sm1995 Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago Speculation - is custom garage the modern equivalent to the racers nitro series? ie Legos lineup of modified cars, just licensed this time. Either way this looks horrible, but the theme could be interesting as a concept Quote

Also this is way more in line with the Lego spirit to build your own ideas into a set and not only use it as it is. The headlights or lets say the whole front section are a joke. Looks like it was driven into a wall. Did the designer just gave up? Rest of the design is just so generic you couldn't even tell the car if there wasn't the pony on the front grill. Quote
Auroralampinen Posted 19 hours ago Author Posted 19 hours ago (edited) Ok, interesting. The front wheels seemingly have a Dark blue axle. Interesting recolor for an axle:). Interesting photography mistake by lego. On the front and on other pictures the rear axle sticks out:). While on back picture its flush with the hub cap:). Edit. It might not be a mistake. It might be just the rear wheels have been turned around on the other picture:). Edited 19 hours ago by Auroralampinen Quote

Satisfied Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago It feels a bit boring and doesn't really interest me. Quote

It might be indeed, or it's a new part, say 3.5L in the front, 4.5L axle in the rear Looks like we get 3L axle joiner smooth in yellow Edited 17 hours ago by SNIPE Quote

Ngoc Nguyen Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago (edited) Custom Garage is like doing a B model without actually doing a B model. Modern fans may not know it but back in the days we used to get Custom Garage too, just not with the name Edited 17 hours ago by Ngoc Nguyen Quote
Oh_Hi_Mao Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago This is 10+ set so it might be interesting for kids. But it better would be non licensed set because that Mustang looks really bad TBH Quote
JTS Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago It's not my cup of tea but I'm glad its a new idea they're trying out. Hopefully it will translate to other sets at a larger scale. Interestingly I have the Creator Mustang that was also dark blue and also came with several add-ons to customise the car! Quote

jorgeopesi Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago I want to see B models using all the pieces, there will be 24h lemnas cars for sure. Quote

Divitis Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago I like the underlying idea. Gives people a reason to pick up their display sets once in a while, like changing the seasonal foliage on some other nature themed sets. Quote

Auroralampinen Posted 13 hours ago Author Posted 13 hours ago I think this set will beat the record for the most stickers on a technic set. Because all of the purple hue detailing is stickered. Plus the yellow pieces does have even more stickered details. Plus the model have stickers for detailings. So we have to now create sticker per piece ration counter for this one. I think this model has over 200 stickered pieces:). Quote
Jim Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Okay, maybe I am the only one, but I kinda like this concept and I wish TLG would do this more often. The car is not that special, but being able to Mod it is quite nice. Quote
Oh_Hi_Mao Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Interesting - "Custom Garage" logo is not the same as for the official Ford department. It seems that official license for this set is only Ford. "Custom garage" logo seems to be Lego internal creation - it may be new Lego Technic Subtheme and we can expect similiar set for the other manufacturers Quote

2GodBDGlory Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago I don't mind the concept, but then I guess any sets I buy are pretty much parts packs, so I don't really mind if some of my money goes to parts outside the main build. I'm not too pleased with the execution of the car, though. The front of the car is just way too flat and square. Maybe too tall too? Quote
Ngoc Nguyen Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Here's what RacingBrick got to say about it. Spoiler The first official summer 2026 LEGO LEGO Technic reveal just happened… kind of. The 42236 Custom Garage Ford Mustang GT Car is now online and available for preorder in several countries with an August 1 release date: https://bit.ly/4cHAN7R For some reason, the product page currently only shows a single image, hopefully that gets fixed soon. A few additional images have already surfaced at independent retailers though, so we can still take a closer look. The price is €90 / $100, which is noticeably steeper than the usual Car Transporter Gang members. But to be fair, we’re sort of getting one and half cars in one package, with a higher piece count of 973 pieces. At first I thought “Custom Garage” referred to Ford’s official customization program, but the logo used on the set seems completely different. So here’s the concept: you build the car, then remove a large portion of the bodywork and swap it for an upgraded, differently styled version, almost like changing body kits in a video game. Honestly, I think that concept is pretty cool. But based on the images, there may be a few drawbacks some people won’t like. First of all: stickers. A massive number of them. This might have one of the highest sticker-to-visible-part ratios in LEGO Technic history. Then there’s the identity of the car itself. Nearly everything that says “Ford Mustang GT” appears to be stickered. The brick-built headlights are there, but not especially recognizable. Remove the stickers, and this might have less character than the generic muscle car from the old Car Transporter. Of course, it could look much better in person, but these are just first impressions. Otherwise, I’m spotting plenty of recolors already, and there’s even a blue axle sticking out at the front, definitely an unusual part. Let me know if you notice anything interesting. And let’s talk about the concept too. We’ve seen swappable customization parts in LEGO City sets recently, but not at this scale. What do you think about the idea, and about the execution? Let’s discuss in the comments! http://youtube.com/post/UgkxfDqckEEKE_WgZnNN1kRjn3OoiRyJVBO3 Quote
