  1. @Fabulous Fox The triplex suspension is definitely functional, however the Z linkage is just for show. I've seen Ackerman steering in many MOCs (and knockoff brands based on such MOCs), so it is both doable and practical. Sadly not present in official LEGO models at this time. The few reviewers who have the model say that the gearbox is really smooth.
  2. Yeah best start giving that some thought, usually it doesn't end with just 1 or 2. I just bought the Lambo SΓan at first because I wanted 1 modern large Technic car to put next to my 8880, the last car before my childhood Lego interest started fading. The Ferrari didn't interest me as much but I had to hold back on the P1. The AMG GT3 is where I finally broke. And the Koenigsegg will come too, probably around Black Friday when they often drop under 300. And I started working on a big 1:8 MOC. All I need now are a bigger house and more furniture
  3. Very true, from a business pov it makes total sense and the people maintaining it will have better knowledge of how it works if they built it. Sadly this is usually where it goes very bad from the end user's pov, if an old system worked great and a new one fails to even get close (often to keep cost low). So I hope they're not in a hurry.
  4. While I understand why they chose for a more flexible wishbone to prevent cracking, it definitely appears a bit too soft from the looks of it. I hope it won't get loose under the weight of the whole car when using the suspension. That's what shocks me too after seeing this. Problem is I can't unsee it once I know it. I don't know if this is a more frequent problem, because if it is they should consider making a new gear to correct this offset. A lot of marketing practices are bullsh*t from a consumer's pov. Sadly it's the way the world works. Even in job application training people are taught to highlight their strong sides and hide or give a positive twist to their negatives. I don't like it either, but sadly we live in a world where honesty isn't rewarded.
  5. @JGW3000 That's probably the best way to be sure, but you can probably get a rough estimate once the PDF instructions are live after the official release date.
  6. I would definitely replace the red and yellow axles too myself. I don't know where all of them are but a few are definitely visible in the interior. I might even replace all the lbg axles and have all of them black (like we used to in the 80s/90s). Yellow 32072 can be replaced by a black or dbg one, to prevent confusion with the lbg 5405. I'm gonna do the bushes and half bushes on a per case basis, black if they're part of black constructions and lbg if they're part of gray construction.
  7. Personally I stay away from PaB for large orders because it is a pain in the behind to use. If there's a few items that are exclusively available there or much cheaper I'd make a separate order. For all the rest I prefer sticking to Bricklink and making use of its Wanted Lists & Auto-Select Stores features. CSVs can have slightly different formats but it should be somewhat obvious if you check it out in a text editor (like Notepad or Notepad++) with auto wrap function off. Each line is an entry, each value in a line is separated either by a comma or a semicolon. Just gotta cut a certain amount of lines and paste it into a new file. If you're uncertain on what you're doing, keep a backup of the unaltered file, just in case.
  8. Same! Though I fear that alone is gonna be a long list already. Aside from the usual stuff they added even more color vomit than the P1 and before, like the 3673 frictionless pins being bright yellow now instead of lbg. What the hell, LEGO? Looking forward mostly to HOG steering & shifting, and a spoiler control lever. And hoping people manage to build proper headlights eventually.
  9. It's been a few months for me since I actually bought stuff, but managing wanted lists and having the system search for the best deals has been working fine for me. I remember being a bit confused when I just started with it but it doesn't feel different lately. Whether or not you find the deals you hope for obviously depends on the offers. I have no experience selling stuff.
  10. Oh no, just less colorful and chaotic. A combination of black with both grays is totally fine, did that on my Photoshop too. The structure is in "boring" colors and the orange interior pops, and if you look deeper the color coded moving gears are still there too to help understand them. It's just so much less distracting when watching the model sit on a shelf. Maybe intentionally to boost the parts count? I've seen plenty of cases where such things are done, like two 2x4 plates after each other where they could have done a single 2x8. Or even 3 in a row instead of a 2x12. It's not even rare at all. It made sense in the days when we got B model instructions that may have needed those extra parts, but not anymore. It might help justify prices too considering people usually judge those on a "per piece" basis.
