JohnTPT17 Posted March 24 Posted March 24 The upcoming set is now confirmed to be a ToS Bridge. Summer release, no word on price or part count. Quote

Going for the bridge is a smart move since another Enterprise would be way too soon Sure, the ships look different, but the concept is too similar in its essence. The bridge is just as recoginsable (if not more so than the ship itself!) and thus makes for an excellent companion set! Quote
icm Posted March 24 Posted March 24 Bluebrixx was pumping out the big (and medium, and small) ships as fast as they could. Maybe they had a gut feeling they wouldn't be able to hold on to the license for very long, maybe they were just milking the cash cow for everything they could. For the sake of my wallet, I'm happy for Lego to take a slower approach. My wanted list is far too long already. Still, a TOS bridge with minifigs is certainly a must-buy set for me. Quote
Clone OPatra Posted March 24 Posted March 24 I'm excited to see a bridge set. Personally, Star Trek would be very well suited for a midi "Starship Collection" scale line (with some minifgs included of course). Doing big ships, there's no way they'll do even close to everything people would want, but at midi scale they can pump out ships from all different factions and shows and get through quite a lot, IMO. I completely agree and hope they go this route. Quote

Surely the vessels are a perfect candidate for LEGO sets of any size. Like others have said, two large and expensive Enterprises within a short amount of time would a bit much. Even those people who like both TOS and TNG probably have their favourite and might not want to buy both if the sets are too similar. And TNG wins that race not because it's any better but because the people who grew up with it are in that perfect "fourty-something nostalgic adult" range that LEGO just loves to milk for all they're worth. CF Mitch Posted March 26 Posted March 26 @BrickBob Studpants and @brickbride, you make good points. The bridge set will certainly be something to look forward to. And who knows, an actual Enterprise may appear in the future I did actually skip the Enterprise-D, even though I, indeed, grew up with TNG and it, and the subsequent movies and Picard are my favorites of the bunch. Maybe those minifigs will appear later in smaller sets as well Regards, Mitch Quote

Absolutely. Plus from a space perspective it just means collecting this subtheme doesn’t require copious amounts of real-estate. It’s one of my misgivings with how Lord of the Rings is being handled; all the sets are absolutely magnificent, but they’re also massive and collecting them can be a headache if one doesn’t have the space for it. A bridge set sounds brilliant, I didn’t grow up with TOS but this is nonetheless a set I would buy as I’m still attached to the characters. I wonder if they’ll introduce a phaser mould this time. Menapian Posted March 30 Posted March 30 I've been working on a TNG bridge diorama set myself, so my heart definitely skipped a beat when I saw the leaked news! I was honestly glad to see that it was a TOS set, and as people have said, it makes sense to vary the approach to the theme a bit. It'll be very interesting to see what size and approach they take for the TOS bridge diorama. Will the piece count need to hit a certain level to justify including the entire core crew, I wonder? My bridge is pretty compressed at 918 pieces, but fits decently well on the shelf with the Enterprise-D. Quote
RichardGoring Posted March 30 Posted March 30 It looks great! Just saw it on Rebrickable and will investigate further. Thanks for making instructions for this. Quote
Menapian Posted March 30 Posted March 30 Thanks @RichardGoring, I appreciate it! If you end up building it, do let me know how you get on - I'd really value any feedback. It'll be interesting to see if we get more official playscale sets like the rumoured TOS diorama, and what size they might come in at. I'm working on a few more TNG designs at the moment - a transporter room and a holodeck, so far - and I'll be sure to post them on the forum when they're ready. Quote
Dreamweb Posted June 10 Posted June 10 So, the rumour is the set is going to have 1701 pieces (yes, really ) and cost $200 to 240. The minifigs include Kirk, Spock, Chapel, Sulu, Bones, Chekov, Uhura and Scotty. I was hoping for something a bit smaller, but still curious about how this is going to turn out. Quote
icm Posted June 10 Posted June 10 It sounds interesting but overpriced. Still, it would be a day-one buy if it weren't for the fact that I'm losing my job and I need to get a new job quick. Sadly, that's true of so many great 2026 sets. My TNG crew will probably have to wait well beyond September to be joined by the TOS crew. Quote

For 1,701 pieces (harhar), I have my fingers crossed that the price is towards the lower end of that 200-240 range. This probably won't be a day 1 purchase, but I would like it especially as a basis for more Star Trek MOCs. (I've already done a rebuild of my TNG transporter room as a TOS version - now just need Scotty to do the beaming up!) Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted June 10 Posted June 10 The minifig selection sounds awesome! 1701 pieces, eh? Sounds like they either set out to design a set with that piece count from the getgo or went with a first prototype and then de- or increased the piece count I love silly references like that! Quote
RichardGoring Posted June 11 Posted June 11 Excited to see it, but it sounds expensive for a bridge diorama. Hopefully it's better than my imagination and/or comes in on the lower side of pricing. Quote
cehnot Posted June 17 Posted June 17 (edited) Appears there is a leaked yellow torso. If this is real, the insignia, simple black collar, and gold texture looks great on it. I sure hope they use different insignias on each torso so they match with the correct color shirt. Science, engineering, command, etc. Edited June 17 by cehnot Quote

Very excited about this set, judging from the leaked torso's they're going for a classic TOS feel, hope that translates properly to the rest of the set and we won't get a SNW-style bridge. And hopefully not too many stickers too! Fingers crossed... Quote
