IronArtist Posted October 26, 2009 (edited) Hi. This is my first new decal since joining the forums here a few days ago. I wan't really happy with any of the Wolvie's or Logan decals available, so I opted to make my own. I am still about half way done with the Torso design so i should take a few more days. Especially with some exams coming up soon. The Decal was made using the vector tool in Photoshop. This is my first attempt at making decals in Photoshop. Previously I've been using Serif Draw Plus, but it gave me the absolute shits. It was always losing my files and make working in it quite nerve wracking. If it appears blurry or fuzzy it's because of resizing. The original file being significantly larger. Enjoy: Edited December 14, 2009 by IronArtist
Bonaparte Posted October 26, 2009 It looks just like Wolverine! Will you try it out on a real LEGO head?
tin7_creations Posted October 27, 2009 (edited) You should make the hair darker, Wolverine's hair (in the movies at least) is near black. I really like it though, the expression really captures the character. I will definitely try it on my Wolverine fig. Edited October 27, 2009 by tin7
Capt. Kirk Posted October 27, 2009 Nice job... maybe you can give the hair some structure.
IronArtist Posted October 27, 2009 Thanks. Well I have experimented with various shades of brown and grey. But this really seems to suit the design perfectly. the colour of the hair has been somewhat bugging me. I'll have to review some more colours and see how that goes. I actually haven't ever made any customs, couldn't really be bothered really. You can test it out for yourself if you want to see, should be interesting to see the results. I'm not really sure what you mean?
CF Mitch Posted October 27, 2009 Wow This one really screams 'Hugh Jackman as Wolverine' to me. Awesome job you did there. Although, like the others, I think the hair should be black Great job nevertheless! CF W
IronArtist Posted October 28, 2009 (edited) I've edited the decal so the facial hair is now of a slate grey, almost black shade. It actually doesn't look too bad to be honest. I'm still working on the torso at the moment. I'm still not sure what was meant by adding structure to the hair? Dutch Posted October 28, 2009 Wow for using photshop it's amzing very Lego like.
IronArtist Posted October 28, 2009 Not quite sure I follow? You are still able to draw in Photoshop, is it because it's difficult to work with? Because personally I find it easy to use and ends with great results. At the moment I'm having some trouble keeping the torso in style with the face decal. It's proving to a pain in the megablocks. Dutch Posted October 28, 2009 Mind if I take a look at your decal to see if I can help you.
IronArtist Posted October 28, 2009 (edited) No not at all, any help is greatly appreciated. Currently it's lacking that lego'ish feeling. Edited October 29, 2009 by IronArtist
LuxorV Posted October 28, 2009 These look great, IronArtist I really like it when someone shows such a detailed and profesional work on one of my favourite characters. Btw, I always considered Hugh Jackman's hairs to be dark brown LuxorV
IronArtist Posted October 28, 2009 Yeah I know what you mean, I thought his hair was brown as well. I think I'll still run with the brown hair on the finished decal. If you like this character then I'll have to update my previous Darth Vader when I'm done with Wolvie.

Big Cam Posted October 28, 2009 Oh man, that's great! The hair that Captian Green Hair has in brown would be perfect for this head!!
IronArtist Posted October 29, 2009 Oh, okay. I can get on to that. Although it doesn't really suit Hugh Jackman's portrayall of Wolverine, to me that is. I'll experiment with it over the next few days. Any tips for the torso? I'm thinking of adding the belt + the beltbuckle as it is a signature feature of the Character throughout the X Men Films. tin7_creations Posted October 29, 2009 (edited) No not at all, any help is greatly appreciated. Currently it's lacking that lego'ish feeling. Here is what the face will look like on a head: WIP torso design: you should add wolverine's tags. I assume that the belt buckle you mention is the "X" buckle used by all the x-men? i suggest you don't do the belt buckle. since in the movie you're referencing from, wolverine does not use that belt yet. I'm also wondering how you got that particular interface to test apply your decal on. Edited October 29, 2009 by tin7
CF Mitch Posted October 29, 2009 I think he actually means the belt with the oval belt buckle, a bit of a cowboy-ish buckle. @IronArtist: I think your torso decal looks great already, but adding the belt with the buckle and perhaps the tags would be a very nice addition. Can't wait to see how it turns out Greetings, CF W
IronArtist Posted October 29, 2009 I've updated the thread. The finished decals are posted in the first post. Have a look and let me know what you all think. I might add another couple sooner or later, possibly one with a flannel shirt and another with leather jacket.

CF Mitch Posted October 30, 2009 Alright, these look cool The torso decal with the shirt on looks a lot like how Wolverine looks on the cover of the dvd. Very nice job CF W
user Posted October 30, 2009 Great work! This is about as close to wolverine as you could get in a lego decal while still keeping the lego art style good job!
IronArtist Posted October 31, 2009 Thanks man. Yeah it's hard to find the balance between details and Lego'esqueness. I've updated post with a new decal, Lumberjack Logan.
CF Mitch Posted November 1, 2009 Hey, I just watched the movie this afternoon and your Lumberjack Logan really looks excellent, just like the rest. Can't wait to see the buckled one, and the one with the gray/brown and yellow leather jacket Keep it up CF W