  11. The whole point of this was for people to get rid of ads and provide an alternate source of income. You said "We really don't need much, so if there is a group of people who are willing to support keeping EB Ad-free (or at least obtrusive ad-free) that would be great." and we're happy to contribute to that, as an alternative to ads...
  12. Did you ever get the chance to look into a donation system for an ad-free experience?
  13. I am somewhat impressed there's no parts flying off. Have you seen how much that rear wing moves from the wind hitting it? Shock the world once doing it right, then smooth sailing the easy way on the hype it created. I don't like it either but it's how it seems to work for many big hypes. I honestly don't care much about these 1:1 models at all.
  14. Because many find it ugly, chaotic, even distracting on the finished model. And we don't understand why 18+ people would struggle so much without it, while a few decades ago even kids didn't know any better. Anyway there's already been plenty of topics about this.
  15. Now imagine what this would look like if... All the blue friction pins were black (43093 & 6558/42924) The yellow frictionless pins were lbg (3673) The red bushes in the gray construction in the center were lbg, and the one behind the steering wheel were black (3713) The yellow 1/2 bushes were lbg or black as well depending on their placement (4265c/32123b) The red 1L axle to 2L pin connectors were dbg (11214) The yellow gear knob wheel at the doors were either lbg or black (32072) All colored axles were all either black or grey Now the orange interior itself pops, with a lot less disturbing chaos. And I didn't even clean up everything, leaving the colored gears in the center as they are. But all the blue chicken pox are gone. Also note that I only used colors that already exist for these parts from LEGO. This looks so much better. Sadly if LEGO did this, people would complain that it's too hard to build. Back in the 80s even kids sets were like this. No speed building on camera, but actually paying attention.
  16. Blue pins aside, I'm spotting a couple of (bright) yellow pins too. I wonder what pin type they're using that color for (but obviously not very happy about it). [Edit] Considering their placement I am guessing they are regular pins without friction. Why they would go yellow instead of the more neutral lbg this time is beyond me.
  17. True. I usually recommend ImgBB to people who don't wanna manage albums or even create an account, and just want a quick upload to share a pic without having to ever look back at it.
  18. Me too, since it would require a license, and 1:8 cars is something they already do on their own every other year. It's a beautiful MOC for sure and you have my support.
  19. I can only advice a good adblocker (using uBlock Origin myself). Sorry if that's inappropriate to say, and yes I feel kinda bad for Eurobricks... But ads are just a horrible experience, and once again I wouldn't mind donating something directly.
  20. Sure, but I would actually test it first instead of blindly trusting AI. It's plenty of times wrong. Currently not having it in use myself but I can easily find a lot of reports from 2022 from people saying raw=1 is no longer working. Why people assume AI is always right these days is beyond me...
  21. It has to do with the "Koenigsegg ghost", an easter egg found on each of their cars. It's a tribute to the Ghost Squadron, which has roots in the Swedish Air Force. The reason that Koenigsegg carries the Ghost is because after one of the Koenigsegg factories burned down, and they acquired the abandoned airfield of the Ghost Squadron as their new facility.
  22. Nice to see a whole new gearbox and a functional gear dial telling which gear we are in. They should have given the 1:1 car printed headlights too, for consistency sake After looking at the inside of the 1:1 model at 6:29 in RacingBrick's video... I won't complain about blue pins anymore in our 1:8 version They did the same thing at the left and right ends of the spoiler, visible in the same top view picture...
  23. The thing is many of the franchisees and employees are just victims in the matter too. If the Mansells get their LEGO back or a fair compensation, that's good. If Ben stays out of jail, that's good too. But the spotlight is only on these 2 parties and B&M Corporate and the directly involved franchisees with this particular takeover. But the problem for all other franchisees and employees won't be ending there, they suffer in silence and may be paying a price that remains uncompensated (losing their business, losing their jobs).
  24. I know that article and method from before. Somewhere in 2019-2021 it wasn't working anymore and the direct links would be only temporary ones that constantly changed. I remember well because before that I've used it a lot. Not sure if that was reverted again...
