Mr. Negative

Wasn‘t that confirmed to be nothing more than a pun on exabricks’ part because he had negative set news? Any new character (or version) is a win in my book, but I‘d rather have a different new villain, to be honest.

Much less interested in the film after the trailer. Probably will skip the set. Galactus looks very muted colorwise and I wouldn’t be surprised if they just wind up just making him gray.

Loving that F4FS trailer!
Very hyped for it, now :sweet:
Also, more excited for the set, now that I've seen the F4 members have 'proper' outfits.
Unless of course LEGO gives minifigures based on some concept art where the suits are entirely different

Mitch

I mean it could be lighting plus Lego often bases sets on concept art and sometimes they get the right pulled out from under them by changing designs so it could still be purple. Strange to want Lego to get the colour wrong but that would look better. ( And that might explain no repurposed X-Mansion sentential as that would mean two big purple guys on shelves at the same time).

F4 looks brilliant! Definitely the right choice to have The Thing be a minifig, but wish there were more sets as a Baxter Building set would be incredible, and shame we won’t be getting Herbie

Posted (edited)

It‘s a shame we‘re only getting one set based on the movie, as the trailer alone shows there’d be potential for more. At this point though, we should consider ourselves lucky we‘re even getting one :snicker:

Also, making The Thing a minifig was the right choice. He isn‘t taller than the others, as we can see in the group shots!

Hi, I heard rumors of the peter's department will have hobgoblin fig.

Looks like you were right! The apartment set allegedly includes Spidey, MJ, Hobgoblin, and Anti-Venom

Glad to see what I assume is comic MJ in a set.

I guess that Mr Negative post was just a negative news post and not a hint about the character appearing. Unless he appears in a D2C or polybag at some point.

Wait, are they actually cooking with this set? Sounds like the most interesting comicbook Spider-Man set since... Daily Bugle, and probably the bridge battle if you're not counting D2Cs.

Hobgoblin making a comeback is fantastic. This is quite a unique villain selection. Another MJ is also extremely welcome. Weird that there's no full Peter Parker though, but at least he'll have an alternate head.

Yeah, same here. If their outfits are the current ones from the trailer, and not the ones with all the weird lines from the initial art, I might actually pick it up. The only real complaint I'd have is that since Thing is wearing a shirt in this he still wouldn't be perfect (though I'd prefer a bigfig anyway). Mr. Fantastic is generally easy enough to mod, though I don't think we have brown hair with grey temples yet. Sue and Johnny should be spot-on.

I really hope they give MJ her due and she's not just re-used parts. At the very least, I want RED hair (not dark orange, RED) and the iconic spidey heart T-shirt.

You'll take this MCU Spider-Man 4 preview set with MCU MJ and Ned Hobgoblin and you'll like it!

And your buildable figure of Mr. Negative.

(But yeah, it's excellent that Comic MJ is returning. It's CRIMINAL that we've only ever had one.)

MJ might be my most hyped figure of the year.

I will say. No Modular Oscorp is a huge misstep (Obligatory Kaine/Daredevil/Moon Knight/Luna Snow mention). But the apartment alone has three heavily desirable characters for me, so that helps offset the blow a bit. Here's hoping it's not as absurdly overpriced as the ITSV set it's rumored to connect to.

If nothing else this'll keep me from buying the mech until we see the apartment set. Those little $15 sets are too easy to pick up while getting groceries...

No Paul minifigure? Spidey’s greatest villain? 0/10 set.

UJ/ Hob Goblin will be nice to get again.

Actually, lego got a little confused as to who Hobgoblin was under the mask so his alt-head in this set IS Paul. He also comes with a 2x2 tile showing some divorce papers signed by Mephisto.

Nice minifigure lineup for Peters appartment set, but Anti-Venom inclusion makes buying the mech pointless. Curious if Lego will actually try with MJ figure or just use pre existing prints for her. And it's nice to have a Hobgoblin 9 years after original one came out, I hope Lego doesn't cheap out on his minifigure as an old one was great and I hope new one can do justice to the character

Well, uh... how do we tell him?

It's just as bad I fear—both cost 50€; 394 pieces vs 375 for the Spider-Verse set.

Hobbie and AntiVenom and MJ share the personna Roderick Kingsley (i had to google it - i am way behind with the comics) so it’s nice to know that the designers had a vision. However we had anti-venom in that mech set and we already had hobgoblin. So if they chose them for like a litte sort of nice touch, i’d rather had them pick Captain Britain and Boomerang as they were roommates with Peter at one time in comic history.
anyway MJ is nice to get and i hope for some nice (probably stickered) details.

now let’s hope for another level with the appartment of Candi, Randi and Bambi.
So they can sunbath on the roof

This is shaping up to be the best year for Lego Spider-Man in a long while. They're really going all out with number of fresh characters we're getting. Nice to also finally have the real MJ back in a Lego set after so long.

