Hobbythom Posted September 16, 2021 Hi all, I've been building some small rolling stock. Because my two boys (ages 3 and 6) also play with the LEGO trains, there were some design specifications:1. Sturdiness When kids play, stuff breaks. So the wagons needed to be sturdy and easily built. This makes it possible for them to repair it themselves.2. Ease of operation Any moving parts or functions have to be easily accesible and ease to operate to enhance play. No tipping over the wagon to empty it. 3. Interesting silhouette/colors My boys don't care for realism. They care for recognizable and vibrant. Combining these I built these small hopper wagons. They are easily loaded and emptied and very sturdy. And the are buildable in a wide array of colors. I hope you like them! https://flic.kr/p/2mrfRVB
Feuer Zug Posted September 16, 2021 Nice builds. They appear to be European style hoppers. I'm sure they'll hold up to the kids playing with them based on what I see.
Dav1d Posted September 16, 2021 Very nice, how do they empty? They look a bit like the hopper wagon from set 4564 or the hopper wagon 10017.
deraven Posted September 16, 2021 Very nice. I think they fit all of your requirements and would be plenty of fun! Looks good in several of those other color options, too.
JopieK Posted September 16, 2021 Nice job! Look a little like the ones in the NL: There they are mainly used for track ballasting.

Indeed, I borrowed the mechanism from 10017. It is nice and simple. On 9/16/2021 at 9:12 PM, JopieK said: Nice job! Paperinik77pk Posted September 24, 2021 Very nice wagons!!! Perfect for heavy-duty operations! The "classic" unload system is always working, So it was a good choice! Thumbs up also for the picture with all colors available! Davide
