I'm surprised in these times of snot building and limiting visible studs, that there's still no head piece for bald men... That's 1 stud that does bother me a bit.

There is but I think it's a little too 'old man-ish' for Picard.

Huh, I just recently found out this thread existed and was surprised there was so little talk of this set in the Sci-Fi forum. Should have occurred to me sooner, but for some reason I expected it would get the LotR treatment on EB.

Anyway: nice set, though out of my price range; the angular or studded nature doesn't bother me - this still LEGO after all.

Minifigs look great, my one substantial dislike is Data's eyes - they should have made them normal IMO. And that phaser is just weird.

Also not sure about the uniform colors - the red and blue should have been darker shades, and the ops division should have been greener (though I don't know if there is a better color in the current palette).

GWP is nothing to chase after, its nice there is a minifig-scale shuttle, though I'm not really a fan of Ro - she was a bit too abrasive for my taste. But it's all good, especially for those who will be glad to get her.

I think so too, the stud is just ugly. I got the hair piece that @Calanon mentiond in white with a HP set and I think it looks good in person. I don't know if my photoshop skills do it any favor though  I think it would look better irl:

Blasphemy! I actually think Minifigures without studs just look totally creepy. Just remember when the Pharell Williams trailer came out and all minifigures there had no studs on their heads, it looked just so bad.

I'm generally not against visible studs, but it always felt off to me on minifigs.

I think the one Yperio posts might work. Or maybe time to see if I can make a better one with some 3D printing friend's help.

Studs on the head do look 'natural' Lego.

Funny fact... Even in the old days (1980s) when visible studs were still the norm, there were never any bald men in a set. Someone at Lego at the time must have been feeling the same about this

Yes, it looks just to 'technical' or 'unnatural'. Everyone wears some hair, hat or helmet and then there's a person with a stud on the head?!? I think the piece with some hair on the sides works well. And if there is such a piece, there could be one that covers the stud without any hair.

Stephen Hawking. He played his hologram in one episode when Picard was playing poker with him and Isaac Newton.

The could have given him a bald piece without hair. I think there exists one, maybe the Harry Potter line

I think a small smooth dome is harder to remove than Egghead's dome and similarly when there is molded hair. I've got some third party parts that are like that and if you put them on a head they can be problematic to remove. Maybe that is why they don't do it.

I remember a hairless bald piece, too.. I think it was Egg-man from the DC Superheroes line?
From what I can tell, the haired bald piece definitely doesn't look too bad, I might get it too

You are right, that makes sense. I didn't think of this problem. 

So for Picard they should have used the piece with a little hair on the sides (and back).

Can't wait to see peoples mocs, using the new Star Trek minifigs. Wouldn't that Ninjago minifig that was revealed recently (Cole's Grandfather?) work as a Klingon warrior [EDIT: I mean the torso and legs]? Probably there are better options...

I think what we need is exactly the middle ground between Eggman and the piece with the side hair that Yperio posted before. Picard did have side hair, just cut very short.

Yes, thank you!

I do think it looks too old-mannish - perhaps some printing for the hair he did have would have been good. The exposed stud doesn't bother me too much.

To be honest, I vastly prefer having a regular minifig head over that particular headpiece, which makes him look like a random grandpa  Bald characters not having a head attachment is a tried and tested method at this point and I see little reason to change that ^^

I don't get that piece to be honest, like bald LEGO minifigures having the stud is iconic, why would you smooth that over? It always looks weird to me

Rang my local store and they informed they will get 75 sets but have no way of knowing how popular it will be as its the first Star Trek set but they will be handing out tickets so at least I won't need to queue for hours waiting for them to open so plan to get there at 8am, queue until I get a ticket then go off for breakfast and come back at 10am when they open.