The F4 trailer has me hyped for the Galactus set. Can't wait for pictures to come out. I still wish Lego would surprise us with a modular Baxter Building in November but I've accepted Arkham has most likely taken that slot for the year.

Sounds like the apartment at least won’t have a sizeable side-build like the police car, that’s something! It would be so nice to get a new Spidey figure (PS5 suit when?).

Really enjoyed the new F4 trailer. I’ve been largely apathetic of the group since the old 2000’s films but this movie looks like it’ll be something special. I sincerely hope the Galactus set gets some new moulds in there for the minifigures.

Well, you know, that's 19 pieces of copium right there. I can pretend that that combined with the fact we haven't had any sort of car leak imply we're actually gonna get a sizable apartment.

excellent work carrying on the hobgoblin confusion, I even got confused and had to google and make sure Kingsley was never a symbiote.

This might be a hot take but I'm glad about this- I like Anti-Venom but didn't want to buy a spider man mech.

I hadn't thought about it a ton because she's a civilian, but comic MJ might honestly be up there with comic Moon Knight and Luna Snow as my most wanted characters. (And I want to be clear, I want red-not dark orange- red hair and a spidey heart shirt torso, not a kitbash)

I think it's actually possible this set could have it. Obviously there's no guarantee it'll be 1:1, but the spider verse set has 7 new prints (miles head/torso, miles's dad head/torso, spot head/torso/legs. Not sure if Gwen's are new or not). Anti-venom assumably will be the exact same, and I can't imagine Hobgoblin uses more than a head and torso. So unless this set has significantly fewer prints than the other one, we might be getting new prints for spidey and MJ.

I quickly glanced at the Wikipedia article and man is this character’s history a mess :laugh_hard: Before, I thought he was just Ned, but noooooo *huh* A lot of superhero/villain monikers were used by multiple characters throughout the ages, but this is ridiculous!

I will not hear you out. (It is possible- I'm a bit surprised lego's releasing a residential apartment as a marvel set, there's got to be SOMETHING for the kids. Even the ATSV set was based on a scene from a movie and had a police car.)

Yeah no the Hobgoblin was never even actually Ned. If I remember right it's due to the guy who created the hobgoblin leaving the book before his identity was revealed, another writer making him ned, and then the original guy coming back and going "no it's not ned it's Roderick Kingsley it was always Kingsley", and then it just got wrapped up in the goblin king/goblin wars stuff

That's a minifig playset and not a helmet or prop replica is for the kids ( even though it's what most of us Afols prefer)!

Yeah it's just a city set with marvel figs, like at least the constant morbmobiles and hero cars take the time to make futuristic or character-themed designs. This is a city monster truck with a couple Hulk stickers.

That’s the case with those other sets you mentioned too, I feel. Those sets (and the mechs too) feel like a waste of prints and bricks—although new windshields are always nice. At least the monster truck set can work fine as is, since one can chose not to apply those stickers and feature a generic truck in their city. I see what you’re trying to say, though I’d rather they’d focus their efforts into… Edit: more creative sets or at least things from the comics or MCU. Then again, when given five Infinity Saga slots, TLG chooses the scrap ruins of Avengers Compound as building material. :/

Friendly PSA to any leakers: STOP BEING OVERLY VAGUE. First Redwood, now Mr. Negative? Are we going to see a post with a picture of TCW Anakin only for it be a buildable Vader helmet? Is this just a normal occurrence that I’m going to have to get used to with these leakers? This isn’t the same thing as getting disappointed a ship isn’t exactly as imagined, or an innocent mistake—this is outright misdirection.

MJ sounds promising! I hope it’s mostly new pieces for one of comic’s most iconic “side” characters. Hobgoblin’s detail will probably be on par with that of X-Jet Wolverine—still, great to hear we have a new villain to anticipate.

Well, it is what it is. I just hope TLG’s pricing comes back down to earth next year.

Fantastic Four trailer kinda whelmed me. Not quite the same feels as the SDCC teaser footage, but it still got me at a couple spots. Rewatching it gets me more excited, though. Looks like the film will be closely aligned with original Galactus comic arc; character dynamics feel great; Ben Grimm, I gotta tell you, looks fantastic.

LEGO Galactus won’t be grey, I believe. Not only does that not make sense from a toy perspective, I’m still not convinced he’s grey in the movie, albeit probably desaturated.

As for the Human Torch, I hope they do his Flame On look; in which case I still expect an approach similar to Iceman who matches his Silver Age look perfectly. Then again, the Thing does appear to be wearing the same uniform Johnny wears (white collar, white stripe on the arms) so I could see TLG reusing the same print for those two to save costs. All I can say is that I sincerely hope not.

He‘s not a new character though, we had him in the Ghostrider set in 2016

My guess: It‘s his regular costume, but with the usual flame effect pieces to represent his powers :laugh_hard:
