. I've seen it before, years ago. It's an awesome movie. But I fell asleep about half way through this time, unfortunately. I've been working long hours lately and have been pretty tired. I'll pick it back up soon though and follow up with The Jewel of the Nile.

I watched Clash of the Titans (remake from 2009 I think). I remember loving the original back in the day. I liked seeing it updated with better CGI and everything. Gemma Arterton wasn't a bad addition either.

Now if only TLG would produce some sets to coincide with those particular stories, I will be a happy camper. I may have to try my own purist ways to do that. I thought the mummies from the Pharaoh's Quest line were similar enough to the Desert tribe in the movie.

I like Ralph Fiennes as an actor, but his portrayal was very Voldemort-like. Maybe he couldn't shake that mentality.

I probably wouldn't purchase the movie, but if it was ever on, I would watch it again. 4.25/5

Saw Resident Evil: Retribution. I thought it was cool, lots of action and infected human butt kicking! I like that a lot of familiar faces to the franchise were there.

A couple of recent movies I watched:

Peter Pan (2003) - the "Neverland adventure" never gets old even for an adult like me :classic:. A nice feel good movie filled with notable performances especially by Jason Isaacs (Mr. Darling/Captain Hook).

Apocalypto - the extremely violent scenes may have been a bit disturbing and stressful to watch at times, but there are a lot of things I liked in this movie: the story, no matter how simple, was gripping, heart-pounding, and so effectively told that you'd really root for the protagonist to succeed with his escape. I also loved how the relatively unknown cast gave a superb acting job. And the whole movie may not have been the "ideal entertaining" Hollywood flick but it was certainly enlightening and educational as I have little to no prior knowledge about the Mayan/Mesoamerican civilization.

Just watched Inception, when I first saw the trailer I thought it was lame so I didn't watch it in the movie theater, but now I am a old man filled with regrets.

Let's see how many movies I can watch and post about, jeesh.

I watched American Reunion the other day. I thought it was a nice "conclusion?" to the series. At least, I hope it was a conclusion. I was a freshman in high school when the first one came out so I could connect with the people a little easier probably. And now that it has been 13 years later and they were doing a reunion (my 10 year reunion was this summer) I was again able to connect with the characters. To a point, I knew what they were experiencing so it probably made the movie more believable to me. They didn't go for all the gross out gags like they did in the beginning, so that was refreshing. They did have some uncomfortable scenes, but it wasn't as often.

I thought it added a little something to the series, but I wouldn't go out and buy it anytime soon. Rank 3.5/5 probably.
